absolute no brainer for me what one to choose .
Wow - you've got some interesting friends!
Is it just a one-off thing, or does the conversation swing round to how great it is every time they visit?

LCD TVs use one of a few screen manufacturers for the screen - only very few exist, and the chances are extremely high that it will be from a company like Samsung or LG.
This Tevion TV is 1080i - not 768, and though indeed it is not "full HD", unless you wish to spend £1200+, none this size are. .

I stand corrected :rotfl:0 -
I have just seen an LG 1080p 42 inch LCD in TJ Hughes for £699. For the extra, I would probably be tempted by the LG, to be honest. Does that make me a bit of a label snob? :rotfl:0

Why not? Could you explain before making such a sweeping statement.

1) Read the posts properly.
2) If you have some useful advice then say it
3) Don't just make stupid sweeping statement without explanation and backup
4) Please do not waste our time anymore.
BTW, Here is the link again in case you missed it the first time around:

However, a "still" image (if you were to pause a movie for example) on screen for more than 15 minutes will probably 'imprint' or 'burn' that image and its shadow will always be visible even when watching something else. You will also have to "top up" the plasma liquid inside the TV every few years to recover brightness.
.
You dont need to top up the TV every few years , in fact where can you do this ??
And screen retention is not a problem on decent sets, i have a Panny PX70 and its often on BBC news for hours on end with the static logos all over the screen and have no problems whatsoever

Sorry to hijack this thread, but can I ask a question regarding LCD and Plasma screens?
I was in Comet last week and the salesman suggested buying a plasma TV if you have children who are likely to touch the screen a lot, especially if the TV is at a level they can reach. I was told if an LCD screen is touched it will damage the screen permanently.
I've read lots on comparing LCDs and plasmas, but never seen this mentioned.
Can anyone advise me on this, as I was probably going to buy an LCD until I heard this advice?Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
