I cannot praise kondo and this thread enough, honestly everything I own is coming with me and will fit in beautifully. I am tweaking a bit ie 4`10 me is pushing heavy chairs around but I have a stone floor and they all slide :D this is only to be ready for photos for when I sell my house

I am aiming to sell mine in september and want to get completion on the new house maybe august, ok yes am using savings and my pension sipp but I could not cope with 2 completions on one day. I will be gutting ie ripping out all the bedroom and study cupboards, getting wiring checked and new sockets added if needed. Ch updated to newer smaller efficient rads with a vertical rad in the kitchen. New boiler and old tank taken out. Decorating and all new flooring with potententially underfloor insulation if possible, no carpet downstairs. I am leaving the kitchen until I have lived there for a bit

She is leaving a very good stannah stair lift, justin for me for when I am old. I did not have the heart to tell her not to, that will need to come out. All the jobs that are best done in an empty house first and then I will move my furniture in stages depending on where I am at re selling my house. I have to be absolutely sure where the furniture is going, I will only get the one chance with strong removals men

I have an EA who is dead keen to sell my house, she knows it well and loves it, actually my niece who lives only 3 miles away from the new house. Everything is falling into place, including becoming friends with the new house vendor who is 4 years older than me and recently widowed. She will be going to an assisted small house as she has physical problems. I am going again this morning with my dear neighbours

Kittie - everything seems to be dropping in to place for you perfectly. You will be able to get the work done on the house before winter sets in too. Just an aside - Stannah stair lifts have a good resale value. Every little helps!

Sounds ideal Kittie, so nice that you have the time to get stuff done before you have to move in too. We were in a rented property when we brought this one and had a months overlap so could get the cleaning and flooring done at our lesuire.

Just spent 3 hours at the allotment before it gets too hot, lots of planting done and harvested my fist courgettes and radishes - the radishes are amazing! Lots of mangetout pokimgntheir heads out and I tried some broad beans which were delishiously sweet but they need slightly longer. My first marrow that was little finger sized on Sunday is now around 8"long and fattening up too, amazing how quick they grow when you're not looking.

Oh thank you and silvasava many thanks for that re the stair lift
I am cream crackered, trying to do my own stuff, going to her house this morning and she is lovely but does not stop talking and it is very tiring when all I want to do is look around and ask a few questions
She is kind of in denial about her stuff, I have decided that I cannot help, it is enough to cope with my own. She is visiting someone tomorrow when quite honestly she should be sorting, her house is packed full of stuff and she will have to leave in about 10 weeks

Can I suggest that if anyone is maybe thinking of moving in 2-3 years, that they start to do serious kondo. Even now the stress is becoming burdensome and paperwork, which needs to be carefully read, is coming at me from all angles. I have started a new file. I could not do kondo at this stage

What I am doing now is not actual prep for me moving but prep for making rooms look as nice as possible because all of a sudden, photos will need to be taken. Last night and this afternoon, I have dismantled and carefully wrapped each individual part of 2 scandinavian trolleys, taken extension leads off skirtings, wrapped and moved several floor lamps out. I am happy with the moved chairs and with the medium leather ottoman that I shoved up stairs on its backside, having unscrewed the legs. So now I feel shoulder twinges, like I did in bed last night. I am going to slightly up my cbd oil right now

Congratulations kittie. We chose the house we will be moving to in a couple of years time for the same sorts of location priorities that you have, although there's no way I could cope with 1/3rd acre of garden. However you seem to be some sort of wonderwoman so I'm sure it'll be absolutely perfect for you.

  • The hope of moving is why I keep plugging away at it.

Despite ever escalating house prices we will catch up eventually, and to keep costs down it will just be us and a van. DH has started working his way through the garage, anything we deal with now will make life easier.
As well as just being easier anyway, it becomes oppressive as the stuff represents work to do, best just to get through and deal with it.

    Hello Kondoites,
I am re-subscribing to this thread.
I'm not actually a new user, I've been an MSE user for just over 10 years, but managed to lock myself out of my account, couldn't remember my password, so decided to start again :-)
I love Old Style and Kon Mari and hope to get back on track.
