And as for my comment about the loss of a house I just can't understand how anyone could spend enough on the 'rubbish' tapes , books etc to lose their house.
I don't know anyone personally that have lost their house, but I do for example know of one couple who both had employment a few years ago and a healthy bank balance, then got introduced into FLP, a few years later have both given up their full time jobs to devote their time to FLP, have spent nearly all their savings on paying for their mortgage while trying to get their FLP business up and running, and if they don't either come to their senses (in that it isn't working for them) or are lucky enough to recruit a world class salesperson to their team very very soon, then yes they will struggle to pay their mortgage.
It's not just a matter of spending enough on the `rubbish`, if you have a mortgage of say £800 a month plus other bills on top, it's fairly easy to see how quickly someone could run into trouble.
While the businessbloke may well be the perfect honest team recruiter (I'm not going to dispute that, I've never met him and there will be some honest ones out there) and tell his prospective recruits of the hard slog ahead, and tell them of the risks and that not everyone will make it, and that it could take years for those that do, and that there might well be 10 other team members in the same area touting for the same business etc, it's still a fact that the majority of people I've seen drawn into such schemes are led to believe it's a get rich quick scheme. You could argue that that's down to peoples own short-sightedness and greed, but from what I've seen it seems to me that the presentations are designed to give the average person just this opinion.Martin Lewis is always giving us advice on how to force companies to do things.
How about giving us advice on how to remove ourselves from any part of MoneySupermarket.com
I hereby withdraw any permission Martin might have implied he gave MoneySupermarket.com to use any of my data. Further more, I do not wish ANY data about me, or any of my posts etc to be held on any computer system held by MoneySupermarket.com or any business it has any commercial interests in.0 -

I was paid to appear at one of these evangelical sales events I went with a male collegue as my 'husband' we sat side by side like a pair of lemons on stage while the sales team blethered on about how we had paid of our mortgage, had a 2nd home, a Bentley & a boat. We were whisked away at the end of the event so no-one had chance to talk to us. During our journey home my collegue remarked that he had considered one of these schemes & was now relieved he hadn't taken up the 'opportunity'.
I notice thebusinessbloke has ignored my comment & is still asking for facts!

This is sooooo bad. Shame on you!!!!0 -
You all sound surprised. I'm not.
One old friend whom I had known for 10+ years got into financially difficulty doing KZ & had his account stopped. Me being the kind person I am helped him out financially. He kept asking for more & more until eventually he owed me more than £2k. The next paragraph is the most interesting...
He became so engrossed in the MLM that he tried to rip me off by black-mailing me into lending him more money, otherwise he said the £2k he already owed would not materialise. Some friend!
Sadly, I had to do the deed on him before he did it on me, needless to say we have now lost our friendship & I wouldn't trust him ever again. I have since found out that he was constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul & many other people have been taken victim by him & his sickening desire & belief to suceed whatever the cost.
It would be easy to blame many things for his financial difficulty, but the overriding factor comes from his desperate need to try to succeed in MLM & his ignorance to the remarkably easy looking sales pitch which indicates he could, & indeed would become wealthy within 5 years.
P.S. Just to give you some idea, his turnover was £2k per week purely in retail.
The moral of the story is;
If it seems too good to be true...it probably is!0 -

Well trib I have to take my hat off to you here for a well balanced viewpoint; thank you for the modest compliment.
You are SO right; I see too many people who bombard their prospects with the 'get rich quick scheme' line and tell them they will be earning 6-figures by the end of the first year - I had that done to me at the beginning of my experience with FLP.
I found that some people were behaving like 'used car salesmen' (sorry to slate that profession but I'm sure you get the generic reference) and making amazing promises. Unfortunately when you progress at a rate less than that, often these people lose interest and go after other people searching for their stars.
I absolutely agree with Trib on that remark. We need more people behaving professionally rather than 'amateur hour' to raise the game; perhaps if that happened some time ago so many people would not have been disillusioned by this business and let down by unscrupulous recruiters, who couldn't care a hoot for those they bring on board.Mike0 -
I wouldnt trust any MLM company, I was invited with a "friend" to attend a big Amway meeting at the NEC, I have never been so scared in all my life.
The pitch was all the same, Some "emerald" or "Rusty Nail" status couple would parade on stage, and announce they used to be unable to pay the bills, had 27 CCJs, had their house re-po'd and had to feed their kids on carpet fluff......UNTIL they discovered MLM, Now they had Diamond teeth, 4 bentleys and a yacht that would embaress Mr Abramovich!!!!.
The question they they and the herbalife type peeps could never answer properly was:
IF the products are sooooo good(which invariably they are, the washing up liquid lasts 5 years, and the vitamin pills can cure cancer, WHY are they not stocked in ASDA, M&S, Superdrug etc?
MLM is only any good if your at the top of the chain, By all means do try, but not at the loss of all your friends and family.
To anyone considering MLM do your research very well beforehand, before parting with a penny.0 -

This is a commonly asked question so let's deal with it. Network Marketing provides a faster route to the customer as there are only 3 components in the supply chain: company...distributor...customer.
The company doesn't require premises to sell them from, thus the money they make from not having those overheads is reinvested into the products making them better than what the retail outlets have to offer. Have you ever wondered why many health shops are offering 3 for 2 offers all the time? What do you think is the quality level of their products?
Distributors know about the products they are marketing, because they use them themselves and recommend them, therefore, by personal recommedation; which is a very powerful sales media. They can educate their customers on a one to one basis and be a ready source of informative guidance, often with access to professional assistance if required.
For example, none of us are health professionals; but we have access to doctors, nutritionalists, etc who can answer technical questions.
I hope that answers that questionMike0 -
That doesn't actually answer the question now does it... :rolleyes:0

You have the comparison figures of your companies R & D budget v Holland & Barretts, or is it that another bague claim that cant be backed up.
“Have you ever wondered why many health shops are offering 3 for 2 offers all the time? “
No I haven’t wondered, its called sales and marketing, they offer some lost leaders to get me through the door with the hope that I will spend more, simple really
“What do you think is the quality level of their products?”
Any clinical data to back that vague claim up? Let me guess your products contain more free radicals than what is in a whole Holland & Barrett chain.
”Distributors know about the products they are marketing, because they use them themselves and recommend them, therefore, by personal recommedation; which is a very powerful sales media. So NONE of you are health professionals, yet will happily recommend your products to customers. That makes you little better than a snake oil salesman. Personally I like any health/medical products to have an evidence base before I use them, and preferably not evidence that has been funded by your company.
”I hope that answers that question”
No not really just the usual answers trotted out from your script.
I shouldn’t mock really, I have made money out of MLM, not by flogging the overpriced tat, but by flogging MLMarketeers cloned e-commerce sites. It paid for a healthy deposit on my first house:D
In fact any Web designers looking for work, get an invite to a MLM meet, you will soon get plenty of work.:D0
