Been doing a bit more decluttering today. Still surprised at how much I am getting rid of after having a good go a couple of years ago. Think I must have not really done enough last time. More to go to CS this week and also a tip run.
Think my main problem is OH still not agreeing to get rid of anymore DVD's and CD's. Even though they quite clearly don't bring him any joy as they never even get taken off the shelf and lots of them are still shrink wrapped and never been used.
Hoping to finish off bedroom and start kitchen over the next couple of weeks. I know there will be a fair bit in kitchen to go.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
P!Olly - maybe DH's joy is in owning them? Know what you mean my sitting room has a lovely large dresser - full of DH's books, CD's and DVD's none of which I can persuade him to sortSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

News alert! I had my first kondoing regret!
In between dds’ toys I found 2 small crocheted pouches last year, really cute, and a tiny stitch, one of them with beads. Lovely, but useless, so they went to the attic for about a year, and were sent to relatives in Africa in December. Early January I bought a new handbag, and found that it has no inside zipped pocket; where to put my sanitary stuff? The cute pouches jumped to mind, but they were gone! But then I thought: who am I fooling? I’ve got two dds, 6 and 9 years old, of course we have more cute pouches! And it is true, I have found 2 more and the least fuddly one is now in my handbagAre you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Bluegreen, welcome to the thread - and yes, isn't it amazing how that little switch from 'what shall I throw out' to 'what do I really want to keep' can be so powerful!
All the talk about bikes is making me feel guilty. I have two in the garage - one is mine, about thirty years old but in good nick although as noted above, probably needs new tyres etc. The other belonged to a friend, it was serviced and ready to use and then she asked if she could store it for a while ... ten years on, she's now got a baby and has moved to a very hilly town, so she asked me to Freecycle it. In my head I'm going to get fit and ride mine again. In reality, I live on a steep hill, traffic round here is frightening and I'm not even managing the daily walk I planned to do. Time to release them to someone who can use them, methinks.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
My ex-husband has Alzheimers and his bike was stolen recently when he was in the local Building Society.
He probably just leaned it up by the door as he often forgets how to use the lock - he once walked home because he forgot how to open the lock.
He's ridden a bike all of his life, even to work until he retired through ill health. He only used it to ride locally since his diagnosis - he's too confused to go anywhere further. Losing it means he has lost the one thing he liked to do and was still capable of.

These lowlifes, they have no empathy at all. That was a sad tale frogletina
I am going to KM something that always niggles at me this time of the year. I run the management company here, only very small but essential so everyone gets to contribute to essential maintenance and insurance of the small communal area. I have to get ready for the agm and as always it is one small step at a time, starting with just getting the files out and writing the agenda. I hate this job, really hate it but someone has to do it, small steps is the way to make progress, otherwise it will start to keep me awake, just when I am now sleeping 8 hours all through, nothing but nothing will disrupt that if I can help it. KM the agenda will keep my mind clear and stop the stomach churning0 -
I am just in the process of throwing out bathroom scales as they don't seem to display properly and have been annoying me for a week.
Decided there is every point in eating healthier etc but that it is demoralising if the scales can't display a weight for longer than a split second. I did order a new pair but they are on sale, have a good set of reviews and free postage.
Still flattening the last of the cardboard boxes to be recycled tomorrow and sorting out the laundry."This site is addictive!"

That is awful news about the bike. Is there any chance something might come up on freecycle if you post a "want" and a brief explanation?"This site is addictive!"

Kittie, you've written before of your dislike of committee work. Wouldn't this meeting be a good time to resign?. They're going to have to get a new Admin if you move. At least resigning now will give the new person a chance to settle in and pick your brains.
If nobody will take on the role, s*d 'em. It won't be your problem in your new home!0 -
