As someone said in an earlier post use swinton home emergency cover - I do, i went into the branch and i managed to wraggle the price down to £45 from £79 for the whole year. So what if you need to get a Gas safe Registered person as they are now called to servive your boiler, shouldn't cost you more than £60

Just tried to call Coverheat to repair a gas c/h boiler. First, I called their landline number, and got an answerphone message that Coverheat are no longer at Adur Business Centre. The I rang their 0845 number, and got a continuous loop answerphone message that all their operators were busy. So I sent them an email. Then I found this blog.

Clearly they have gone away, but it is surely dishonest to keep the website up, and to keep the answerphone message implying they are still in business.

So, next port of call is Trading Standards for West Sussex.

I paid my premium by credit card, so I've claimed back from them, but it all takes time.

I first took out insurance with the outfit in Nov 2007, as a result of Uswitch. And at the end of the year (Oct 2008) did get an annual service done (by a firm called Pegasus), at the booked time. No complaints there. Pegasus are based in S Wales, and I live in Outer London. The fitter told me there was no work on Wales for them. I feel very sorry for them if they have been left unpaid.

  • What is the current status with COVER HEAT, have they gone bust?

The reason I ask is that I need written proof they have ceasd trading so as to try and obtain money back from my card provider.

Reported in the press that they ceased trading:

That of course is different to having 'gone bust' - it just means that the owner is satisfied with the money he has made and will not carry out any more repairs - not that they did a lot anyway.

You could try Companies house to see if they have any information:

    http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/

I expect there are thousands still paying their premiums.

So now they are gone, can anyone suggest a replacement for landlord cover, this lot are a shambles but I only went there to avoid the equally shambolic BG.

Last comedy, call out to fix toilet - condem boiler ?????

  • I was ripped off by Coverheat. They told me that my Potterton Boiler was not covered when the PCB went because it was a "known Design Fault" and not covered despite doing the initial inspection etc. The guy they sent out had not worked for them before and tried to charge me for the inspection. I reported them to West Sussex Trading Standards and was asked for a full statement which I willingly gave. Apparently they had been inundated with complaints.

I got a letter a few days ago saying that Trading Standards had taken them to Court and won the case and that they are "no longer trading". :T

    Now to the crunch...

Why is a repected site like USwitch recommending such complete and utter rogue traders???

Its gives me very little faith in anything they recommend. They should do their homeowrk before recommending that thousands of us change service providers...

The simplest question to answer on this Board!

It is because they get commission from the company!

Anyway why are USwitch a 'respected' site? Is it because they advertise a lot?

All of these comparison websites earn their income from commission paid, and do not 'test' any product.
