Hi I am on my holidays, and we had a great day here on the IoW, weather was a bit misty this morning, but my DGS Henry and Mikey took the dogs for a walk down the field,I had a left over apple in my bag from Fridays picnic, so the pony in the field enjoyed that, and we came home with some nice blackberries free in exchange
After lunch we went to Appley beach where the dogs can have a good run (which they did ) and having exhausted them we came home and my son-in-law cooked a very nice roast chicken with all the trimmings, vanilla ice cream and fresh blackberries for pudding went down a treat
Tomorrow its a bike ride in the morning for the boys, and a nice walk for the older folk and the dogs along the old railway track between Yarmouth and Freshwater, more blackberries with luck.
In the afternoon we shall probably go crabbing at Colwell Bay and if its warm enough the boys will swim.Tomorrow night's dinner is left over chicken and sausages with some pasta I think.
Tuesday we have my son-in-laws Mum and Step -Dad visiting so it will be a BBQ, they are travelling from Wincanton in Somerset and will come over on the Lymington ferry and I'll pick them up from there as they are only coming for the day.
Wednesday DD and two DGS are going sea fishing. I will have a rest and put my feet up in the garden with my son-in-law
Thursday I have my DGD, her OH, and DGGD coming for the weekend They are bringing my DDs son Jack, he had to stay behind last Friday as he had some extra shifts to cover at work.
So it will be a full house this weekend:):)

Please don't feed other people's horses, .....they may have dietary issues ( they have a complex digestion system ,worse case they can die of colic)

IIRC it's an animal belonging to the farm that Jackie has known for quite a few year, so not just any random pony.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

It all sounds lovely TM6 and well done on getting back into NSD. I'm on holiday with friends in Norfolk, we are having fun but they are not on a tight budget and my eyes are popping a bit at the amounts spent (there are four teenagers in the party). I'm getting free accommodation, although I have offered to pay, so I'll pick up the Te$co bill - I have budgeted for this, so while if it were up to me it would be rather less, I'm fine with it.
We are taking it in turns to do a meal - the other two adults both opted to buy a meal at the pub for their turn. I'm going to demonstrate that you can cook a delicious meal for seven people for under fifteen quid! (It's my holiday so I've bought ready-grated Parmesan, don't judge me. I know it could be even cheaper). Not a fiscal fast, and it is quite a revelation to see what others buy.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Indeed it is it belongs to the farmer who owns the farm near to our holiday house and its his daughters pony called Toggle, a very friendly little chap, who loves it if he gets the treat of an apple now and again.I would never let the boys go near to an animal that didn't know them and they always want to go and see Toggle when we come to this house on holiday, they have been giving him the odd treat for the past 8 years.

Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 9
First day back at work and thankfully not too much temptation when it comes to spending :rotfl:
I quickly popped over to our local charity shop (less than a minutes walk away from where I work) and picked up a brand new 80th photo album for my Mum which I am going to give to her with her birthday photos in (amazingly it was only a £1)
I also bought a paperweight for re-sale and hopefully will make a tenner profit.
I have often felt guilty about making profit from charity shops but my friend works for Sue Ryder and she says that dealers come in all the time and that she often holds items back that she knows will get the charity a good price.
No more feeling guilty"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 10
A day trip beckoned today for St Austell - my DD2 is going to Uni in September for teacher training but before she heads off she has to sit 'Professional Skills Tests' in English and Maths to show her competency in these subjects.
Penzance is approximately 1 1/2 hours away from St Austell and was the closest town where she could take the tests.
We decided to make a day of it and called in many of our favourite stores- a massive Cornwall Hospice Care shop and clearance warehouse, our favourite bakery as well as The Card Factory and The Works.
Our spending was not excessive at these shops - we bought lunch as well as birthday presents for my DD3.
We picked up a lightweight, sturdy Samsonite suitcase for £5 which we will use for NYC. RESULT! We also picked up a re-sale item for ebay which should do well
A weekly shop at ASDA and a quick pop into Bookers for some beefburgers ensured that we were ready for this evenings BBQ
....and the tests....they didn't happen
Although the computers were working, they couldn't connect to the system and so we are going to have to travel up to Plymouth on Saturday....my poor DD2"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 11
Well today is a special day for me as it is my birthday
Usually we would go out and explore a new town (to us :rotfl:) in either Cornwall or Devon but we have clocked up 1500 miles in the last 2 weeks and we are absolutely shattered and just wanted a quiet day a home.
So we had a semi duvet day going out for a walk on the beach at 7pm with our dogs - it was lovely.
Sadly not a NSD as we bought train tickets to get to Plymouth on Saturday for DD2 to sit these tests - we decided against going by car as the holiday traffic leaving Cornwall on a Saturday can be horrendous and seeing as the train was £33 for all of us I think we have made the right choice as it would cost that in petrol :T"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0
