Just bumping this thread up!
A few more things have been identified to go here this week - DS3 has outgrown a pair of walking boots (virtually immaculate - worn 3x), a thick/ warm snuggly onesie and has chosen to get rid of a full set of toys :T
I've also done my customary Jan sorting of some paperwork and a good sized pile went for shredding/ recyclingI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
I have kondoed a 'fast food' staple from my home by teaching myself how to make pizza from scratch
hand kneading and all, so Very proud of myself! Dds thought there was too much onion in the sauce, but I liked it. I will adapt the sauce recipe for them next time.

I changed my working hours so that I had more time at home (working 4 long days instead of 5 normal ones), and I am so contented now in comparison.
I love that this has been your experience
I would agree that it had a great impact on my life when I first was introduced to it. Whether that's coincidence or not I am not sure, but two years ago I took my wellbeing seriously, went part time, then changed career and it was all around the time of kondoing.
This Jan in addition to the previous 12 bin bags we have just cleared some misc items and have another 1 bin bag worth (actually three smaller bags, one for charity, one for bin and one for recycling). So 13 bin bags out of a one bedroom flat.
It really is miles more free and clear here now. Nothing under the bed or sofa, no storage boxes just randomly piled, no clothes on the floor as part worn clothes now have baskets to live in.
Still have cables box and filing of my photos to do, and pictures to hang but most of the way there.
I've realised I also have the garden to do, so that will be a task before spring is sprung fully.
I still feel like more could go... and I've noticed my partner and I binning bits along the way, for example before washing clothes questioning if we want to wear them again. Or when buying items.
The one impact I really wanted was to remove a lot of guilt I was feeling holding onto items I hadn't used, or had been gifted as I struggled to let them go the last time I did this properly. Still not 100% there, and I think the lethargy of January has not helped.19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!
:heart2: ..... to buy my first home. :heart2:

Just a reminder to anyone with excess bedding, lots of night shelters and homeless charities are after sleeping bags, single duvets, sheets and duvet covers, pillows and pillow cases. Some take blankets and fleece blankets too. Emergency night shelters are open, but even those don't have room for everyone who needs a place.0

I have to find some eccentric solutions to problems due to living in a tiny flat - the bedroom just has about enough room for the bed and to stand alongside it to dress, and that's it.
My solution to the part-worn clothes issue was to take one of those cheap over-the-bathrub A-frame clothes airers (mine wsa £1 from a chazzer) and unclip it and make it into a ladder. The two parts are held together with twisty-ties.
This leans against the bedroom wall and I put clothes on the rungs and also have a couple of hangers hanging off it. This simple fix was lifechanging, lol.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I was thinking of you the other day, GQ
I have a tin of Turkish tea I'm very fond of, and I use for things upstairs; I had no use for the lid, but I didn't want to throw it out. Turns out, I can upend it, and use it to hold a square bottle of olive oil, that stays out on the counter. Mess on the counter is avoided because the bottle always stays within that little holder. I smile every time I see it

This week I have Kondoed the plastic storage box cupboard, quite a few things have gone in the re-cycling and 1 in the CS bag, this has left me enough space to get the Remoska into the cupboard and given a gap on the worktop:D
I have made a start on the cupboard with the turntable thingy, now that I am not so pliable I often need to use a torch to find things stored in the middle of the unit, when I come across one I will buy one of those stick on battery lights to fix in there. I had hoped to buy some of those cheap and cheerful plastic baskets, none in local SM or the bigger one in the next town, but hoping that I will be near a big Sbugs next week, then I could group things by type e.g. baking, spices, sweet, savoury etc.
Only a baby step, but I am trying to find at least 1 thing a day for the CS bag.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I've been finding it really helpful to look at things in terms of what is still sparking joy. As a result the wardrobe is thinning out nicely, and vertically storing clothes in the drawers is really helping me to avoid wasting money on buying items too similar to others I have, but had forgotten about.
Already made some sales this year of other items from around the house too.0 -
:T Nice one, TreasureHunter. More power to your elbow.
I've been having a bit of a sort-out in my huge airing cupboard. It's all of 20 inches wide but runs floor to ceiling. Have inventoried the towels and won't tell you How Many because it's embarrassing.:o
I have, however, been discussing towels with my Mum on the phone and the upshot is that she is going to have the two biggest ones, one a bath sheet and another a beach towel. From the days before weight restrictions were so strict and beach towels could be proper terry towelling.
I seldom use these two and their absence will give the others a little bit more breathing room and enable me to get towels in and out more easilyEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
