  • Evening all!

I had a nice couple of hours out at the County Day. Not enough there to make a day of it though. There was the space to make it twice as big. Although it was nice to have something local to go to, rather than always having to trek to places!

I've currently got a pizza in the oven... Which is about as exciting as my evening gets! I'll probably just watching something on Netflix and chill. Shaping up to be a fairly intensive week ahead, so I'll get my rest in now!

I had mini pork en croute, pur!e de pomme de terre and haricots en sauce tomate.
    Like it:rotfl::rotfl:

    Good evening everyone,

Floors were duly hoovered and mopped after which I did very little. Weird mix of sunshine and showers today mainly both at the same time:eek:, made interesting watching from the comfort of my conservatory;). It's getting very cold here this evening ao the heating will be going on shortly.
A pan of mash has been made so not much to do for dinner. I've not had a pork chop for a while so I'm looking forward to it.
From tomorrow I'll be mainly non-CFO for the rest of the week as my son arrives. I've promised him a roast beef dinner:).

I had to double check it was your post when I started to read it PN :rotfl: I thought you had gotten all posh on us :D

Champagne and curry Wort sounds like great evening :)

Didn't sleep well last night, one of those where you go to bed tired and your brain then goes into overdrive, I last looked at the clock at 2am, it won't have been so bad if my furry alarm clock hadn't sat on my head at 6.30am  I tried going back to sleep after letting him out and feeding him but no such luck :o

Spent a good while gardening in the front garden today around interruptions from several of my neighbours  I'm not complaining it's just sometimes over friendly neighbours means it takes longer to get things done, once we've caught up. I managed to fill up my gardening rubbish bin before I finally gave up, it was a case of jumper on, jumper off as when the sun came from behind the clouds it was very warm.

I must find a belt, my gardening jeans have gotten far too big :D and I almost mooned by 86 year old neighbour I didn't hear him come up behind me and when I stood flashed a half moon before I could hoist them up :rotfl: I've managed to lose 1.5 stone so far :T

Late breakfast before I started gardening was bacon, egg, mushrooms and beans, so no lunch :). Early dinner thanks to Caronc was aubergine and courgette parmigiana, I haven't made it for a while not sure why I've never griddled my onions before adding to the sauce or adding bread crumbs to the Parmesan it made a lovely crunch I was tempted to pig out but resisted :rotfl: LO for Tuesday I think as Caronc has also given me a idea of pork chop with mushroom sauce for tomorrow. I also made celeriac, chicken and sweetcorn soup for lunches next week.

Glad so see you had a good day Flubberyzing :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the aubergine & courgette parmigiana. I do love a crunchy topping:D. Soup sounds lovely. I seldom buy celeriac, I really like it but it's expensive round here for even a tiny one so it's a treat. I usually make rosti with it.
  • That's what we like to hear Brambling - ie jeans falling down. We won't call you Flasher:rotfl: - but 1.5 stones gone has got to be good news:D. Do you mind saying how long it's taken to get rid of that amount?:)

Tried a recipe from the latest cookbook tonight by A Girl Called Jack. It was mushroom and tea bourgignon. Eaten with couscous and steamed spinach accompaniments.

Well - I don't actually like tea and only keep it in as part of drinks selection for other people. I did think I wouldnt be able to taste it amongst the other stuff (like garlic and tomato puree amongst other ingredients). She puts it in for the tannin - ie instead of red wine I gather. Come to think of it - might as well get rid of the tea - as visitors always request real coffee or, occasionally, fruit teas these days.

I could taste the tea:(. It wouldn't have been a bad recipe - if it wasnt for that. I have a second portion to eat tomorrow.

Well - I'll eat it up - and will probably do it again - but with red wine or grape juice instead of tea in future.

I picked up two celeriac YS less than half price in W*itrose (Sainsb*urys tells me they can't get them?) I like them added to the potatoes and onions when I make potato Boulangere, I've some left so may try making a rosti :)

Adding tea does sound strange Money I think wine is a better option and then there's a glass for the cook :o. I started at the beginning of July so it's been 3 months to lose the weight, it's a slow but steady process :D

:eek:Money - that sounds plain weird to me, I like tea and generally like Jack's recipes (especially from the early days) but that just sounds like trying too hard....

A book I look to when I want to sub ingredients is this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Flavour-Thesaurus-Niki-Segnit/dp/0747599777 it's never let me down yet.
Lucky you re the YS celeriac Brambling:D

The fact is, in my world, a spade is a spade :)

There are an increasing number of people, labelled "influencers", who have never seen a spade.... these people who do not have spades in their lives live fabulous lifestyles :) I think they use hand forged eco-friendly earth revitalisers that are locally sourced :) Those people eat food with posh names, that breaks down to "so you had egg and chips then".

I don't need to "big up" my life .... it's large enough for my liking :)

    ...
The fact is .... it's easy to write a recipe and hate it, but write it up anyway if you have "followers" ... and if anybody dares to mention "yuck, could taste the tea", just glibly respond "Well I couldn't, perhaps you used different tea to me.... anyway, we're all different and isn't that marvellous" to get out of it :) quickly followed by a promotional bit "... I'm sure you'll find plenty of delicious recipes in my new book to enjoy!"

Maybe she hated it too and never made it again.
