Homeless charities and night shelters like towels too GQ
And toiletries (and they're generally not picky about them being unopened.
Also do remember that sanitary products are often overlooked. Homelessness is bad enough without having to deal with lack of sanitary protection. When I switched to a mooncup all my stock went to the local shelter.0 -
Mum had asked me to look out for towels of that size as hers are wearing out and she has at least three which are no longer absorbant and will need to be ragged. So, having had my surplus brought to mind, I was more than happy for her to take the big ones which are seldom used. One of the two was originally hers anyway, the other one I bought for £1 from a bootsale.
I shall have a recce and see if I have any opened pkts of sanrpo that I could offer as I am sure I have had my last period. Thanks for the suggestion.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Inspiring to hear that we're all still keeping this up. The new bathroom is finished and I'm now Kondoing dust from every. single. room. At least cleaning is easier these days.
Thanks to MK I haven't felt that I need a medicine cabinet in the bathroom any more. I have a vanity unit under the new sink, and that's holding some spare toiletries, cleaning products and the like. Because MK left me with empty space in the bedside cabinet, I've been able to store OTC medicines in there. It's a tiny room so I'm very pleased not to have to fill it up with storage - and I now have space on the wall for two lovely pictures that have been in the loft for years. Another MK win!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

Decorating my OH's office is coming along nicely. Walls and ceiling done, just got to do skirtings, windowsill and the inside of a large cupboard door. Then all his clut can go back in again.... It's spread everywhere in the house, there's way more than came out of my office and mine is the more paperwork intensive job. Ho hum, I hope he'll at least try and reduce it, otherwise we'll have to pay to move it and find it new space in our new home.
I've been through a briefcase and some hanging filing. Found old financial paperwork from the 1990s. Some of it was reminded me of things I enjoyed spending time with my late father doing, so some tears have been shed today. Silly to cry over shredding old dividend records, but it's odd what things remind you of.
I found payslips for my first 2 years of work. I've kept the first and last, plus a couple in the middle where they fiddled about with my start date. I doubt there will be a problem, but I can at least use them as proof for NI contributions if there was ever a dispute.
Shredded a couple of years of income tax records also.

I opened a new bank account this week, and the amount of paper I turned down was amazing - leaflets, letters, printed laeflets, it went on and on. The woman wanted to show me a video instead, but I saw that video last year, so I immediately told her that if she tried, I'd leave the premises
I'm very eager to kondo things, but I'm not ever kondoing minutes of my life by watching that video again. Bland and patronising at the same time.

My ethically sourced fairtrade coffee was running low, and I was about to buy a new packet, but convinced myself to do an inventory first. It turns out that I have a few packets of instant cappuccino and mocchaccino in the pantry; my parents drink this when they visit. The last time they visited was the autumn break, I think, and the packets were from before that time (1 was opened). The last few days I have been drinking these; it's not as good as proper coffee, but it will do, and I don't want to throw it out. My parents' health is declining, and I don't know if they will visit again (it's a five hour train journey and Dad is suffering from bowel-related side effects from prostate cancer radiation therapy, unfortunately). If we visit them before I have finished the instant coffee, I will bring the coffee with me. Husband has stopped drinking coffee altogether, as it does weird things to his blood pressure, heart rate, and mind.
I also did an inventory of my shampoos, conditioners, and shower gels, and we are actually running low on shower gels! I will start using soap bars, but husband and dds prefer gel, so I will have to buy some. I don't mind spending the money, now that I am sure it is something we need and use.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Tomorrow I will start on the 6th and final small shower gel I was bought as a gift pack for Christmas. They are scented and I don't really like scented gels. Normally they'd have been shoved to one side to cause clutter until such time as I gave them away or binned them. I decided this time to crack on, get them finished and go back to my normal gels.Make £2025 in 2025

Well done, Slinky!
I do the same: in the enormous pile of products I rescued at work last year, there were twelve bottles of shampoo that I don't really care for, but it's free shampoo and does what it needs to do, so I don't want to throw it away. I have passed three bottles on to a friend in need, and have donated four bottles to the foodbank. One bottle is now in the bathroom, to be used every other hairwash, alternating with a hotel size shampoo that I do enjoy. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Shower gel use is not something my family ever used. We always used bar soap because of the reduced cost. Now that my kids are adult, they use gel but I’m not a fan.Overprepare, then go with the flow.
