Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 17
Today was spent at the Eden Project and boy was it busy. However as it is late night opening until 8pm it got quieter after 5pm.
As we are privileged to live in Cornwall and with so many exciting events being held at Eden we are 'Friends Of Eden Project' so every time we go hubby and one other get in for free.
Unbelievably our spends at Eden were zilch, nil, nada as we were VERY strict with ourselves all day. Not easy but we did it
However it was not a NSD as I pre-ordered Mamma Mia 2 from Amazon."One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 18
Today was spent at our favourite car boot sale - Rosudgeon.
Amazingly we were very frugal with our spending today at the sale mainly because we have so much to list back at home and unless it was a real bargain we decided not to buy it.
Our spend also included home grown tomatoes and freshly picked corn on the cob
In the afternoon we did a charity shop run and picked up one item for re-sale as well as a small shop in Iceland.
All round a very good day"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 19
19 days have passed already since my son's wedding - that is scary especially as my DD1 is getting married 8 weeks on Saturday
I did have a crisis of confidence today as to whether we can save / make enough money in time but as PWD kindly said " and having done it once, you know you can do whatever is needed to get there for your DD's wedding "
So in honour to your encouragement PWD, today was a NSD "One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Well done - obviously eight weeks doesn't give you long to prepare but on the other hand, if you're going to really tighten your belt, eight weeks is short enough for you to see the target getting closer!
You'll be pleased to hear that I finally completed my Bookers registration, but there were no RTC bargains in my branch, at least not in the fresh food. There's another branch in my area and I might try that as this one was a bit disappointing generally in what was available.
Keep going - nearly three-quarters of the way through the year, and you seem to have made great progress.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Nooooo
How frustrating that there were no RTCs - that is what we survive on and it is not worth the journey if you are not going to get the reductions.
What day did you go and what time of day?
Good luck with the other branch "One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 20
Our DD3 had her induction day today at her sixth form college so on the way we called in at Bookers, Redruth
Sorry PWD but here is the bargains that we purchased and ALL the items were RTC
12 x 2Ltr Dr Pepper £9.58
250g butter block 79p
2 x 1kg Lurpak (£1.37 each) £2.74
6 x 1.5 Ltr whole milk £1
Kingsmill Wholemeal 800g 20p
Peppa Pig Fromage Frais:T (6 x 45g) 15p
Mixed weight eggs - 5 dozen £3.49
1.5kg Vine tomatoes £4.19
Grand Total £22.14
This is probably our best vale ever Bookers shop - dead chuffed
Whilst in Truro we also called in and spent a tenner at Sainsburys.
All round a very good day"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 21
Our friends are still down with us so we took them to Grampound Fete and Carnival.
We had a super afternoon - we took a picnic with us (the last of the Olive tub I bought on earlier in the week at Tesco) and enjoyed all that was on offer
I grew up with an inherent fear of snakes but I held two different types of snake as well as a tarantula. I'm proud to say my fear has completely gone and I got a real buzz learning about the snakes. I've never been afraid of spiders so holding the tarantula was pure pleasure
In total, we spent about a tenner on a cup of coffee and some home grown vegetables (figs, leeks, black peppers, onions, mixed peppers) as well as a cake.
Another very enjoyable day for not much of an outlay"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Well done on conquering your snake phobia!
Yes, I’m envious of your RTC haul - I went in about 5 pm last Tuesday, as I happened to be in the area and so it was convenient to call in. There was a lot of booze reduced - incomplete packages of cans etc - but I didn’t see much fresh stuff. Maybe weekends are better, I’ll have to try different times.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

I think the timing may be the key here as I am in at about 10am in the morning. If they do reductions first thing you can understand why they by 5pm they will not have anything left especially if they have customers like me around"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 22
Super, smashing, great  ........a NSD
and as the sun shone so warmly we paddled in the sea and the pupsters had a lovely hour's run"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0
