Only 4 days to the weekend Brambling;)
I do like nasi goreng, used to be a regular Monday night dinner when the boys were at home especially if I cooked a gammon joint on a Sunday. It is hard to make a small amount though. I'm not the biggest rice fan, I like it but a portion a week is enough for me, so for me either the biryani or the nasi goreng would heading for the freezer as I don't think I could eat rice for two meals. :)

PasturesNew, i'm with you on the airfryer. It'll be a novelty for a couple of days & then get consigned to sitting on top of fridge never to be used again....
I tend to chop Charlotte potatoes into wedges, toss in a bit of oil/salt/pepper & they come out near enough like chunky chips.

I think I'm getting a cold, too. Can't stop sneezing & felt run down & feverish at work. Feels like the worst is still to come.

I've eaten 4 small samosas from the freezer with a pot of natural youghurt for tea, & a pack of two egg custard tarts that were YS 19p in mini SainsB's. Also got some bread for work sandwiches.

The egg, black pepper & mayo lunch sandwich was nice. Looking forward to that again tomorrow. Just hoping I make it through the day.
I'm working overtime an extra two hours a day & a full extra day on Wednesday. The pay at double time is great, but it's extra tiring when you're not feeling the best.
Would seem to be the CFO lurgy season, I do hope I didn't spread my germs......
Get that chicken soup made :rotfl::rotfl:Jewish penicillan and all that:)

:rotfl::rotfl:that's the sort of thing I do and then go to try & cook the original dish and wonder why I don't have what I need:o.
  • I'd forgotten about chicken soup being good for colds, Caronc. That'll be tomorrow's tea!

The first time I saw the word nasi goreng, it was a packet in L1dl... had no idea what it was, so ignored it. It didn't look very interesting and it's pricey.

That one says pork, egg, leek - not a fan of pork or leek.

After about a year they were still selling them, so one day I picked up the packet to read what on earth it was.... it seemed to be something with ham in it. I am not a fan of ham ... so put it back on the shelf, satisfied I was "informed". :)

I've had some chocolate digestives and some choccies for tea .... and a satsuma.

PN - To me Nasi goreng is a real use up dish, not something you buy pre-made. Meat/fish (if you have it), veg, rice in any combination you fancy, some soy sauce and optional spices/chilli sauce. Topped with either a fried/poached egg or shredded omelette. Don't let the packet stuff put you off -it could be a good "recycle" for a LO takeaway;):)

Good stuff - hopefully it helps:D
Tonights hash/stew looked like a mess in a bowl but was super tasty. I'm sure the spice (it was spicy chorizo) is doing wonders for my cold:D

I tend to make mine with pork mince, but usually because it's always YS in W*itrose :), it ideal for using LO rice (I had some in the freezer) and as Caronc said veg and ginger, garlic, chilli, fish sauce, soy sauce and sesame oil it's a real throw together meal with an egg on top :) except the plan was for meatballs :rotfl:

Pretty much a list of things I've never had in the house.

I've usually got some chilli powder, for chilli con carne... but the rest, not really/never.

So, nasi goreng, is just what I'd call "rice with other stuff in it, served hot".

Good job I never did waste £2.50 on it then!

Increasingly, these days, people come out with "fancy names" for stuff most of us have often cooked.... only we didn't give it a fancy name :)
