Woke up here to very low water pressure...
There's that first, heart-sinking moment of "OMG, do I have an expensive problem/leak that I need to get an emergency plumber round for ... and what could it be? What horrors will he find? Can I afford it?" before you can discover "it's them, not me, it's everybody"0 -
PN- That's why I justify (to myself) that it's perfectly reasonable for me to have 2 freezers:D0

For ex-families, that are now CFO, that's more possible than a CFO who has always been single, because we are less likely to have ever had the ability to buy the larger "family home", iyswim.
I'd not have room for a second one... I've a 2-up-2-down and a freezer in the 11'x12' living/dining room isn't a good look0 -
Absolutely PN - when I was first married my kitchen was so tiny that the fridge/freezer had to live in the living room which I hated but at least the kitchen was off of this.0

Family: Bake 2 pies, eat one, freeze one. 2nd pie's eaten in one sitting to free up space.
CFO: Bake 2 pies, cut into four pieces each, freeze 7 pieces - that's seven meals you have to eat before the same space has been freed up in the freezer.
Also, families can buy/eat things more easily in one go. e.g.
Family: 1.5Kg of frozen chips. One meal, serve with that first pie. No frozen chips in the freezer now.
Single: 1.5Kg of frozen chips, pour out a portion, put the rest of the bag (still almost full) in the freezer alongside those 7 portions of pie.... it could be weeks/months before that pie/chips are eaten, while the family has nothing lurking at all and has spare space for new things, different things, etc.
Exactly we live the same lives
One pack of mince can equal so many meals particularly when you add all the gubbins for, for example chilli. I know its an age old whinge but grief its frustrating sometimes. Good job there isnt a Greggs next door or I would just live in there :cool:0 -

"Fortunately", I rent my flat - so if the problem was me, cost-wise it falls to the letting agents/landlord to solve it!
I know what you mean about the CFO problem of a single meal taking up too much space. I have one of those narrow fridges, with 3 smallish freezer drawers at the bottom. If I get a rare bag of chips for instance, they take up most of a drawer when the bag is still quite full!
My mum now lives alone, but as she's still in the much larger family home, she has a fridge AND a separate huge standing freezer! I'm so jealous! Room for chips, bread, ice-cream, meat!Because it's fun to have money!

Yesterday I found myself in one of those "pound shop variations" - and spied a bag of chocs I thought I'd tried before/liked... so bought them.
They're not good. I think they were on my "don't buy those again" list and I got it wrong.
But ... they existed ... so I've already eaten the whole bag (~250grams).
I'll have a bit of toast later... might chuck some beans on that as I opened the tin yesterday.0 -
PN, shame about the pasty, I know what you mean though, I found the Gregg's stuff is not for me. We have a new genuine Cornish pasty shop here, made & trucked across from Cornwall. Their pasties are nice, but OMG over £3:eek:, currently they have £1 off coupons so may treat myself soon
Caronc, yep 2 freezers, but I think I mentioned I am now driving around in my second planned one, can only spend one pound once:D
I found I have 3 stomachs, one normal, one for pud and an emergency overflow one for cheese:o I had cheese & apple later on yesterday evening
Furry veg, not sure how true it is but I believe that L & A do not routinely spray preservative on their fresh F & V, which is why it goes furry quickly, that plus poor stock control in that particular shop
I'm in this morning, a bit of a sort out paperwork day, plus it was raining, now stopped
Breakfast was porridge, banana, honey & yoghurt, opened new pot of Iceland Greek [will I now be in trouble with thought police for cultural appropriation?:D] I'm trying it as a starter for my new batch
Lunch, was going to be sandwich but toasted cheese is now beckoning having seen Caron post.
Today is just the weather for my planned PN inspired C & O pasty, mash & beans dinnerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
