Does it say they looked in the bin?
You assume the sender forwarded a tracking no. to the OP?Hermione_Granger wrote: »Where did the OP state that they looked in the recycling bin?Twinnie-two wrote: »…Xmas was 4 days later, filled with Xmas stuff and has gone for recycling...)
So they didn't look in the bin when they put stuff in it? Didn't check to see what they were putting in would fit? I mean its not that much of a leap to say they looked in the in when they put the xmas rubbish in it - as it was put in on the 21st, had christmas, put rubbish in and was collected a few days after xmas.
I am assuming the tracking number was sent yes, because it was an ecommerce order this is likely and if not, its highly possible the shipment qualified for FedEx Delivery Manager which would have emailed/SMS the recipient to let them know it was coming and allow them to manage the shipment delivery.
It would be highly unusual for a ecommerce order to receive no dispatch confirmation on an order. Its pretty much a given.0 -

Incorrect. First line of first post clearly says that the OP made the purchase whilst on holiday.0 -
So the OP didnt say they looked in the bin.
Honestly....clap clap they didn't. My mistake.
But they are honest who opens a bin and puts something init without even looking if it will fit?!?! Come on be honest, they might have not said it, but they would have done it.Incorrect. First line of first post clearly says that the OP made the purchase whilst on holiday.
Yes, my mistake again - although the source of order doesn't change the way the courier handles it.
It's Business to Consumer shipment with the courier (same with any), as in going from a company to a residential address. The shipper SHOULD have required a method of contact for the buyer. The shipper SHOULD have put it on the package. The terms and conditions the shipper sent the shipment via allows the courier to leave the package in a safe place.
Claim will likely be impacted by how long it was before it was discovered it was missing.
From now on ill include alot more coulda woulda shoulda to cover reasonable assumption round here0 -

I open the bin and sling the rubbish in without looking what's in.
Am I so unusual in doing that?0 -

Me.

Because its not rubbish - its recycling.
Which round here requires you to take out the plastic caddy for cardboard to be able to put in the other recyclables.
Courier are stopping doing safe places now anyway and moving stuff to retail stores you'll have to drive to collect from, without your approval (check terms and conditions of the big four (FedEx, DHL, UPS, DPD) which have or are changing to allow one attempt and then retail - without recourse as the recipient isn't the contract holder.
Courier firms cant sustain the current approach of people ordering and not being in.
Anyway - clearly in the minority - I'm out.0 -

I can slip the bottles, jars and cans into the bottom of the recycling bin past the 'plastic caddy for cardboard' (actually round here our cardboard goes into the bin itself, not in the caddy) as it doesn't take up the full width & depth of the bin.
So I still don't look in the bin.0 -

And I'm very careful to arrange delivery when I or someone else is in.
Or use 'click & collect'.0
