It is very known for my local Argos to sell on returned goods though so this maybe the case. How do i know this you ask ? I shop at argos many times per month and we are constantly returning items that have obvious signs of usage.
If you know this then why continue to shop there? I wouldn't.0 -
I actually despair sometimes at the ridiculous guff that gets asked on these boards .......0

I didn't know you could still buy lights that run on mains voltage!0

Considering my girlfriend could have lost her life i see you as a heartless person and i am surprised with peoples attitudes on these boards they are still being used.
I come for advice only to be ridiculed. Compassion has surely degraded over the years between fellow man. i can only feel sorry for our next generation of children and the world they face.0 -

you don't get compensation for something that could have happened, only what did happen. It was odd that she decided to plug the lights in before wrapping them round the tree (hopefully not something she would do again) but it was good that she did not need any medical attention and was fine
If you drove through a pothole but suffered a fright but no damage to your vehicle....would you be claiming for the damage that could have happened but didn't?0 -
normally the ones that are mains voltage go out when a bulb is broken ,

Sequence of events as it should be done:-
1. Buy lights and take home.
2. Open and check lights fully for any faults.
3. Plug lights in and check they all work.
4. Unplug lights and place them around tree.
5. Switch on and admire.
You failed at stage two, three and four.0 -
She could have been seriously injured ... But wasn't.
Argos could have given you £23628 compensation... But they didn't.
Same thing.
Seriously, claiming for personal injury* is difficult and time consuming with no guarantee of a win
*Especially when there was no injury.0 -

I expect the next generation will want compensation before they even get to Argos, as they could have been involved in a traffic accident on the way there.0
