I'm ready to kondo some of dd1's school 'friends'!

On Saturday night, after the school fund raiser (spaghetti night), she was clearly upset, and after I'd put dds in bed, dd1 came down and cried for an hour, spilling all the unkind things they did to her last year and this. What a bunch of meanies! Her best friend from kindergarten is now actively pushing her out of the group; apparently last year some of the girls started rating how the other girls were dressed, and my dd was always rated 2/10 from certain girls; she always has to play the 'old granny' or 'naughty child' if they play families; they made her play with the boys in PE (dd1 has short hair and gets mistaken for a boy occassionally, which she hates and the other girls know this).

DD1 is in her final year of primary school, and I'll be happy next year, when she's in secondary and can make new friends. There will always be mean people, and she has to find her own way, but this is getting silly and too damaging.

Into the ragbag: dd2's pants with a stain (paint or something similar) that wouldn't shift.
Into the donation pile: 1 vest and 1 T-shirt.

Admin coming back to present day. Forms filled out and sent to architect, Sunday school material prepped, training dd2 to get a move on in the mornings and to empty her schoolbag in the evenings.

My iron (bought in December 2014) has ceased to spark joy, so will be replaced asap, as will the white but now scorched blouse that I was pressing when the thermostat gave up working

The ironing board cover has also seen better days so I think I shall have to add another layer of fabric to it, because a replacement will cost £10+ as it is an unusually large size. Whoop-de-do maybe I should just give up and go crumpled :(

I've been debating kondoing my ironing board - I never, ever use it, not for about six years :) but I *may* use it more if I decide to smarten myself up a bit :)

Sorry to hear your DD is having a hard time Siebrie, children can be so cruel at times, especially girls.

Our new water softener is most definitely sparking joy. It's been in for 2 weeks now. The water now feels slippery and so much nicer on the skin and hair. And as for cleaning, I clean our shower room on a Thursday, today's task was so much easier and the screen stays so much cleaner. I reckon I could get away with a once a month clean! The sales lady who came round to quote was raving about this sort of thing, I thought she was giving it the salesperson's hype, but she wasn't. Oh how I wish we'd had one in our previous home.

We've got a calcium stain in the loo pan from where the cistern was leaking water into the pan for a long time before we bought the house. Nothing has shifted it, but the saleslady said the softened water will remove the stain over time. I think it's having an effect already. I must stop staring in the loo pan on every visit to the bathroom!

Slinky, in order to speed up the process of removal of the calcium stain, you can put some vinegar or citric acid on a double piece of toilet paper and stick it on the spot. Renew after flushing :)

It was absolutely gorgeous weather yesterday, and I had the afternoon off, so I spent it pruning the vine and the buddleia. Our green bin is full again already :) And most of the buddleia is still in a stack next to it, waiting for the green bin to be emptied in a fortnight.

Thanks Siebrie, I have already tried some of that in the past, don't know how much effect it had. There's also some staining below the water line that any amount of brushing doesn't shift and of course anything you try putting into the pan is diluted by the water.

If you were closer to me you could borrow my green bin this week. We're currently paying for 3 but have only managed to fill 2 this time. Will go today.
