I could never Kondo my notebooks (I call them my plot books) Just looking back through is like reading a diary - meal plans and little scribbled notes about why I didn't stick to them because we went out on the spur of the moment, cash flow forecasts for the month ahead to see if we could afford something, all the school activities I needed to do something for - and remembering sitting up late at night to finish costumes/ make a cake for the Christmas market cake stall

I got out of the habit of using plot books, I thought it would be more efficient to use OneNote or spreadsheets. But I think more clearly with a pencil in my hand and I "own" the numbers better when I've worked them out with a pencil and calculator

I don't buy very fancy ones - I love the exercise books they sell in France and buy them when we are on holiday. I've kept them all and I can still find information in old ones really quickly.

I'm not sure, but is what I am describing something similar to what I've seen described as 'bullet journals'?

DD cleared out a load of notebooks the other week but I kept most of them. I will use them at some point - when we do our exotic holidays I keep a diary, so will use them for that

OH cleared the lounge for decorating on sunday and yesterday said "I have to get rid of some of those books, they are not all going back".:T

Shame he didn't say the same about the vinyl collection that he never plays on the stereo he never uses...:(

I just wombled about 150 company branded notebooks :D I've handed out as many as I could to colleagues, but still have about 130 left. They will be stored in the attic, and then sent with the next shipment to relatives in Africa. As long as they are moving, I'm fine. I would have hated to see them thrown out. They cannot be recycled, due to glossy cover and attached elastic band.

I was just going to feed my saved sourdough starter, 10 years old but I flipping must have got rid of it, that was a kondo too far. Oh well, I am going to leave it at that and not fret, I can buy sd starter cultures from bakery bits after I move (if ever I find a house ). I think it was meant to be

Sun is blazing, I am in my cycle clothes but it is only 5 on my weather station, high up on a post in the sun. That means the lanes will have icy dangerous patches in shady places. I`ll have to sit and read

Oh yes I was having trouble finding a paperback in the house for me to read, I wanted a lightweight fiction, so I see light at the end of the paperback mountain :D I am loving my next audible book too, sherlock homes book one but now I need to rest my knitting finger, how on earth am I going to stop myself dozing in the sunny spot by the window?

  • MaryB yes, what you're describing sounds similar to a bullet journal. I'm no expert, but the way I use it is to have not only daily to-do-lists but also keep notes and lists of other things all in one place, as you say, it means you can find things when you need them.

I learned about the bullet journal on here and it's really helped me.

Even when my plotting was how to stretch funds further than they were ever meant to, and when it wasn't fun at the time, looking back at my plot books brings me joy - we've survived and made it through to retirement (kondoing the job brought me enormous joy!)

Phew! managed to get back in. Couldn't log on to a site I subscribe to and I knew from past experience the only way to sort it was to clear cookies relating to that site. But Google seems to have changed its settings and instead of just deleting the cookies relating to that site I had to clear all my cookies

So when I came back on this site I had the dreaded blue theme and I know lots of people have had to reregister in the last few days to be able to log back in. Fortunately it seems to have worked out ok
