It's surprising that a huge outfit like HSBC can't match little Chorley Building Society and others for efficiency in starting a new RS after a maturity!

HSBC doesn't give a toss about its retail banking sector.

And who is to say they are wrong?

As long as they continue to pay 5% on the RS I will love them to bits :)

HSBS customer service is quite amusingly terrible. My regular saver was available to view in online banking from the 6th. Today I receive a text saying that they're in the process of opening it and I'll be informed by post within 14 days when completed.

I have an Advance account with HSBC and my preferential regular saver matured over the weekend.

However, I'm still unable to apply for a new one.

How long does it take to change before I can apply?

    I'm in the same boat.

My HSBC Pref Regular Saver matured on Sunday and I've now moved the bulk of it to a newly opened Nationwide Flexdirect account.

I want to open a new one but was told that I cannot until I've had my closing statement by post. Given that they knew when it would mature when I opened it a year ago I cannot understand why this cannot be done straight away.

For info: my online and mobile banking summary has shown the account as now having an interest rate of 0.2% since Sunday. It didn't take long for them to change that strangely enough...:rotfl:

I've tried to get HSBC to follow the procedure which Santander and LBG now - at last - follow, which is to allow the regular saver and SO to roll over. Looking back I see that the HSBC renewal date has crawled slowly forward through November over the years. Sometimes though the account has been quite promptly opened - and I think that was when I opened it by telephone.

So, general question: How did you open yours, online or via the telephone?

How do we pay in money to Halifax Regular Saver?

I opened account on 31 May 2019. It shows up on my online banking. I don't remember setting-up a standing order.

Checked standing orders (SO's) active on Reward current account and it dosen't show any SO's.

You will need to set up your own SO to pay in to the Account number and Sort Code of your RS.
The SO doesn't have to come from the Halifax.
Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?

I submitted the application on 4th of this month, early afternoon, and received a text message on 7th to say they were processing my application, but as of today there's still no sign of the new account on online banking.

Just to update on this, the new HSBC RS account is showing online as of today, with the initial deposit dated yesterday. So to summarise:

Tuesday 4th - Application submitted online.
Friday 7th - Text message received saying my application is being processed.
Wednesday 12th - New account showing online, with initial deposit (and standing order) dated 11th.

halifax online banking shows that I have £25 in the Regular saver. Would that sum have come from a Standing order or a one-off payment?

How do I check where that amount came from?
