stefe thats great the hobnobs have turned out ok for you
went to B&q for more paint, think the walls will need a few coats, going from lavender to white, am buying a two seater bed settee from a neighbour, hardly used so i need to get on
will have to go over to aunties again tomorrow to help with the logs though, they arent fit to manage themselves, saw some lovely brambles there and am tempted to pick them, tried one today and it was fine
have put extra covers on the dgs's beds, they will be feeling the cold when they come back saturday, it was quite chilly here today0 -
Made soup and did 3 loads of washing
I am doing an excel sheet for my washing now - stating what washing powder I used, how much, any extra options etc so that I can see what is best e.g. to use Prewash or Superwash on tea towels or to soak beforehand.
Will do the ironing later
Having pie, chips and gravy for dinner - OH went past the Ginsters factory today so bought a box of 25 2nds pies for about £3. We go there to get pies, pastys etc but it depends what had been overmade on the day as to what we getWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Evening all,
Seems like 5 minutes since I got up...not the earliest riser in the world but surprised to see the time.
Stripped, washed and ironed the spare room bedding, need to remake beds before my cousin comes to-morrow night...he is making a curry for dinner and I have to take him to the Asian store first so will need to be on the ball early to-morrow.
Made a really nice shepherds pie, OH not usually keen on mince with anything but was quite complimentary to-night...wonder what he would have said if he knew that half of the 'mince' was soy ...did we call that tvp years ago or is it something different...anyway thoroughly enjoyed my dinner.
Twink...you are bringing a tear to my eye when you mention something else you have done for Kyle and family while they are away, when my children were small my late mother used to 'spring clean' my whole house...I still miss her so much even after 13 years!
Sorry for all who are having a bad time...hugs.
Sorry that so many regulars have been missing lately...hugs to you too if you are only up to lurking at present

Evening all
Happy 18th to Miss N9eav bet that dinner will be fantastic;)
Happy birthday to ageandjo to:T
Another seemingly very long day here too. I woke up at 5.00 (and thats am peeps yes am) and had to finish cleaning the house ready for my sil and nephew staying at the weekend (im away till Friday so it was this morning or never) kinda wish I had organised myself more to get it done yesterday but a good friend has split up from his partner and needed some wine and comfort - seemed a good reason to ditch the duster to me until the 5am wake up call:o
Anyway got the flight to Southampton then over to Bournemouth where I have had a really lovely day. The weather has just been gorgeous and I was actually sunbathing this afternoon (well sticking my face in the sun and hoping to turn golden brown:D ) My customer (yes this is work:T ) is of the same mind set as me so we took our agenda to a local wine bar with views over the pier and sea:j and enjoyed a cheeky white whilst discussing sales results:rotfl:
Tonight I am going to his leaving dinner with his team which will be very nice gastronomically wise but could get a little sad (not for me mind he has already booked some work for his new team:D )
So for me old style started well this morning with all that cleaning but then ended in usual Nelski style ie in a bar:o
Hope you all have a great evening - I will miss not watching the final of the restaurant but i will catch up on it when i get back home on Friday I guess.
Hugs to all as ever

evening all,
Just finished reading the rest of todays posts.
Nelski, I like your style, a glass of wine whilst at work has got to be one of the best times to have one  :j
meanmarie, what you said about your mum was lovely, our mums do so much for us, and we tend to take it for granted, (note to self, appreciate my mum more,) I was thinking about this and I have never told my mum that I love her, I do obvioulsy but it was just not the done thing when we were growing up, we just do not say it as a family. Having said that I must say it to my DD at least 5 times a day if not more, she asked me once why I kept saying it, and I said I did not want her ever to wonder if I do, she says it back to me lots, so we both know. (sorry got a bit soppy there, off for a glass of wine:rolleyes: )

Hi!
Had a nice time shopping in town today and picked up a few bargains in our recently opened 'enormous' Primark. A lovely mac/coat for £15, a blouse for £5 and for DD1 a few hoodies £4/5 and a couple of tshirts 50p/£1.I'm going back on Sunday afternoon with DD1 as she wants to have a look around with me. She'll be 11 soon but she is developing rapidly and fits into their ladies size 8 clothes.
I used to love clothes shopping in town with my mum when I was about the same age. I was allowed to spend my child benefit which was around £21 each month on my clothes and it was amazing just how many bargains we bought...I think that is when I first realised the importance of living within my means.I've always loved 'cheapy' clothes shops!
We put our heating on for the first time this evening as it's getting chilly, but I have turned the thermostat control on each radiator down to it's lowest setting.
Not much os today, only washing and drying and DD2 had 2 of her friends around for tea so we all had pizza and ice-cream and hm muffiins.
I'm in work tomorrow for 2 days and then we all break up for the half-term holiday. :j
Hope you've all had a good day.0 -
Evening all!
I just wanted to join in on the 'mums are great' theme. I am stoooopidly in debt and not earning enough money to pay the bills. Every month my mum comes to my rescue, she lends me money, I give it back when I've got it and then a week later she lends it again and so on .... I don't know what I'd do without her. Just yesterday I turned up on her doorstep in floods of tears about my finances and she always knows what to say and do to make me feel better. I hope I tell her often enough how much she means to me :A
She helped me come up with a way of (hopefully) earning more money too! I love singing and, on her suggestion, I have put a cd together to send out to pubs and clubs etc showing them what I can do - this is the perfect time of year to look for that kind of work as pubs plan for their Christmas entertainment. She has also asked me to cook Christmas dinner for her instead of buying her a present and has commissioned me to make jewellery (another hobby of mine) for all our female relatives for Christmas! Bless her, she's just the best ! :AOctober grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):
Asda - £11.98
Aldi - £10.36
Parking pot: £1.00 (everytime I walk into town instead of parking on pay and display, I put the money saved in a jar)0 -
Is anyone else finding the site REALLY slow tonight? everything I do seems to take half an hour!October grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):

Samsam
Well a few years ago I used to help out DD and SIL until they got their act together. I was for ever phonebanking money willingly. DH and I didn't have that network when we were starting out. DD and SIL now so much on an even keel and I don't get the SOS. Just think they found it a bit difficult budgeting when starting out together and then DGS1 coming along so soon.
Your Mum sounds fabulous, tell her you love her and you will repay in so many other ways. My DD over here on Monday after my wee wrinkle healthwise last week and have told her in no way has she put pressure on me. It is my own pressure that I have to sort out. I tell her every day on the phone that I love her. Tell DS too when I speak but he gets embarrassed!
Yes, the site is slow tonight.
Take care and love and hugs.
