I got an £8 for 8Gb deal from THREE - 4 months ago - I am more than happy with that

Three have just sent me an email, effectively increasing the price by ditching the existing contract in favour of a 12 or 24 month one at £1/month more. Or continuing on the same monthly basis for an extra £2/month.
I have two separate contracts with Three, these reached the end of their min term in Dec 2019.
If I took out a new 24 month contract from scratch, there is an initial 6 months at half price offer... making the deal cheaper than their “special offer” invitation that came in the email. If I wasn’t already a Three customer, it is even less expensive to go via USwitch and that is for a 12 month contract. There is maybe an even lower cost option in the Three shops.
EE are currently looking cheaper than Three, for similar deals, are Three likely to price match EE?0 -

I prefer THREE to EE - not only are signal strengths better in my area - but EE have never been willing to negotiate tarrifs unlike THREE

To cut a long story short, I looked at the coverage, annual increases, contract length, etc. I decided to opt for O2 on a 12 month SIM only deal via USwitch.Obtaining a PAC via text from Three was quick and painless. I had a follow up phone call from Three offering a £5 discount if I changed my mind and stayed with them. Unbelievable cheek, the guy had the nerve to say that Three were the best network and that I couldn't find a deal to match his offer, when I said I wasn't interested the air turned blue... enough said, I am now with O2 and find the coverage a big advantage. Three weren't bad for coverage around my area, but O2 are much better. The only downside (so far) is the VPN on my phone needed tweaking in order to work.0

Three have made a number of attempts to call the Mrs and sent a number of texts about an upgrade.
finally picked the phone up tonight, considering she is on £8 with 12GB data unlimited minutes etc
they initially offered me the same deal for £12, erm thanks but NO thanks, then it went to £11 for the same deal again thanks but no thanks, final offer was £8 for 8GB data unlimited minutes etc again I said thanks but NO thanks.
He told me she only ever uses around 1GB data anyway, obviously this is down to working at home more.
ended up with a PAC code on 30 days
I’m looking at Smart now via Usaitch £7 for 12GB data & unlimited minutes etc
anyone any idea if Three retentions will call back or not.Or what happens if I don’t use the PAC code to my contract status.0 -

If you had expressed intention to switch to the Smarty deal or similar verifiable tariff when talking to the rep, he would have been more able and likely to offer something comparable.Evolution, not revolution0 -
Beware of annual price hikes way above inflation, from several networks. Three have 4.5% increases each April on SIM only.
Currently CPI is 1% and RPI 1.5%0 -

I don’t get why 3 called about a so called upgrade, my contract was due to end of the 27. May.
It started with a £12 offer (£4 increase) then slowly went down by a £1
** I’m currently on the £8 for 12GB data unlimited minutes etc
hence I got a bit fed up with the operator and said leave it and gave 30 days notice (am I to early ?)
by the looks of it 3 have made a number of attempts to call me along with a text offering me similar deals to the original operator ones.0 -
'Upgrade' is the term used by networks to help you feel good about their making more money out of you. They often make contact a bit early with the good news, to save you having to look at other options.
Obtaining a PAC supersedes and negates any previous notice of cancellation, it's not clear what you actually did.Evolution, not revolution0
