Good evening everyone,
My shorts are for home use too - they don't venture as far as the front garden.:rotfl::rotfl:
The rain stopped and it turned dry & sunny for a while - long enough for my sis and I to enjoy a cuppa and a catch up sitting in the garden.:) It's ready to tip it down again anytime now though. Sis was happy to receive the other half of the cue I picked earlier for her pack up tomorrow. I did offer her a whole one but she declined as wasn't sure she'd use it before it went limp.
Chairs have been buffed up and I'm very pleased with how they are looking.:D They are made from walnut and have a lovely patina on them from age & use which I was careful to try and not damage. Don't get me wrong, they don't look like new (far from it) but at 75+ years old with a lot of use/family living under their belt they are now looking "well preserved for their age" rather than careworn. It's been quite a lot of work but worth it. :)The table will be the next challenge as the top is quite badly marked & faded in places but as it will mainly be covered with an oil cloth, if I can get it looking a bit more loved looking I'll be happy.
My oomph now seems to have wandered off, better re-find it as I need to prep & cook dinner. I'll water the greenhouse & deck plants and hope that makes it wander back.0 -

Last night CBA dinner fail, the intended bread for toast had mould on it. Humidity I assume. So it was cheesy beans + eggs + bit of corned beef . Later I had some crackers & cheese
Sunny day, porridge for breakfast & then off out to RHS Wisley, there's a new bit I want to see & the roses should be at the peak now. All being well it'll be pub lunch, I've pencilled in ham, egg & chips even though I've no idea if it's on the menu
Luckily I've a just past BBE pack of PB baguettes so the lack of a loaf is not a hindrance until Wednesday by which time I'll have made another one in the BMEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I've had water and a smoothie so far today.
I'm waiting to hang out the washing on the line and then will go to the Turkish supermarket to buy some fruit and veg.
I'm having veggie sausages, new potatoes, salad and maybe salsa for brunch when I get in. I might clear out the patio and eat it out there on the chair as it is sunny again today.:)0 -
Must go out to water plants before gets too hot although seems to clouding over a little. Have taken hm mushroom pasta from freezer to have with cauliflower (use up). and a couple of sausages for tomorrow which I will have with a mini corn cob. Took a loaf out of freezer but then put bag of cake squares (traybake) in place, out of sight out of mind.0

Good morning everyone,
A bit of a sluggish start to the day for me as I didn't wake until nearly 9.30am  . I'm not sure how long I would have slept if a text arriving hadn't woke me up. Would love to say I'm feeling as fresh as a daisy but more tea is needed before I'm fully functioning.
Dry but cloudy today so far. Hopefully the rain will stay away and I can potter in the garden.
Egg mayo & cucumber sarnie and some fruit for lunch and I've a HM pork, sage & apple burger defrosting for dinner to have in a crusty roll with coleslaw, corn cob & salad.0 -
Ironic that I have a fridge full of food but as I seem to have what the baby had I need to restrict myself to dry cream crackers, water or flat coke.
I e mailed the library to say I was likely to still be contagious till Thursday so could not volunteer this week.
I know I wanted a kick start on healthy eating and losing flab but could think of less draining ways of doing it"This site is addictive!"

Back from a slightly too hot day out. Enjoyable though. And the pub had space plus ham, egg & chips was on the menu for my lunch.
All good until i rather foolishly fancied a glass of cola, Idiot, £2.75:mad: It wasn't real full fat stuff either, came out of pipe and nothing like I imagined, but it is years since I've had cola so maybe recipes & tastes change. Food was fine though
I'll bake one of the PB baguettes later for "dinner", with use up corned beef + sliced tomato fillingEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
Hope you feel better soon elona <<hugs>>
How much for draft cola Farway:eek::eek:, that's a complete rip-off:mad:. These days if I'm out for lunch I tend to just have tap water as I'm not a big soft drink fan and object to the cost especially for draft stuff.
Despite my long sleep I never really found my oomph today, not feeling unwell just a bit blah and off-balance. I suspect many hours restoring the chairs over the weekend may have something to do with it. Although it was a seated job I was crouched over most the time which my balance tends to rebel against. Hopefully an early night will do the trick.
It turned into a lovely day, not too warm and rather breezy but perfectly pleasant to sit out in which is what I mainly did this afternoon.:)
Rather than a crusty roll & corn cob with my burger & coleslaw I'm having potato waffles and roasted garlic mushrooms as I fancy these more. The roll & corn are frozen so nothing wasted or left to use up. Tomorrow I'm going to pick my first courgette:D, a round one the size of a tennis ball and I'll have that stir fried with some snowball turnip leaves, baby pak choi and the first dwarf beans. I'll have rootle in the fridge and see what other veg to use but it will be lovely to have a veg dish that is mainly homegrown.:D I'll defrost a lamb steak to marinate in herbs & garlic to cook with it.
I boiled five eggs today as the pack was a week OOD and I have another 1/2 dozen in the fridge. They were fine and passed the float test . Three were mashed with a little mayo for egg & cue sarnies today and tomorrow, two are in a tub to get used later in the week. Cucumbers are coming thick & fast so more egg mayo may feature. With lunch I had a handful of radishes which were more or less the last of the first batch I planted. I sowed some more last week and noticed tonight they have germinated.0 -
Caronc I find I can sometimes oversleep and a lie in can leave me out of sorts for the rest of the day, obviously your body needed it
Sorry your still feeling yuck Elona little children are the gift that keep on giving with regards to germs and bugs. Maybe not a diet I'll follow
Too nice to be at work today with a cooler breeze than the weekend, my newly retired neighbour took far too much enjoyment in telling me about their walk along the coast . IT system wise work is still :eek: :wall: with the usual beginning of the month stuff as well, I'm training someone to help with a piece of work which needs to be done the first week of the month, this month she's doing it by herself and I'm only helping if asked  I'm finding it hard to step back, but needs must and it's only day one
. I'll have to sneak a look early tomorrow to check she's doing it right, without knocking her confidence as she's on her own with it in September and I'm not taking my laptop away (no internet)
.
Lunch today was a couple of crustless quiches with salad, I'm not really that hungry so dinner has been really cba last of the seafood sticks (3) a mini quiche and an appleLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
