Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th oct. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning. Why do I have to start these off???? everyone must be getting up late.
My Eldest Daughter has reached 18 today. It does not seem that long ago when she was born, well 18 years. Born in Milwaukee USA, same day as the earthquake in California. The next day 18th Oct it snowed in Milwaukee and was the heaviest snowfall for that date on record. I saw convertables filled with snow. Surviving 2 really bad diabetes hospitalisations and a car accident, she is here today.
Dinner party tonight and presents.... I am doing a half day at work and then cooking for the rest of the day.....
Cheers folks

Morning N9eav, Mrs Mcawber & all to follow.
Forcast is sunny & dry today, so I've rather optimistically (sp) hung some washing on the line.
We had a lovely SC beef casserole for tea last night but no idea what I'm doing tonight, I'll look in the freezer before I leave for work.
Hugs to those in need.

Morning N9EAV and a very Happy 18th Birthday to Miss N9EAV :bdaycake: - many happy and healthy returns. Sounds like she had an exciting birth!
Where is everyone today or am I on here early? I slept ALL NIGHT - YIPPEE!! I can't believe that I didn't cough at all during the night - that's a first for nearly three weeks. I've been up since 5.30. Yesterday, it took DH an hour and fifteen minutes to drive the 35 miles to work, even at 7am, so he's left earlier to try and beat the rush hour(s) which seems to go on and on. It makes it a long day because he won't be back until about 8pm. That'll teach him for moping about when there wasn't enough to do! I'm just about to put the SC on with a beef stew for dinner; will add dumplings at the last minute. I love the SC - makes life so much easier. I still haven't tried the brisket in it, though.
Well, DGS came round for dinner yesterday and we had a great time. I had picked up a brand-new Limited Edition Fuzzy-Felt (for 95p in the charity shop). I was tempted to save it for Christmas but, in the end, we had such a lot of fun with it. I think it will keep the grandchildren occupied on wet winter Sunday afternoons when they visit.
Well, I need to go to the shops today to get some suet - they don't sell it at my local grocer's so I have to drive into the village just for one thing - not very OS, but we cannot have stew without dumplings!
Today, I am determined to get all my chores done early so that I can do some AQA and, also, sort through my Christmas stash - I have so much crammed under the spare bed that it's spilling out. I need to order some ink cartridges for my printer and make a start on DH's business accounts (I HATE that job - mainly because he doesn't always fill in his cheque book stubs  and it takes ages to match things up with the invoices and receipts. The air will be blue. In fact, I think I'll save that for Saturday - he's working all weekend so I'll be able to concentrate).
Well, off for a shower and to get cracking on the stew. Have a great morning and will see you later.

Morning all.
Happy Birthday to N9eavs DD!
There is a chill in the air here, i was tempted to put heating on, but have big fluffy socks and dressing gown on instead!!
Today I intend to clean the house from top to bottom, upstairs is almost rearranged, so now just needs a good old clean, i love clearing out just before xmas, i get so excited about this time of year i love it.
Also have a pile of ironing to get through and a spag bog to make for later going to have it with HM garlic bread and stuffed giant musrooms yummy!
Need to place a ad on freecycle for a door curtain, if i get no luck i will hit the charity shops next week, we never use front door and i think a curtain will make the hall look cosyier (sp?)
Right off to make a start, have a good day everyone
Donna

MRS MIX - I would definitely go back to the doctor's for some more antibiotics. If you've finished the last lot, you should have started to feel better by now. I worked out that my dose of the thread cold lasted about 18 or 19 days in all and I've just had my first cough-free night's sleep. I've been taking odourless garlic capsules because they're a natural antibiotic, apparently, so they may have helped. I was lucky because I didn't get an infection this time - I usually get sinusitis after a bad cold but I know it didn't develop into that. I'd have been straight down to the docs. Anyway, take care and rest as much as you can - it really is a rotten cold.

Good morning everyone,
Had an exhausting day yesterday at Sea World and was tucked up in bed by 9pm. He loved it and the weather was nice. Had DGS most of the day today as OS went into town. He wouldn't sleep this arv  so one little cranky pants here atm. I'd say he'll go to bed quite early tonight. OS leaving tomorrow & DGS on Friday. Managed to make a loaf of bread, apple roly poly, wash & do a general tidy up. Will iron tomorrow. Need to make custard and I"m having a stir fry for tea.
Miss N9eav Happy Birthday.
MrsMac What sort of pile do you have? I'm talking about your carpet.I brought some Zoflora back with me.
I love it.
MrsMix Definately get more antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon.
Will pop back later. HOpe you all have a great day. ByeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Happy Birthday to Miss N9eav and ageandjo
Thank you all for your good wishes regarding my back. Went to the doctor's yesterday; she prescribed stronger painkillers and rest. So no more ironing or hoovering for a while
I made a couple of batches of damson jam (to help with the freezer clearout) so will be having that on toast for breakfast. Tortillas for tea.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
