Edit - PN won't you need milk for Mac n cheeses?

Yes, but the pasta was bought for the cupboard really. It's a 500g bag and, as I've already got another 500g bag of pasta for mac cheese, the reality is that these two bags will last about 2 years :)

At some point in the next 2 years I will have milk.

Although the weather has been nice, being alone means that going out among crowds of families/friends/gatherings/groups is more daunting than most other times, so I've mostly stayed inside.

There's no joy to be had, plodding around in deep crowds and hoardes of people.... for no reason whatsoever, with no plan, no clue where you're going/what for ... and, too, I can't be "out with the hot sun on my head else I get light-headed/sick within 3-4 minutes". At times, over the weekend, simply stepping outside of my door into the sun in the garden was too much after 2 minutes.

Back again, stuffed silly at DD's yesterday, a buffet but all home cooked & not opened packet from T's , puts my CFO to shame. Her kids will be in for a big shock when they fly the nest:)

The M27 traffic was not too bad, busy but moving, the enforced average speed restrictions on the way may actually help with that

PN, know exactly what you mean about crowds this time of year, I avoid but like you I have the option to go another day

FlubbereyZ, thanks, the pizza mention has solved my lunch problem, YS mini one out to defrost for lunch.

While delving I spotted dinner, YS MFO chicken korma
Both items now defrosting on the metal draining board

I think I'm having a slouch day today, sitting outside at DD's they have these bench type seats you see in pub gardens, bench seat fixed to the table.

Which means balancing on one leg while the other steps over & in. No chance with that manoeuvre with my wobbles, so I perched on the end, which meant I was twisted round at times, and now my back hurts:(

I've prescribed Co- codamol, tea & Netflix binge PM:)
Food is all ding & ping
One bit of effort today, porridge breakfast & made up more yoghurt, plus some plants out to harden up a bit.

The climbing French beans are up and looking good, too early yet for outside

    Morning all,

I'm only working this afternoon, so having a lazy morning. Although I got up at usual time, on the vague possibility of work coming in for the morning, even though I knew that was highly unlikely!
I'll have an early lunch, then head off to work for about 12:15. I'm spending the afternoon with a Yr4 class I've met once before, which I'm scheduled to spend every Monday and Tuesday with from mid-May until the end of July. I have a few half-days with them before that though... Hopefully I'll find out a little bit more about the situation today, or on these half-days... My agency isn't always super-accurate about giving me all the correct information... So I want to find out for myself, before I commit to the longer-term gig.

For dinner tonight, I'm doing chicken, mash and some sort of beans... I've got a can of butterbeans in the cupboard, that have been there a while, so it'll probably be them.

I know what you mean about the crowds, PN. It can be hard, sometimes, to see families out and about, having fun, while you're alone. 99% of the time it doesn't bother me, but just occasionally I wish I had more people locally who might invite me for a BBQ or trip out. Especially when I see acquaintances on FB who always seem to be out doing something!

I didn't go out yesterday, beyond my early trip to the supermarket. I stayed in and pottered doing not much. I tended my house-plant collection, which are a joy at the moment, as they seem to be having a spring surge of life. Both my peacelily, and my spider plant are looking better than they've looked in ages!

  • Cup of hm parsnip and carrot soup same as yesterday, some honey roasted parsnip soup in freezer but want to make more using the carrots and parsnips from sm but need the freezer space first so have taken out the portion of hm sausage casserolle for today. May be going out for lunch tomorrow with friend but think I will suggest he comes here and I can use a ys piri piri chicken from freezer with some chips and sprouts with almonds, bought as a treat at Xmas. Made a piri piri turkey steak from a pkt, lemon, yesterday and it was so nice I ate both peices of the turkey steak, the mix was for 4 chicken breasts but I used it all on the 2 small steaks with mash and swiss chard, will see if I can find the mix again. Want to make mushroom pasta tomorrow if I do go out as I can make a small quantity for tea failing that it will be something with any left-overs from the chicken meal or toast etc.

    Good afternoon everyone,

Sounds like a lovely day Farway, shame you are so stiff. I have one of those benches so know what you mean by perching:eek:.
I struggle with crowds these days even if I'm not on my own, thankfully it's easy enough to get away from them here!
It's quite overcast here but still really warm, it's supposed to get sunny later. I've a good few things I want to get done in the garden before the weather breaks. My son has gone fishing, just to the local sandpits so I'm not expecting him to return with a catch. Cured samon & sourdough for lunch again and roast chicken leg, spuds and salad for dinner tonight.

I've had a healthy day. Cereal and almond milk for breakfast and then a lovely roasted tomato and harissa soup I made with a wedge of baguette. Yummy as well. I have two lots of soup for the next two days.

Took on far too much on Wednesday: mild headache and very tired for two straight days, then on and off for two further days. Had to sit down to prepare the leeks and the rhubarb for the freezer on Thursday! :(

Since there was a kilo of banana shallots, a kilo of red onions AND a kilo of leeks in the flat, on Friday I made a French leek and onion soup (alliums/ chicken stock/ lemon/ garlic) ....

All the chat here is making me crave granary bread - cheese on toast, eggy bread - and I don't usually bother about it!

.... but failed to get decent bread in the city centre to make cheese croutons for the soup.

Food waste: Two thirds of the leek and onion soup which someone left out of the fridge.

Saturday: Two week old, slightly wrinkled mango had a last minute reprieve! Ate the cheeks with the YS 'The Best' raspberries. Unimpressed with the raspberries - not sharp or sour at all.

Sunday: Somehow spent two hours making and sieving a berry smoothie (YS blueberries/ frozen berries/ beetroot/ Skyr/ coconut)! :p

Later had an orange fridge-bottom salad (carrot/ mini peppers/ an orange/ golden sultanas/ spices), and YS salmon with harissa paste.

Monday: Made another Waldorf-ish salad (red cabbage/ celery heart/ green apple/ dried sour cherries/ golden sultanas/ hazelnuts). Had half of the salad with the leftover salmon fillet.

Used up most of the target fruit and veg (mango/ freezer-burned beetroot/ organic carrot/ cabbage/ celery). :T

    Food waste: Pack of watercress.
