So I've been chipping away at the boxes I had in the loft for a nearly new sale (nns) - I missed out on seller's tickets earlier in the year (Feb time), the May date was cancelled and then the Sept one was on the day we took DD back to uni. I sold quite a few books over the Summer via fbook, some to Z1ff1t, donated some bits to CS back in Aug, have sold 2 boxes full of clothes this week, donated a couple of items to a friend with a younger son and have just sorted another 2 boxes full of (mainly boxed) toys for the CS. That leaves me with 1 small box of books and 3 other boxes. Some of that will be listed on fbook in run up to Xmas (there's some Xmas dressing up stuff in there) so hopefully some more should go :) I've also released a huge pile of coat hangers - will be taking some up to school for their 2nd hand rail, which I have promised to sort/ tidy :)

Thank you :kisses3: We'd be drowning in stuff if I didn't, Kc! The hardest part can be disposing of it in a responsible fashion - that means some stuff hangs around longer than I'd like at times. Thankfully, our kerbside recycling collection is pretty good, although I do prefer to try and have stuff reused in some way if I can :)
    xx

ETA: off to tackle some paperwork quickly before the first school run - that stuff gets out of control so quickly if you let it! :D

Just tidying paperwork and getting rid of the post it notes that are no longer relevant. Some filing done and an envelope with photos of a nephews wedding being posted to him - they're about 15 years old but he may like to keep them & they've been sitting on the desk for about 2 months at least!

Yesterday evening whilst waiting for somebody to arrive I shredded some paperwork we got down from the loft about 6 weeks ago. It's been sitting in folders on my office floor waiting to be gone through. 8 years of OH's tax paperwork from 1997 onwards has been reduced to a plastic wallet with P60s in (Justin case there's ever any dispute over NI contributions for his pension) and the rest has taken up the space of 10 reams of paper in 2 cardboard boxes, and half a recycling bag. OH kept everything.......... including all the guides to filling in the returns, reminders, envelopes etc etc. Also got rid of paperwork relating to his job in 2005-6 including photocopies of every expenses claim.........

There's 2 more crates of OH paperwork upstairs in my 'ironing room' which I'll pick through and probably get rid of most of it before OH finishes his current contract and spends more time at home. If it's been in the loft unnoticed for the past 14 years, there can't be much we actually need.

DD1 had used some body lotion on her legs, but the smell made my eyes sting every time she walked by, so that lotion is in the bin (freeby, but proper brand).

The old paper and glass has been collected again; that always feels so satisfying.

Husband has cleared out the study!!!! He always pretended it was my mess, but it was mostly his (I'm sure quite a few of you will recognise that behaviour :D). He threw out quite a bit (I made sure it ended up in the right recycling pile), and quite a few boxes ended up in the attic (:() , blocking my access, but he fixed that the next day.

I pointed out to him how much stuff I already again had for his relatives, and he suggested we buy a car again to export, and fill it with that stuff. We made a profit on the first car we sold, so that would be a good idea.

:) Have just stripped my bed and the sheet which I have deliberately been using to destruction has now got religious. Yup, the cotton cloth, long since sides-to-middled- has worn though in the middle and in several other places. It is going through the laundry and, once dry, will go for textile recycling via the chazzer.

I've had this sheet about 25 years and it wasn't new when I got it, so I feel that it doesn't owe me (or its carbon footprint) anything.

Several other things (pyjamas, some socks, my gardening shirt) are within weeks of heading likewise. I am concentrating on using them up and then getting them ragged, as the current inventory of certain things is excessive.

Grey Queen do you know if chazzers can take small fabric offcuts to sell for rags? Our textile recycling bins at the tip and local supermarkets now say "no cuttings"
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Got rid of all the sample pots of paint I'd tried on Freecycle. One very happy recipient! Dining room wall has started to come down. DH has sheeted up as much as he could but the brick dust still gets everywhere!! Major kondoing of dust and rubble :(

:) My chazzer (a Red Cross) will. They will also take old shoes, slippers and handbags and belts. The only things they really can't handle via textile recycling are duvets and pillows. I would enquire as to the policy of whichever chazzer you use. Mine also does metal, electrical cables, small electricals which aren't saleable and CD/DVDs for recycling. I dismantled my old desktop PC to get it down to the bare metal and the cables for recycling. HTH.
