We never has Xmas dinner growing up, just a buffet, I suspect due to being living in a pub, and there were a lot of us. My mum would buy a capon not turkey. I never had proper roast potatoes till I left home as our Sunday roast potatoes were always cooked in the chip pan, probably using the lo boiled potatoes from sat. Roast topside beef was also cooked in a casserole dish, with a gravy rather than traditional style roast and basting. She would cut thin slices of the joint whilst raw and they would be braising steak on Saturday.
I love cheesy chips Caronc, but never had with onion gravy sounds good!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Had another mince pie post lunch, full now
My that pot roast beef is smelling lovely when I open the kitchen door, looking forward to it, especially as the rain has returned & it's grey & dull now
I may be too full, or CBA, to prep / cook veg to go with beef, there are veggies in the pot so could just serve them alongside once I thicken up the gravy
Or just have some slices in a sarnie:o
I've been searching to try & find out what PN did to be in sin bin, found out, seemed pretty innocuous to me but as someone who sniggers in the "wrong"places my judgement in this day & age is not to be trustedNumerus non sum0 -
Was rushed off my feet at work - survived on just some free biscuits up until I left at 2.30pm. Stopped by T to get some cheese for pasta bake, milk & treated myself to some triple chocolate muffins & a pot of single cream. That'll be dessert after pasta bake - started cooking that now.
Sounds like everyone is gearing up for Xmas. I had a look at the party food & it's all so expensive! Now thinking to get a small bit of nibbles & a beef or lamb joint (half price) for XCFO day. I've potatoes & veg already & I rarely (never) have a beef or lamb roast.0 -
I've had a packet of hula hoops, a roll with vegan cream cheese and a coke.:o
I tried to take a nap but I couldn't fall asleep so I got up.
I made some steamed veggies and some olive oil roasted veggies and poured some red pesto over it. I will have that later as I need some vitamins!:cool:0 -
Candy I'm sure such sweet and innocent looking dogs don't really get up to much mischief :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'm currently using up holiday
between now and the 2nd January I'll work Friday in the office and then half day Christmas Eve but that will be from home
. I made the mistake of checking my emails earlier and I'm pretending I haven't read one of them  I would have to do some investigations before I answer and I cba.
Wet day on and off and is tipping down at the moment, I spent the afternoon putting up the tree under the suspicion watch of his lordship there has been a couple of 'leave it alone' from me I'm hoping I don't regret popping out later  I need to rejig a couple of baubles I think from where I'm sitting I can see a bare patch  tinsel has been left off I don't want a vet trip
:xmastree:
I was reminded by Living Proof yesterday that I had a avocado in the fridge which luckily had reached the prefect stage
I made a version of guacamole and had with some crackers for lunch
Dinner will be beef stir fry as I found some feather steak in the freezer and a mince pie, there's been too much talk of them on CFO recently so I'm having the first of the year
no cream and I must NOT pop into T Express on the way back home later
