KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Had a very productive happy morning Kondoing. My sister came round to watch my son all morning so I could tackle the horror of the spare room. A bootful for the tip, two huge bags to CS and lots still in there but it’s been sorted into piles by category. Found a few things I’d lost and DH put the cot, travel cot and a couple of bags up in the loft of doom (mostly stuff we are saving for baby 2 + sentimental stuff up there, so we have made a pact to go through it all together one weekend if we can kondo our son to stay over at my parebts’ house. I already know I can get rid of some of the baby stuff as it didn’t bring joy the first time and I just shoved it all in the loft without thinking through what we actually used and needed.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Its the small things that can make us happy. Just one bottle of washer whizz, not that big but finished rather than thrown out and a washing machine in process of being cleaned
I did thrown frozen garlic cloves out the other day, I have the remains of last years garlic to get through now. Going to make a soup with 40 cloves but had better wait until after my two sets of visitors this week. Those frozen cloves lost their piquancy anyway, tasted of nothing much

Kittie - Madhur Jeffrey had a recipe for chicken with 40 cloves of garlic. I've done it a few times & it's delicious. You loosen the skin over the breast bit the cloves are unpeeled and pushed under the skin. Just make sure it's well wrapped in foil!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I tidied out a small drawer in the kitchen dresser, it's where dgson keeps papers and felt tips. I knew from doing a tidy upstairs last week that I had note books in a wardrobe, that I'd ripped all used pages out of, they are now I the downstairs drawer. I didn't buy any of the notebooks all came free with magazines!
I also decided to remove the hm valance from round my bed. I made it to hide the boxes under there , but as it's now clear I don't need it.:TFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
I annoyingly had to chuck a few food items away as my husband has the flu and didn't manage to eat it all before the date.
I didn't get to the charity shop yesterday so I will have to go Thursday or Friday instead. I have 3 bags of stuff to take.:)0 -
it is pouring down, blowing a gale and is dark and I have done booger all this morning. If I was doing a serious MK sweep of something or other, then I would be happily enjoying my time, instead I am bored, resting my knitting finger and saving my reading book for later. I seriously cannot find anything to throw away and no documents to shred. So I ate two chocolate truffles and had a mug of fresh coffee. Not what I want to do today, not the chocolates anyway0

Kittie it sound like the perfect day to put an old film on and enjoy the feeling of not needing to 'do' anything other than 'be'

Tomorrow I am back at the in-laws for the great declutter round 2. We are aiming for the 2x triple wardrobes (with top boxes), 1 x 4 drawer chest of drawers and 3x suitcases of clothes and shoes.
I'll let you know the final tally :eek:LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
yay, I stopped being bored.
Thanks for the chicken and cloves idea, sounds wonderful silvasava. I will likely make that too. I have a lot of garlic
I was just looking through my cones of yarn and found some coloured cotton and remembered that I have been meaning to learn how to use my inkle loom, perfect for the cotton. Woven to make straps for the bags that I will be making, one day
It took a while to learn how to warp up, put string heddles on and use a shuttle but I have woven several tidy rows. Nothing complicated for a first go but the first couple of inches are looking good.:D I get to KM, make something worthwhile and will later listen to sherlock on audible, all while resting my knitting finger. A down day has turned magically into an uplifting day0 -
I have decluttered a lot over the years. My first decluttering regret recently was a pair of shoelaces I had tossed. I had purchased a pair of shoes which I assumed was the same as my old pair. However, it was different and I
had tossed my old pair before taking a look at the new pair. I preferred the shoelaces on my old pair more.
Not bad eh? Got rid of so much and what I regret tossing is a pair of shoelaces.0
