:) Just went through some things, including destroying the 'employee handbook' I got 10+ years ago when I started my job. It's generic for the employer, not specific to my role, and there have been many changes to corporate policy and procedures since I was handed this.

I have never once, in the years I've owned it, needed to refer to it, but felt that I 'ought' to keep it, Justin I was obliged by the HR Dept to produce it. Crazy. A brimful A4 folder isn't overmuch space in bigger homes, but it is quite a lump in my micro home. So glad that it's in progress of getting outta here (being fed into the recycling stream a bit at a time). I'm keeping the now-blank folder to be my garden plans folder, which was something I'm planning to start imminently.

Righty, onwards and upwards, my lovelies. GQ xx

  • I guess that sort of info is kept online these days for people to refer to, GQ, and easy to update without causing yet more dead trees.

Siebrie, you're superbly organised with your stashes of garments and shoes for your girls, I take my hat off to you.

Floss, what a shocking time for you. Sending hugs, and when you're ready please let us know how you are.

WeeMidgie, you make me blush; thank you for your kind words. Organising them took some time, because I had 'help' that did not follow my instructions and I did not have the energy at the time to redo everything.

The helper had put all clothes of a certain size in a box together, where I wanted the different types of clothing divided in boxes. So I ended up with everything from size 10y/140cm and 11y/146cm, etc. together, rather than 'all trousers that are as yet too large for dd1'. Now that I have it to my liking (the second way), life is sooo easy!

I am keeping all the clothes, too, until dds take their pick, so that they have some say in what they wear.

We have the space and I save a lot of money; joy all around :)

:) I've always admired Siebrie's way of stashing clothes and switching them in and out. So many people put things away for thier children to grow into and then don't get them out in time and the child has grown past them.

It really pleases me to read about this thoughtful use of resources, good for the wallet, the environment and an excellent example for the girls, too.

:o I had a small amusement this morning when the butter knife snapped in my hands. It is a rogue one from a bootsale, not part of the plain, all-steel cutlery I own, this one had a clear acrylic plastic handle with bubbles in it and a steel shank and blade. The handle just snapped off at the top of the shank.

I will be chucking the steel bit into the metal recycling at the chazzer I support and have had to put the handle in the bin as a non-recyclable - boo! hiss!

Also have removed a carrier-bag's worth of soft plastics dug up from Plot2 and a pot full of glass from the same place. Glass was washed and recycled and the bag of plastics had to go into the landfill bin. One day, I will have removed all the plastic from Plot2, and that day cannot come soon enough for me.:(

Hope everyone is keeping well and wishing you all a lovely night's sleep, am off to my bed right now. GQ xx

  • I went to a work-related conference today. They were giving out 'goody bags' on arrival, so as soon as I sat down, I went through mine. I reserved the sweets :D and glanced through all the glossy advertising bumf before depositing it in the nearest bin. I came home with two ballpoint pens (which I actually need), a notepad, and a useful plastic envelope - no point in lugging all the other stuff around all day.

I realised I was storing dds' dvd's in two places, so remedied that and threw out one that they don't enjoy and is a bit scratched.

With the second pile of dvd's I found some cookbooks, so I put them with the other cookbooks. I have taken out a cholesterolhealthy cookbook, which I will donate to the local free library, together with a floral art coffee table book I received as a leaving present 13 years ago from a 6-week temp job that was really good fun. I have carefully removed the flyleaf where all colleagues left a message, because that page sparks joy, but the rest of the book doesn't (I mean, it is a nice book with lovely pictures of outrageous floral arrangements, but it's just collecting dust, sticking out from the bookshelves).

creeps in... Apologies for my extended absence, but I have been KMing my marriage  The STBEH (soon to be ex husband) has been quietly building a new relationship with his ex-fianc!e of 30 years ago since February and I found out just over 5 weeks ago.

Hey ho, I needed to shed some excess stuff - but wasn't exactly expecting the excess to be him :(

As a bonus, I have also KM'd 16lbs in 5 weeks, several hundred £s in court & legal fees and am getting settled in my own house with most of my own stuff around me.

Consequently, I am dipping out of MSE for the foreseeable...I have other things to do ;)

    Sorry to read that.xx:(

So today I deep-cleaned my kitchen & de-cluttered the kitchen table, desk, & bedroom today.

I don’t remember the last time I deep-cleaned my kitchen. I usually only get the cleaning bug when I’m not feeling terrible so I’m taking that as a good sign & hoping it continues!

    Sorry to hear that Floss.

You’ll be missed around these parts, hope things begin to improve for you & look forward to hearing better things from you in your new home in the not too distant future. Look after yourself :-)

Had to sew up the 'vent' in the rear of DS2's blazer yesterday so took the opportunity to reassess the reels of thread in the box. Result is around a dozen reels of colours which I'll never use have gone into the collection for the shoebox appeal - they make up sewing kits for women in villages, apparently. Also added in a few random hotel sewing kits for them :)
