I’m back :rotfl:
Successful day today - my DSis’s ood chicken & ham slices + the ood breaded chicken goujons were both subjected to the sniff test & the taste test for the slices - DH & I each had a chicken & ham slice - very tasty & no after effects 7 hrs later :rotfl::T The goujons were cooked & I taste tested - again absolutely fine - dipped in lo chilli dip for DH & a pot of barbecue dip from the freezer for me. Had a few left & DSis was persuaded to finish them off with the last of the barbecue dip when she returned home from shopping :T
Dinner was lo hm lasagne for DH & DSis - she had hers with salad, DH had his with salad & hm peperonata. I had a plate full of salad with the last of the peperonata & a one inch square of cheddar which I grated over the top. It was light, refreshing & very tasty  DH had dessert - the last of the apple & berry crumble with the last of the icecream :T
So no los & nothing thrown away - win-win :rotfl:
Thank you all for keeping me on track :T

MRs SD isn't it a great feeling when you have binned nothing yet eaten well
I have a bit of a hankering for a fish cake or two and I have a small piece of cod fillet in the freezer that I think will be dug out for tomorrow nights meal, I want to stick a bit of something nice in the middle so I think some cheese and maybe I will grate it up with a spoonful of my Holiday Mayo present that I bought myself
I went to the garlic farm on the IoW on holiday and brought home four jars of various flavoured garlic mayo's,
I have garlic mayo with chili, mint, lime and coriander or plain so any of those will definitely give my fish cakes a bit of bite
I love spicy highly flavoured food and I think fish need a bit of a kick to it or it can be a bit bland.
Right onwards and upwards

Another NSD today
:)
Tonight's dinner is a bit of a lazy affair comprising x4 (very) small chicken thighs from the freezer to be sliced/browned before adding to a jar of Kung Po sauce. I'll also throw in the last lo bits of sweetcorn, green beans and sugar snap peas from the fridge, along with some chopped red peppers from the freezer, all served with noodles. IIRC, the sauce was one of my clearance bargains that cost something like 40p.
This morning I had a tidy-up of my packets of cooking sauces and shamefully have to admit they're back up to pre-LFHW levels. Not going to say how many I have - it's just too embarrassing- but I've self-imposed a ban on buying any more this year. Anyway, they're now tidy and in date order and I've hoicked out the ood ones that are now in a box on the counter top to remind me to use these first. Three full and x2 half packets have already been incorporated into next week's meal plan.

Used some of our garden apples for some apple and cinnamon compote on top of our porridge this morning.
Lunch was some carrot and lentil soup for me and DS1.
For dinner I got a homemade cottage pie filling out of the freezer and used up some potatoes which are looking a little worse for wear.
As I had the oven on for the cottage pie, I filled a baking dish with a bag each of pear, Apple and blackberries from the freezer to cook down. DS will love it with some custard for pudding. Tomorrow if I get a chance I will make some crumble topping and cook it separately to add to the fruit. I've not tried it that way before so will see how that goes. I
I always try to use up everything anyway but I really want to try even harder if possible. I don't have many weeks left before my maternity pay stops and I go on unpaid leave so every penny will count.0 -
Cut up the last 2 whole kippers I bought RTC a while ago - never again! A lot of work for not much fish, but it went into a fish pie.
Our piggy pug got at the only butternut squash growing on the plant and chewed it a bit, it was still only courgette sized but I took chance and peeled it and cut off the chewed area then grated it and fried it lightly before adding it to the pie and it was lovely, so overall really pleased with reduced waste (dogs got the rest of the kippers!)0 -
Just pulled all of the bits of leftover veg out of the fridge to use up before it goes off & I have a large mixing bowl of marrow, butternut squash, carrots, spring onions, ginger, peppers, mange tout & cabbage to ram into a stir fry for lunches next week! I’ll add my leftover chickpeas & YS tofu & add buckwheat soba noodles with some soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce & white miso paste.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Tomato and lentil for my lunch today I add a dollop of sweet chilli sauce to mine as I enjoy spicy things
Mrs SD ah yes the dreaded sauce packets I had I think around 28 when started and I am down now to around 10 but I think.
I too shall put them in an old lid of a box on the side in the kitchen to remind me to use them up. Trouble is when your shopping and you see them on special offer or reduced it seems to good a bargain to miss ,hence the reason we collect them. I think.
I wonder how many households are like ours and have a collection stuffed into the back of the cupboard
Come on now chums, 'fess up go and count them and see who has the most
They all get used eventually but rarely when they are in date I think the oldest one I had was 2015 but I used it up about a month ago and it was fine, its all freeze dried anyway, (bit like the stuff explorers used to take with them on long tripsdidn't kill them either
Soon as the weather gets cooler I am going to have a good turn out of my kitchen cupboards and see what else is lurking there to use up
Have a great day chums

Thanks for that JackieO :T
Last night’s dinner was toad in the hole, mash, fried onions & lashings of gravy - very tasty but the batter did not cook as well as I would like well, as the sausages were too good quality & didn’t generate enough fatThere are 4 sausages left so I think I will scrape off the batter, & make another batter which I will cook properly, fry up the lo mash & sausages, heat the lo gravy & add baked beans to make dinner for 2 tonight & I will have grilled cheese on toast because I have a hankering:rotfl: The scraped off batter has gone out for the flying rats so maybe they will leave the bird feeders alone
- success:rotfl:
Tonight’s planned dinner of Austrian meatloaf, Austrian potato salad & salad or veg will be cooked for the weekend & Sunday’s planned veal escalope will now do for Monday :T so next week’s menu plan has a start :T
Thank you all again for keeping me on the straight & narrow:rotfl:
MrsSD
P.S. another reason it didn’t work is that I cooked on too low a heat - it is the only recipe where they have put the fan oven temp FIRST  Anyway, I made another large Yorkshire pudding at the correct temp :rotfl: & using lard & it was a joy to behold - apparently it was x10 better than last night’s effort :T + I thoroughly enjoyed my cheese on toast with a splash of Worcestershire sauce:drool: No los :TBe Kind. OK JackieO, you've twisted my arm and I've had a count-up. Here goes (deep breath) ........
Packet sauces: 24 full packets and 6 half-packets
Stir-fry sauces: 8
Jars/tins of various sauces: 19
Oh, the shame of it!You're right about buying them when on offer or reduced, they are too good a bargain to miss.
Just today I was in the sm and caught myself eyeing them up but I gave myself a good talking to, reminded myself about the self-imposed ban and walked away. :j I don't worry about the dates on them either but in my defence I've only a couple that have gone past their bbe date and they're in the "use up" box on the counter for this week.
Dinner tonight was a battered haddock each (courtesy of the chippy) and hm mushy peas.
Today's ys bargains were x2 individual S&K pies, x6 mini pain au chocolate, x6 sweet pancakes, a whole black pudding (all now in the freezer) and x4 slices of baked ham for sandwiches tomorrow lunchtime. Our 3 DGSs will be here and they've asked for pizza. No problem as I have everything needed to make my own.Be kind to others and to yourself too.0
