I was using up hotel and gift set soap bars at the end of last year but had some nice (read I won't pay that price myself) shower gel and bath stuff for Xmas. I was going to carry on with the soap stash but tehn thought that a - I prefer shower gel (or bath foam - I'll use that up in the shower) and b - if I was the gift giver I would wonder why it had been set aside in favour of (nowhere near as nice smelling) soap - so I'm using up the nice shower and bath stuff first and then I'll go back to the soap stash (I donated over 100 bars of the bigger style last year and then saw 2 of the charities I donated to posting it up (I could recognise the bars I'd donated) for free on faceb00k as they prefer shower gel and hand sanitiser - wish they'd say that on their webpages/ faceb00k appeals/ posters...…..)

I'm worth using the nicer stuff up first :D - it brings me more joy than using the soap bars (although using those does bring me joy in that they are money saving :D)

Using up the small branch of B00ts that has accumulated in our bathroom cupboard.....not going to buy any shampoo soap etc until its all gone Including all the tiny free samples I have got, the hotel 'freebies' and that huge bottle of J*hns*ns baby shampoo I was given as a freebie when DD2 was born....she is now 21:eek: As it is used up we are moving to soap bars, shampoo bars and other plastic free packaged stuff

Fantastic stories ! :rotfl: we all seem to have b00ts in our houses!

I am SABLE for soap, and getting there for shampoo (I wash my hair twice a week). I rescued a lot of hotel sized shampoos last year, and the local b00ts (similar) does a lot of free-after-rebate offers on fancy shampoos, which I am happy to help them out with :)

  • How does “stuff” hide ?
Just been in the bedding box to get rid of some spare king sized bedding as we only use one set, then wash and dry it and put it back on. I found a black bin bag and when I looked inside I found two single sets of bedding I had brought home when clearing mums house 3 years ago.
There is no single bed in my home, so why have I still got them ?
I had already kondoed the bedding once last year and cannot remember even seeing this bag

Debsnewbudget, it's weird, isn't it? Is it a blind spot? Decision fatigue and your brain just hid additional choices from you? :)

I threw out the remaining five hot cross buns (Sainsbury's own brand), because they are disgusting! No way to rescue them, they are that vile. I still have three from Tesco's finest brand left, which are really nice.

:) Spoke to the mothership on the phone within the hour and she has found a fitted bottom sheet which turns out not to fit either of the two double mattresses in her home - they have both been replaced in recent years and are deeper than their precessors. And the third bed is a single. That will be heading chazzerwards to give someone else the opportunity to get the benefit.

DS3's topic homework is craft related (urgh! - my pet hate) I've downsized the craft stash massively now that I've only got 1 at primary (and he's Y5) - the other 3 don't tend to need random craft items! :D However, the box (singular - down from a high of 5!!) was a total mess, so as I needed to basically go through it all anyway, it got totally emptied and sorted through. Teeny tiny mixed bits from the bottom got sorted to a degree and the rest binned (mix of crumpled gummy small shapes, sticky sequins, stickers, glitter and coloured sand....) I am NEVER doing anything with glitter, so have a stash of pots, tubes and packets and will see if school want them (am mindful they might not - glitter is not enviro friendly, after all) and will offer them on freegle if not I also sorted like with like - so all feathers are in one bag, all sequins in several packs in another bag, all foam shapes in a bag, all foam sheets in a bag etc. Once DS3 has left primary I will basically be offering the whole lot on - now that will be a VERY joy sparking occasion!!! :D:D

When my Aunt and Uncle were clearing their house prior to their move, I was given a cake plate and 12 saucers. They are old and used, but have a nice design, and as I use them mainly to serve snacks to my dds, to cover bowls in the fridge, and to mix paint for dds's crafts, I don't mind. However, 12 in addition to the six I already had, was a bit much. The problem is solving itself: husband stepped on one and it broke, and dd2 dropped one on the tiles in the kitchen :)

I found a mattress cover in a box that came down from the loft recently, it's not a very nice one (Ikea) and has elastic straps at the corners. It's been sat in my rags recycling pile, but I've just realised that we may need something to cover the airbed at our other house shortly. Tenant will be leaving soon and we're not going to rent it out again as we're going to try and sell current home soon to move to that one. We've slept on the airbed before and it's very cold without something between the sheet and the mattress, this will do fine. That would have been a Kondo fail...... phew.
