I'd consider an air fryer if my kitchen were larger and if I had more cupboard space... but things need to live somewhere when they're not being used and have somewhere convenient/safe to sit while being used.

So one'd be on the list, to be considered in the future, but, not if they're "family sized" :)

One can only possess so many gadgets ..... all doing different little jobs.

I've no burning desire for an air fryer. If I owned one it'd probably get used 1-2x a month... so you have to balance off the whim of ownership -v- the reality as well as the space to store/use... and, for me, it's not worth it at the moment.

    Good morning everyone,

Definitely on the chilly side here this morning but dry and bright so I'm not complaining.
My cold still lingers but I do think it is waning:).
My son has headed off so back to CFO for a couple of weeks before I have houseful the weekend of the engagement do.
Last night I made us pork, apple, sage & onion burgers which we had with baked spud, coleslaw & corn cobs rather than in a bun. They were a simple mix of 250g mince, a few tablespoons of dried stuffing, an egg and 1/2 an apple chopped small but really tasty. I'm glad the mix made 3 burgers and there is another one in the freezer to enjoy another time:D. I'm not sure what dinner tonight will be yet but I have broccoli, 1/2 pepper, 1/2 courgette & a small piece of chorizo needing used so it be based around those I think.

'morning all, another bright & sunny day, but I'm staying in today, I think I've sort of cold on the way, not sniffles or anything, just "not right" and a lazy day is on the cards after yesterday's out & aboutness

Last night's "dinner" finished up as cheese & onion sarnies, CBA to even open a tin of corned beef:o

    Porridge etc breakfast

I may have enough strength to open the corned beef & make a sarnie, including HM cooked beetroot for lunch

Dinner is thank heaven for the YS Hawaiian pizza I bought in L's on Friday. Use by tomorrow, loads of life left in it

Today's highlight so far is read the electric meter & enter on line, that's enough for one day:)

  • London style? Isn't that where all the fruit and veg are in stainless steel bowls?
I have an image of a house surrounded in bowls now.

I cook for 1, twice as OH & I don't enjoy the same food, currently I'm treating myself to either an M&S salad or eating in The Hub, the hospital canteen.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • I just had crumpets with Marmite and a cup of coffee.

I'm making a curry later but that might be for dinner. I'm not sure what to have for lunch...

Not had anything today so far. Tossed the second half of the loaf in the freezer last night as it was on its last date...

Today I plan to have that microwave pie, mash up the last two of the spuds and use up the last of the frozen veg. I'll also do a drop of gravy with that. That's the plan at the moment....

Still got two satsumas ... moved the bowl into here, to sit beside the dead telly ... might be reminded of them more often there ... or not ...

It's really sunny out there, no heating needed.... 65F/18C indoors.
  • Just about afternoon, all!

It's been a busy couple of days, so I've been MIA.
I've just returned from a trip over to Hobbycraft for a large sheet of cardboard for a project, and then Tesco.
I have Sister coming for tea tomorrow, and she has rather specific tastes, so had to get the required items to cater for her, which pushed my food spend up a tad, but should still come in well under budget.

I've just been reading your comments on Aldi vs Lidl. I only go to either of them occasionally, but usually it's Lidl, but only because it's a nicer, larger shop, with friendly staff and better parking. Generally though, I stick with Tesco, just because it's more convenient for me to get to.
I always get a trolley, unless I literally know I'm grabbing 3 things and that's it. Nothing worse than lugging a basket around, IMO! My Tesco do those half-depth trolleys as well, which are much easier to use than those huge, heavy, deep ones, which can be a nightmare to steer as well!

Dinner tonight will be 2 of those individual Chicago town pizzas. I could easily split them into two meals, with a bit of veg, but... can't be !!!!!d. I'm off this evening to meet a new child for tutoring at 6:45, so need something simple before I go. A Year 6 girl who needs help with English. I'll need to print off a couple of activities to do with her, but it's really hard to know where to pitch it, until you've met them. Parents are, in my experience, not terribly good at articulating what exactly the problem is.

On Thursday, I'm going down to Somerset for the day (long story for another time), and would rather not pay for food at the high train station mark-ups. So need to sort myself out a picnic lunch and evening meal. I'm thinking a few rounds of sandwiches, and some snacky bits. And plenty to drink. I'm not sure what, if anything, I'll be offered once I'm there.

    Good evening everyone
I hope your cold doesn't develop Farway and you are feeling better this evening
:wave:Hello Hester nice to see you popping in, I think your CFO situation isn't uncommon where folk have different food preferences or dietary needs. Though I do think it can go too far, one of my ex work colleagues basically made 5 different meals every night:eek:, she was always complaining about the cost and time taken but didn't seem to do anything about it! The only thing they all seemed to like was oven chips so they ate a lot of them.

Wednesday - I've not made a curry in ages, hope you enjoy it:)
18C PN - I wish, it peaked at 11C here:(
My word flubberyzing you are so busy, I hope you get some chill time this week:)

The sunny start to the day didn't last and by lunchtime it was grey and raw. We have gale force winds forecast for later and certainly I can hear the gusts picking up.

I spent today catching up on admin before an AGM on Thursday. I do like a play with a spreadsheet:D.
Lunch was a cheese, ham & coleslaw wrap with cucumber batons and a cupasoup. Tonight I'm making a sort of hash with onion, garlic, courgette, pepper, spud, tomato and chorizo. I'll have that with poached egg. That will use up some of the bits of veg lurking in the fridge.:)

    Evening :)

I've had the Monday blahs today, I think it's being woken up by the alarm rather than coming around slowly as it gets lighter, it definitely felt that someone had stolen my weekend :( I laid in bed doing an inventory of me before I forced myself up as everything was working as it should :) so no excuse not to go to work :rotfl: at least the sun was shining and it was warm enough to walk lunchtime without a jacket.

Farway I hope you haven't caught Caroncs cold :)

Lunch was HM scotch egg and salad, I'm wishing I made more than two now  but there was only two sausages in the freezer and I wasn't going out for more. Dinner was Nasi goreng, which means I have LO chicken biryani and Nasi Goreng so tomorrow could be a double rice day  just to clear it out of the fridge and start a fresh Wednesday.

  • PasturesNew, i'm with you on the airfryer. It'll be a novelty for a couple of days & then get consigned to sitting on top of fridge never to be used again....
I tend to chop Charlotte potatoes into wedges, toss in a bit of oil/salt/pepper & they come out near enough like chunky chips.

I think I'm getting a cold, too. Can't stop sneezing & felt run down & feverish at work. Feels like the worst is still to come.

I've eaten 4 small samosas from the freezer with a pot of natural youghurt for tea, & a pack of two egg custard tarts that were YS 19p in mini SainsB's. Also got some bread for work sandwiches.

The egg, black pepper & mayo lunch sandwich was nice. Looking forward to that again tomorrow. Just hoping I make it through the day.
I'm working overtime an extra two hours a day & a full extra day on Wednesday. The pay at double time is great, but it's extra tiring when you're not feeling the best.
