Any advice on how to dispose of some old SLR cameras and lenses? Is there a market?

I would snap them up and have picked up some bargains at CSs and have got lenses etc from fr**cycle. I love my SLR and ditch the very expensive DSLR whenever I can. There is a real resurgence for them - lots of my DDs friends use them too preferring them to the digital counterparts!

I have packed dh's suitcases for his trip (a month to his mother country). His luggage allowance was 2x23kg checked luggage, 15kg handluggage, and a laptopbag. I came to 1x22kg, 1x13kg, 10kg handluggage. He will take a small camerabag and a small bag with breakfast, lunch and snack items. His bus leaves at 5.30am for Paris, where his plane leaves at 9. Luckily, he can already check-in his bags tonight, so he won't have to run with them tomorrow morning.

Only a quarter of the luggage is his own clothes, the rest is electronics and clothes for the women and children/girls in his family. I pity the customs official who decides to open the suitcases, as everything is neatly, but tightly packed and they will never be able to fit it all in again :)

My dd2 has her birthday on Sunday, so we already celebrated today. It's a bit of a shame dh cannot be here on the day, but tickets were €400 cheaper than any other combination of days we have tried. We keep reminding dd2 that she will celebrate 5x now (today, Sunday in church, Wednesday at school, Sunday children's party, 12 May when my parents come), and she is thrilled about that :D

I am looking forward to giving the house a deep clean, 30 minutes every evening (or shall I manage to get up early every day?). I'm very not-pro-active when I see others lazing, so seeing dh lying on the sofa every night, makes me sit and read a book (escapism....) every night, even when there is housework to be done. It's a flaw I'm aware of and trying to improve, but it's hard.

Seibrie - so with you there! When DH potters around and then decides to watch TV most of the afternoon I have no inclination to do any housework/baking/shopping etc. We both live in the house and I am NOT the housekeeper I am a wife! (among other things lol)
Well we've had an eventful week and kondoed the car - albeit unintentionally! Accident on the way home from Norfolk, we skidded on a greasy patch and did a 360 deg into the central reservation. Luckily a break in the traffic so no one else involved and we are all OK but the car is a write off!! Off to look for replacement tomorrow - fun for DH, totally boring for me.

Popping out of lurkdom to say I'm glad it's not just me who loses the motivation to do stuff while OH watches TV.
  • Ouch Silvasava, that must have been scary. Glad you're both ok.

I used to find it worked the other way round and I felt guilty if dh was doing something , and I wasn't, so I would end up finding cleaning or something to do.
Silva , I'm pleased you're both ok. It must have shaken you both up, take care. I hope you find a nice replacement.

A bag has come through the door, so the bag I've been filling upstairs can go on Monday.
Just clothes as I've decided they didn't spark joy.
