KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I am glad to see that it is thawing, a nice slow thaw so giving the water a chance to percolate down. I`ll be doing a bit of MK today, wardrobe and some food cupboards. I no longer need to keep snow stashes and have some packs that can go into the village food bank bin, eventully
I may also do more costume jewellery, I love some of my items and tolerate others. I am sure I can move more to the cs0 -
I am Liverpudlian, grew up in sound from anfield and remember 1963. That was a bad winter
Down here in SE England, however, snow is melting from yesterday. And my house is still consumed with my half of my mother's patchwork and material stash. As well as individual completed items, there's a lot of halfdone bits and bobs - I definitely need to put them together to make up a throw or something similar.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Have a bag of jars and a bag of VHS tapes in the RoD - no takers so on Monday will visit the bottle bank and the tip. I need to have a look at the freezers in the tip 'cos one of my drawers has broken so will measure and hopefully find a replacement.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Snow is deep here. A little village along from us was cut off completely. They are still trying to clear the road.
Bought myself a bona mop as I am getting to the stage I can't do my cleaning very well. Arthritis is awful. Decided to put it together today but it was a !!!!!!to put together. watched the video and then used a torch to look into the handle and there was a tiny spur of plastic once I had that cut off it slotted in fine and now have a clean kitchen floor.
The joy of being snowed in ( someone said it was 6 ironbru cans deep) is that I have been tidying out a cupboard or drawer each day.
Loads to go to the charity shops next week.
keep warm everyone. The secret to warm hands and feet is to keep your wrists and ankles warm - maybe I should get some leg warmers.:rotfl:0 -
Ooooh karmacat, we used to go to otterspool promenade often in the summer, by bus. Ferry to new brighton, birkenhead market, tiddler fishing in newsham park. Coopers and the divine smells coffee and black bread, st johns market for salted herrings and sauerkraut and polish sausage
Not done anything booger all in MK fashion but have decided to wash that pure wool and too tailored cardigan which can only be dry cleaned. Will be hoping to felt it then cut the sleeves off and make a sleeveless top, maybe. Felting might stiffen it too much and it will make coasters
yes grunnie, wearing fingerless mitts made my fingers more comfortable0 -
Feel a bit daft for giving away our snow boots so soon lol! Still, hopefully someone got a nice surprise when they found them in the CS.
The kids went through one of their bookshelves today and Kondoed about half of them. I hear that the small roads around us (Hants) are getting clearer now, so hopefully will be able to get to school and the CS on Monday!
We currently still have electricity and pray that that continues. We are quite low on oil, but using it carefully and I have an order for more coming, when the trucks can get around again."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
catshark, I gave my snow shovel away three weeks ago  but now at 70 I am not risking life and limb anyway. I have kondoed my younger years
I am back in MK mood :j had a good re-think about my clothes and am actually loving, most of all, the clothes I made. Wearing two never worn items today, one sewn and one spun and knitted and loving them, This cabin fever has done me good
Pure wool cardi is now in the machine, with powder and on the least gentle cooler wash ie denim at 40. I am curious as to what will happen.0 -
yay, felted cardi is looking good, a nice even and very smooth felt, buttonholes have shrunk but remain even spaced. It is on a hanger, drying. I will endeavour to try on when dry but over skin as it is definitely smaller. If the length is ok and it looks ok now, then I will cut armholes. If too tight over chest, then I will cut bands off the front to make an open fronted back-warming slipover. None of this will need any sewing, felted wool does not unravel
I could embellish with embroidery by hand if I cba, one day0 -

Snow shovels - the van my brother drove down from Merseyside arrived after two inches of snow had just fallen, and there's a steep slope from my garden gate up to my front door: I confess, I used an ordinary spade to sweep it out of the way. Only about eight yards, and the snow was very fresh, but it really worked well.
At the moment, however, kondo-ing is a lost dreamI currently seem to have inherited my mother's fetish for jugs. Imagine my joy when one of them turned out to be safe in both MW and DW - it's been used already :j

Finally Kondo'd the kitchen drawers and the cupboards with the baking tins and mixing bowls. Few bits for the CS and a load of old tins for metal recycling at tip. Looks lovely and tidy now. Next one to tackle when I get time is the big corner cupboard with cleaning stuff, vases, etc.
Just asked OH if he would sort some of his DVDs and CD's....might as well have been talking to a brick wall....if he doesn't sort them soon I will start throwing out a few at a time and see if he notices...lolThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
