Next door's cat has been sleeping on a chair for hours.... He was so motionless I had to have quick check to see he was still breathing, he wasn't amused at being disturbed.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Sorry I had to laugh as we use to do this to my mum when she got old and would fall asleep in her chair with her mouth open :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: she wasn't amused when she caught my sister with a mirror checking for breath :rotfl:

Weather picked up today so I was able to stretch my legs and clear my brain with a lunchtime walk :)

I have had a broken front tooth thanks to my low blood pressure, a few years ago I got up, passed out and 'kissed' the radiator  the repair falls off at least once a year  unfortunately it did whilst eating a sweet driving home tonight :( it doesn't hurt but it's a vanity thing :D I was able to park and just catch the dentist so I'm working from home tomorrow whilst they fix it again, An unbudgeted dentist appointment, but I'm lucky she could fit me in. There is some irony that one of the places I get wobbly is when I sit up from the dentist chair, it's written in big letters on my computer notes :o

Food wise was a repeat of yesterday, HM soup for lunch and the last of the chicken thighs and roasted veg for dinner :D followed by the last of the rice puddling.

LOL re the tooth - they define what I call a "perfect gentleman". My friend had a screw in one following a childhood accident which used come loose from the screw. As a poor student she didn't want to pay for it to be replaced so used to "fix it" with a well chewed piece of juicy fruit.:eek: We were out one night and met these two guys, one made her laugh and the tooth came out and fell into his pint. Without missing a beat he fished it out, returned it and carried on the conversation as if nothing had happened:cool::cool:

(I'd like to say there was a romantic end to this where they lived happily ever after to this but I'd be lying:rotfl::rotfl:)
Puss cat has woken & returned home so definitely alive :D

Money - meant to add, I usually cook a few portions of brown rice at one time as a batch takes the same time as a single portion. I portion it in 1/2 cup amounts and freeze.

I'm never quite sure whether I should do this or no.

I've not got/won't be getting a microwave (far too wary of them re the nutrients in food getting zapped out).

So - how do you reheat the rice?

If anybody were ever taking notes... I think we could all guess what I'll be having today:

1/ I'd bought a bread roll, froze it, defrosted it 2 days ago, made a tomato/egg roll yesterday, wrapped that in foil and put in the fridge. That has to be eaten today.

2/ I made a crustless quiche.... I cut it in half and ate half. That has to be eaten. That'll no doubt be served with chips and the remainder of the beans potted up in the fridge (er, that need to be eaten).

3/ Yesterday I made up a couple of monster-sized chocolate Angel Delights with the pint of milk that was BBE yesterday. That has to be eaten.

Either steam or pop in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes:)

    Good morning everyone,

No need to ponder over what to eat today then PN:)

My the weather is wild here today:eek:. I hoping it clears a bit before I'm out later.
Bread dough has been made and is on it's first prove.

I discovered this morning why my dip was so runny, I usually use two cans of butter beans for it, I found the second can (hiding in plain view:rotfl:) on the counter:o. I'll need to re-blitz it!

Up early again, pitch black, cuppa & Brexit:(
Living in interesting times as per Chines curse, not meant as a political comment, just saying

    Breakfast usual porridge
Lunch, I think it's the LO PB baguette, not sure what to fill it with
One CFO problem with PB baguettes I buy from L's, good value etc but two in a pack, and so once opened there's an orphan left behind

Dinner, no idea, could be frozen cod fillet & HM chips, or maybe not

Sun's out, forecast is warm, today could be daff day at last

My poor Dad has for the first time taken a bit of reaction to the flu jab he got on Saturday. He's spoken to the pharamacist who said there's been a few folk like him this year who are normally fine but it should settle in a few days. He must be feeling pants as he didn't do his usual circuit on his scooter so no visits for grub scrounging;).
    .

Same happened to friend of mine, came over "odd" the following day. Likewise same comment from others
I'm having mine next week, assuming the Doc's have not run out, pictures of long queues on local TV but that could be just a bit of sensationalism, scoured Hants & Dorset looking for a queue at Chemist;)

  • I got the flu jab the past few years as my husband had cancer treatment but I got the flu for about 8 weeks after I had the jab last year. I decided against getting it this year.

I have got a cold now, but it's definitely not the flu, thank Gawd.

I'm about to have a shower and go on my walk as I missed it yesterday as I didn't feel up to it. I need some fresh air today.

I had some wholemeal toast with a Quorn ham slice for breakfast and lots of water with fresh lemon and ginger.

I'm going to have a huge green smoothie when I get in, spinach, apples and bananas. I'm trying to kill this cold the natural way!

Lunch became the PB baguette with some tinned pork luncheon meat, the pinkish stuff + mustard

I thought I had a tin of corned beef in 'fridge, but it turned out to be PLM:(
Hence that was lunch, and the PLM needed clearing out, I only buy it once every umpteen years, similar timescale to a solar eclipse visible from UK;)

Turned out lovely and warm outside, most of the daffs now planted in pots near front steps. They are supposedly scented as well so I'll enjoy them come Spring
I've got one pack of 15 left to plant, but the back is playing up now so that's a job for maybe tomorrow

Dinner, spuds peeled & chipped, only need cooking. And somewhere in freezer is breaded fish. I think it's cod fillet but will only know once I get diving
I'll have some frozen peas with whatever it is

  • Well Farway - are you going to be brave enough to answer THE question re Brexit (well - as far as some of us are concerned:)) - aka "To what extent do we get our borders back up again - and when?" I've not dared take a look yet - because of distinct suspicion we might have been "sold down the river".

Anyways - on food-related thoughts. I went off to my dancing no problem and lunch out afterwards (vegetarian cottage pie). The size of the lunches aren't that generous where we go....so toast when I got back here. Now onto a sorta couscous pudding (from leftover couscous) and more toast - as I've had a "main meal" at lunchtime.

Out tonight - so wine will be consumed.

I think we can count this as being a DOD Day (ie Day Off Diet) Day.
  • Evening, all.

I've had two long days at work.
Lunches have been egg sandwiches & a couple of biscuits. Last night's tea was 2 bacon butties & tonight's was defrosted tuna curry & 3 chapattis. & A small tirimasu both nights.

My half day at work tomorrow has had to be moved to next week as I got told 1 hour before I finished today that I'm needed for meetings all day tomorrow. This makes it a very long week now - 6 full days. At least next week will now be super short as I'll be in Monday as normal, half days Tues/weds & then off til the following Monday. Can't wait for that.
