Coverheat are indeed a dreadfull company, I made the mistake of paying annually and cannot get a refund. All future coverheat custumers should beware of this outfit0 -
Please beware of Coverheat at ALL costs!
They NEVER send an engineer for an initial inspection!
They NEVER confirm that you are covered - when they do finally arrive they will charge you as they have NEVER been to an initial inspection and will not accept any previous sevice history on your boiler!
They DO NOT pay the engineers that they sub-contract out too - therefore the engineers do not come back to finish any jobs.
You only get a call centre and not the company - they are REALLY unhelpful.
You will loose your money as they will not give you a refund for love nor money.
I could go on and on and on - we had a forum on moneysupermarket.com that has now been closed by the site as so many people are taking this company to court - customers and engineers alike.
Do not pass them your business - go to BIGGER companies - it may cost you more but it is WORTH while.....0 -
Waited over 60 hours for a response and they never came so got someone else. I think this Company are ripping people off, taking money for a call logging centre and nothing else. If you call out of hours all they do will log the call and it cannot be dealt with until next working day as their Scehduling Team only work weekday business hours. This is a scam and in breach of their advertising leaflet and website (unlimited callouts! 24/7! normal response within 2 hours but within 24 hours - all false advertising!!!!!
Very rude telephone operators and they have now put in place a recorded message which tells you are in a queue position which goes on and on and you end up at queue position 2 then next thing you are back at queue position 7 and this goes on evvery time you call - another scam and you are paying for the call. I just wish someone could shut this company down, CORGI will do nothing and the Advertising Standards Authority won't intervene, I am now waiting on a response from Trading Standards however not giving much hope because they have been ripping people off for over 3 years and still trading.
Please please please do not touch this company. Be warned.0 -
The trouble is that this sort of company will cease trading and start up next day with a similar name.
Like the solar panel firms that give long guarantees.
My pal paid a fortune for dampcourse injections with a lifetime Guarantee. When it failed he rang the same tel no and was told that the firm had ceased trading and they now had a different name(one letter had changed) same people, same premises, same scam.0 -
BEWARE OF COVERHEAT
I have been trying to call CoverHeat on 0845 388 2357 and 0845 257 8540 since Monday morning (6th April 2009) to get them to arrange for an engineer to come to my house to repair the leaking gas boiler. Everytime I call CoverHeat their recorded message is that all their operators are busy now and I have waited for at least 5 minutes on each ocassion and no operator answers. Are they ripping customers off by not honouring their contractual obligations and making us wait using their premium phone lines so they can get more money from us. I have referred this matter to West Sussex Trading Standards and Consumer Direct. CoverHeat is not on the Gas Safe Register (formerly CORGI) even though they have a CORGI symbol printed on the policy order confirmation which they issued, very misleading0 -
I too have refered my complaints to trading standards about CoverHeat, (or CHeat as I like to refer to them for short) I was told by them in a letter ALL complaints are taken very seriously. Thier engineer said our boiler needed a PCB, I sought a second opinion (from British Gas) Thier engineer replaced the leeking pump which had been driping onto the boiler and triping the electricity throughout the house, he said there was not a problem with the PCB, Wev'e had no trouble with the boiler since. That was in January 09, I'm still trying to get CHeat to pay the £164 I paid B- Gas, seeing as the pump IS covered and thier engineer made a mistake. Has anyone had any joy from CHeat?
Thursday 16th April. I do believe CHeat are no more, I rang this morning and their number is no longer in use.0 -
After 8 months of chasing/arguing/stressing/etc I may have found the solution. We didn't get a refund that I am sure we are due, but I did manage to claim back my last payment installment through my back. I believe that the Direct Debit Guarantee covers you for services not provided, and having emailed my back they have put the money back in my account. I shall let you all know if this is a permanent arrangement...
Again I must insist that no one ever uses Coverheat, and to either 'self-insure' or go with Domestic and General (who we have found to be great) or another reputable company...Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow0 -

Oh my word, what horrible company. I took a policy out last november and they were truly awful, not turning up for appointments, not responding to letters etc.
Having just learned they have gone out of business, im trying to ensure they dont bill me for the remainder of the 'contract'. I called my bank, but apprently its not a direct debit they have set up with me, its just taking payments via netbanx from my debit card.
Im not really sure what to do now. I have just emailed Netbanx via their online system to ask them to stop payments and advise me further, but im concerned i will keep being billed for this.
Anyone else in the same position? any chance of me getting back the £40 i already shelled out for a nothing service?!0 -
Post #48 bears repeating!!The trouble with this type of firm is that they can close down(or be closed down) and start off again with the same premises, same people and importantly same business ethics.
So watch out for Coverheat Mk2!!!!
It is a racing certainty that this will happen! using another name of course.0
