With regards to the Virgin RS, how long did it take to open the account, and do you need to book an appointment beforehand?
Also, can you view the RS on online banking and after it matures, how easy is it to withdraw funds, is it another visit to the branch?0 -

Doesn't take long, an appointment is probably advisable but if you're passing a VMoney shop there's no harm in popping in and asking - of my 3, there's only been 1 person in before my slot, though that doesn't mean there wasn't previous appointments and they'd already cleared out.
They don't appear online in any way, don't know about maturing - still a few months away from my first paying out.0 -

I had to book a couple of days in advance. The opening didn't take too long, the lady said they were stowed out with people coming in to open this account.
It does not appear in online banking, cannot comment on withdrawing yet.
You do get a passbook. I love a passbook.0 -
Well that escalated quickly. :rotfl::eek:
With regards to VM reg saver and withdrawing - you can either sort it out in branch or post the passbook. So a branch visit is not necessary once matured.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably open it soon then.Leeds BS RegSaver i10 will mature on 29/11/2018.
I remember there is an easy way to close this account and asking them transfer to Current AC.
Is there any info regarding regarding this ?
Thanks
I had to send a secure message and then requested a cheque. It is yet to arrive after 2 working days (they say it usually takes 4). I find Leeds BS website and system very tedious. Its easily the worst banking website I've used.0 -

You should receive a letter soon with a web link to provide maturity instructions.
If nothing received and it's a few days before your account matures then try this link: https://www.leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk/savings/maturity/forms/
Or secure message them to submit your instructions.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Ecology BS have increased their RS rate from 1.5% to 1.75%. I think from yesterday 30th Oct.
I would not normally countenance getting any RSA that pays under 2% interest. But in this instance I'm thinking of making an exception because: (A) monthly payments are taken by DD (I could use one more DD right now); (B) the account has an indefinite life, so it's possible to build up a reasonable balance and not have to deal with annual maturity/reinvestment; and (C) permitted closure without penalty at any time. All that said, darfoc, I recall you recently mentioned having a very large number of RSAs: this one would clearly be well down anyone's list of priorities!0 -
This is a bit odd! I sent my application form with my cheque on October 25th, had the phone call to verify my ID etc, phoned Monday as there had been no reaction and was told my application was fine, the account was open; yesterday got my bundle with the pass-book, etc.
They have not presented my cheque yet and in the meantime I'm earning an additional 1.44p per day on the £350 at the bank it came from!0 -

I just love these seldom used words that sound so wonderful particularly when unexpected.0 -

My account was opened on 1 November, Cheque was debited from my account today, I guess that makes up a little for matured RS not being closed until 2nd November with me unable to present maturity cheque to my bank until Tuesday0
