Afternoon Everyone,
I am serial reader but only occasional poster
At the weekend I was chuffed to clear out the understairs cupboard which is a mini room of doom in our house and put all manner of bits up for sale on FB.
5 days later I am £33 better off and many carrier bags of bits have left to be used/played with/enjoyed elsewhere. My husband rolls his eyes at me and says I shouldn't waste my time, just take it down to the charity shop. He couldn't complain when the £33 was spent on a treat of coffee & cake for all 4 of us though
I'm still trying to sell on the last 9 of my Bum Genius nappies, last used 5 yrs ago. I need to try harder on this front. They are only very gently used and have all their inserts etc just need to get off my bottom and photo them to put on a FB group. Perhaps this will encourage me to do that this weekend

Two large and thick fleeces, turfed out from the family home in July and stashed here pending the colder weather are now with the chazzer. They were pleased as all they had to to was price them and they were straight out on the shop floor.
I did investigate three cans of emulsion which someone had put by our communal skip bins. They'd been out there for over a week. I levered the tops off them all to check the contents and the full, unused good one is now in my shed, pending some redecoration, the others have their lids back on and are still out there.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I got the 2 boxes and 1 huge bag of winter coats and trousers down. DDs have picked 3 coats each, husband tried on a donated coat and will keep it, I took out my one winter coat. The rest (one moving box and a bit) is back in the attic.
3 of DD2's summer coats into the donation box in the attic. 1 of dd2's summer dresses in the donation box.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
3 full green bins went today. The duetzia is now down to about 2ft high, I also cut down most of a small tree which I think was a self seeder. Turned out to have some horrible spiky branches but they were mostly fairly low down and providing a danger to us rather than intruders. This tree is where I want to plant one we brought with us so has to go. Got about 2ft of trunk to give us some leverage but it's very close to the fence so could be difficult to dig out. Managed a couple of hours in the garden first thing, it was lovely.
Water softener has gone in today, the chaps who put it in say we should start to notice the difference in about 4-5 days. Not a day too soon.
Dragged a trolley full of glass round the corner to the bottle bank in the pub carpark. I also donated a used gin bottle to them that is quite decorative. I'd had it on a dresser for about 20 years before getting around to drinking it. Told the barmaid if the landlord doesn't want it to bin it. Dropped off some clean rags at a charity shop, put my boots in for heeling and bought some veg to drag back in the trolley.Make £2025 in 2025

Donated some surplus Quince to neighbours and cooked and froze about 4lb for during the winter. Have quite a lot more as there was more on the tree than we thought!
Have freecycled some bags of sawdust from DH's log sawing. Still havnt tackled all the other 'stuff' but next week is quite quiet so maybe I'll get it done thenSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I have 2 rolsers, I very nearly gave one to the cs, I was in that frame of mind ie getting rid. Its been packed with stuff and sitting in the garage for a two weeks and today I decided to keep it. I am going shopping later and it is pretty well perfect for a shop on a rainy day, saves my arms being pulled out of sockets too. I was an idiot! I love roser and I suppose that one day it will break down and I will start using rolser 2. I took a chopping board out of it a few days ago, need to see what else I was going to give away. Its good to store somewhere for a week or two before removing forever, that time in which to change my mind0

I cycle to my new job, because it is only 30 minutes on my electric bike (up to 45 by car, and 1hr by bus/walk). I get reimbursed more for commuting by bike than by car, and I am keeping the reimbursement separate for buying new stuff for the commute.
We bought the electric bike with 2 years of eco-vouchers from dh and me (4 x 250 EUR), a friend's eco-vouchers (100) and EUR 75 cash. After just three weeks I had 'earned' the cash payment back. Now we are saving up to pay the friend back for his eco-vouchers. Next up: proper panniers to transport rain gear, lunch, and office clothes.
(Eco-vouchers are an optional employee benefit in Belgium, to be used on eco-friendly items and food. Bike-buying and maintenance are covered by these vouchers. My current employer does not give out eco-vouchers, but gives a better bike-reimbursement, which roughly works out the same.) Cycling to work definitely sparks joy!
ETA: I have panniers, from about 20 years ago, but they are sagging, probably not watertight anymore, and the rubber-inside is falling apart rather stickily (yuk!). I am using them for now, but they are definitely not sparking joy.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
out: 1 pair of sport shoes, about 10 years old, the soles and sides re-glued several times. Off to buy a new, decent pair this weekend.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590

Love the sound of those eco-vouchers, what a great idea, wish we had such things in the UK.
A multipack of undies which have been on constant use since Oct 2016 have finally died on me, fabric totally worn out. Two already died and the other three probably will die in a couple of washes. For ragging.
Otherwise, I have been living quietly and trying not to make (too many) new acquistitions, and getting into using clothes I bought for the cooler weather which didn't make it off the hanger last year.
I'll acknowledge that I'm the last person who could be accused of fashionability, aiming as I do for clean, tidy and appropriate-to-the-situation apparel, but I'm probably good to go for clothes for 5+ years.
What a privileged position to be it. :beer:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
