As Old Mr Grace used to say, "You've all done very well." :T
It is so good to hear of all the successes!

I have slipped a bit due to being very busy since mid-May. Only 2 items to CS recently and I know more could go - have plans for today :D

I have also acquired a few items that spark joy:

A lovely linen, made in Ireland, table cloth for £2.00 from cs, the perfect colour for my kitchen diner. I had to buy one because 2 marks have appeared on my lovely antique table

Also a short sleeved light weight jersey top that is labelled with the wrong size so hadn't sold, that is almost perfect for wear around the house. I say almost perfect because it is completely plain..... I have repurposed some fairly delicate but sparkly costume jewellery that i never wore but is very pretty. That necklace is now stitched around the neckline of said top and it looks jollly nice :)

I am still swithering about whether to buy a small COD as storage in the multipurpose room (AKA the back bedroom!). Space is very limited and one of the dining chairs has to live there, only being brought downstairs when we have guests. I am pondering how better to store craft stash and art stuff that currently resides in a large plastic crate, a large tote bag and on old record case (canvass and frames :). It would look so much neater, wouldn't it?! Perhaps the answer is to keep checking the cs furniture shop nearby and if the right size turns up I can do the joy test?

Oh, it is good to be able to put my KM thoughts down here, thanks Folks!

    Mx

Pooky, well done to you! That's very impressive!!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I spent 2 nights on the guest bed, wanting to leave my own bed in `staged` condition until later today. Both times I woke with backache, so now I feel guilty, knowing that dd was not exagerating when she stayed. The mattress is pristine and I have offered it on social media. I have also measured the inside of my car and could get it in for disposal tomorrow if there are no takers today. I will have to buy another mattress and it will cost as I am getting pocket spring, after having a good look at the bed slats, which are thankfully sprung slats. I have already brought the mattress downstairs, not heavy like my own hypnos and that reminds me that I need to look after my hypnos, with a lot of effort and going by the 4 numbers I put on it, either toss or rotate

Oh booger, my older computer, the one I bought a new screen for a couple of weeks ago, I think has finally died.......... My computer bod did say it was on its way out. Got to see if I can find a workaround solution as sometimes I do need to do different work on different screens at the same time. Maybe one of OH's older laptops can be brought into play.... Don't want to buy a new computer for the business, with all the new software issues that will bring into play as I intend to retire at the end of next year.

Am subscribing to this thread. I've recently started reading about this kon marie and a simpler lifestyle with less stuff really appeals. Have started to declutter and it's amazing how much lighter it makes you feel.

The only downside is that I live with my BF who definitely has hoarding tendencies...

There were 90 views on social media and no takers, so I took the mattress to the tip and they put it in the re-use area. I have just ordered a much better pocket spring mattress

Argghhh......... have just returned from a horrible trip round the shops. Costco... I loathe it, there's no logic to the layout and you can't identify the few staff they have as they don't wear uniform. Couldn't find the pecans OH wanted, the cheap toothbrushes were all sold out, the only thing on the list I came away with was Redex which goes in the diesel engines of our cars, at a mighty saving of £1. Of course, I also ended up with 12 bottles of beer for OH, and some sweet potato crackers, which I hope we like as the box is quite big.

Onto Tesco, plans to make trifle for visitors tomorrow slightly scuppered by lack of extra thick double cream. I don't have an electric mixer and beating ordinary double cream took an age last time. Pondered changing my recipe plan, but after several circuits of the store looking for things I needed, walking past them several times, I found some squirty cream for the trifle top and that will have to do. Decided to go through the DIY tills, the one I had had no beep so I had to really pay attention to what I was doing. They've changed the format on the tills, not for the better in my opinion. Had to get assistance several times.

    And breathe..........

Oh Slinky, how frustrating, computer and shopping going wrong!

Well, at least 5 items in CS bag so far, and one pretty bracelet put aside to offer to DSiL. The major surprise was that as I trawled through some of my clothes DH came in and handed me a pair of his trousers to go to CS! The spare sunlonger is still in residence though

I've also binned / put in CS bag a few bits of stuff I had saved for crafting but am sure I shall not use.

The mini store of ambient food (ie, multibuy offers or big discounts) has had a stocktake and a couple of things have been brought out for consumption.

I have measured up for potential COD. It seems to me that i could move my desk to under the window (great for painting and crafting) while still having room to open a small cupboard. Have scheduled a visit to cs furniture store for Monday after work.

In between the various activities I managed to sit in the beating sun for 40 mins while the washer was on. Glad i grabbed that time because it has gone cool and is, unbelievably, trying to rain! DH said he is sick of the rain and can't wait for us to have a proper summer :rotfl:
He's off today and was going to chainsaw some wood but the neighbour had his washing out and the dust and fumes would be unfair (small houses, small back yards that are all interlinked so all such activity impacts the neighbours). He has therefore been watching dvds. I have already bunged one in cs bag!

Ah well, time to head back to the [STRIKE]room of doom[/STRIKE] multipurpose room

Commiserations Slinky, we've all had days like that when retail has been a total drudge, things haven't been available etc.

MMF, I think you, GQ and myself definitely have a focus on shifting things about to make the best use of our limited space. I'm currently thinking of swapping the 'Michael McIntyre drawer' from the kitchen to the top drawer of my small wooden filing unit, which doubles as my bedside table. This will allow me to use the drawer in the kitchen for herbs and spices, the drawer is quite small and will take the overflow from its larger neighbour. In turn, I'll then be able to make better use of the wall cupboard above the drawers.

On Tuesday I joined GQ in the oops-a-daisy club, I took the fleshy tip completely off my right index finger, not the sort of kondo wanted... ended up walking over to the local small injuries clinic when it was still bleeding after 40 minutes, despite pressure and elevation (I used to be a Red Cross first aider). I was using a mandolin and wasn't concentrating hard enough. It's gone in the bin! Years of use, but I now wouldn't trust myself with it again.

It's my dominant hand that took the hit, but luckily I can do quite a lot with my other hand. I think I'd have been a southpaw if I hadn't been bullied into using my right hand in lower primary school. I still quite naturally use my left hand if my right is out of action.

    Welcome katiepants

If you read thru some of the 2018, 2017 or earlier threads you will find lots of people saying the same however as MK writes, if you start on your areas without worrying about theirs, you might just be surprised when they begin to join in of their on volition.

Not had much to kondo recently, as everywhere has been kept neat since completing kondo.
But as I've rid the garden of many pots ,I've stacked them and ds is taking them to put my nieces plants in when she moves house.
In airing cupboard today, I had small set 4 drawers labelled and holding toiletries, wash clothes, and first aid items
These three drawers went into a set of wicker drawers out of the spare room which is now in the airing cupboard.
The last one with holiday toiletries I. E . Small cleansers and shower gels, also suncream and mossie spray. This drawer has been put in a toiletry bag and put in the wardrobe with my suitcase.
I have decided to get rid of the 2nd suitcase which is a lightweight one hubby bought a couple of years ago, that the corner has broke on. I know I won't use it as I can see it breaking in transit, and I've no wish to see my undies going round the luggage collection belt.
I'm also going to ask dd1 if her boyfriend wants the leather holdall of hubby's, as I won't use it as it's heavy even before anything has been put in it.
I've got another bag of snorkels and beach toys that we used to take on holiday for dgson, I will send that home with him as he's here tonight.
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.
