Delurking ... popped over from the 'Clutter-free Life' thread. :hello: I have been trying to reverse seven years of neglect of my flat, linked to poor mental health, low income and, increasingly, physical health issues.
Food-wise I am trying to eat better (again), reduce a mini stockpile of longlife stuff (cans/ jars), better rotate freezer contents (recently defrosted), and reduce fresh food waste (hit criminal levels in winter).
Planned to make two soups this weekend, primarily using frozen veg. Curried vegetable soup (butternut squash/ red lentil/ carrot/ red onion/ coconut) was done this afternoon. Once I added two tablespoons of madras curry powder and two tablespoons of madras spice paste it had a decidedly luminous tinge. :rotfl:
I also hard-boiled six eggs for easy meals or snacks. Might make the blue cheese and vegetable soup (broccoli/ leek/ celery/ garlic) later this evening .... after some wine.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Good evening everyone,
Sounds like a very frustrating day Brambling <<hugs>>
I've had a day of gentle pottering . I was mainly in the conservatory and as you say PN they are great for when it's sunny but cold outdoors. It was warm in there so I didn't notice how cold it had turned, stove is lit now so will soon be nice and toasty:).
A big pot of ham & lentil soup is more or less made, I'll finish it off tomorrow. It smells glorious, my sis popped by for a cuppa and was sniffing like a Bisto kid;), I won't be surprised if she appears tomorrow to get some to take for her work lunch on Monday:).
I remembered I had treated myself to a pizza for dinner tonight, it's my favourite bought one - spinach & riccotta as it was on SO this week. Lunch was a bacon and egg sandwich with HP sauce, messy but lovely.0 -

Hi Fire Fox  I'm still working out how to clear my freezer, it's a work in progress :rotfl:
Just finished work so it's been a long day 14.5 hours and we only get a=one day off in lieu unfortunately its the nature of the job  we still have system issues but IT are in India so they will investigate tomorrow as it's not a 'show stopper' just a PITA for some users
Dinner turned out to be a gammon salad, food has been a bit hit and miss today and now I'm off to find the gin :beer:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I can get ice & a slice sorted if you want - sounds like a well deserved tipple!0

Welcome Fire fox, I'm using your browser:D
Up & about early, needed to get cracking because today is "TV day"
ordered it from A8gos but need to collect due to weird voucher payment method, it's only a couple of miles away
DS is coming over to do heavy lifting, lugging, bending & head scratching to get the thing working as it should. It's got everything so no doubt requires umpteen passwords which I have to find between now & DS arrival
Breakfast of porridge
I remembered to remove the XCFO beef joint from freezer last night, it's now in the slow cooker for convenience with DS & TV I need something that can look after itself
Lunch, depends on DS & TV
Dinner will involve slow cooked beef somewherePasturesNew wrote: »I have a whole pack of crumpets... I think the date's tomorrow so I'll end up freezing some of them.
A few months ago I bought some wooden tongs to pluck things out from the toaster.... they work a lot better than I ever imagined. I use them all the time. No more poking about inside/near the hot metal bits to extract things.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Been a bit of an odd morning. There's a local car boot that runs once a month and today was the first one, it opens at 8am.
So I went car booting (rubbish, poor turn out, nothing of interest except one item). Then home and toasted two crusts that I topped with beans and scrambled eggs and did the washing up .... then it was 9.50 and I thought "4ldi's about to open, pop down and see if there are any YS". Well, there werent'. I was hoping for a pack of meatballs, which I'd have tossed into the SC. ALL they had with the red sticker on were two packs of steak burgers, so I left it.
Shuffled round, disinterested in the main, coming out with a pack of oven bottom muffins, a pack of chocolate oat biscuits, pack of crabsticks, tin of mixed beans, jar of brown sauce, 10 eggs.
Later on, therefore, I might make up some crab sandwich filler and fill 1-2 of those muffins.0
