Today's been one of those days with major system issues
so a lot of flack from everyone aimed at us as we get caught in the middle between IT and the users. Although I appreciate it's a pain especially as it's not just month end but half year as well IT'S NOT MY FAULT :mad: so 3.00pm I told a colleague in the States that we were doing nothing to help solve the problems in fact we were all sitting with our feet up drinking gin, eating chocolate and saying sod the users :rotfl: she did say sorry for 'the way she had phased the opening of our conversation'. We did get our own back and all left on time at 5, I emailed her to say it's all your problem now
tbh most of the issues had been resolved it was just a little flaky
Lunch was a Jamie O recipe for Waldorf salad (going retro again) too much faffing about for me for not enough reward  roasting grapes and walnuts !! I made use of turning the oven on to cook a pb roll, and the dressing was a'heathy' one of fat free yoghurt, mustard and parsley. If I make it again I'll stick to the original, sorry JamieI brought a Chelsea bun to compensate
it was needed :rotfl:
Dinner was some 'lightly' dusted plaice fillets and veg I cba to do chips :rotfl:
Must shift myself to open the fridge and hope for ideas to take to lunch tomorrow :think:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Much as I like JO recipes I hate when chefs/cooks fiddle with the classics - I'm in the life is too short to peel a grape never mind roast them camp;)
Hope you don't go into mayhem tomorrow and that there is a large gin with your name on it nearby:D0 -

It was commented that if I took the train to work tomorrow they would be checking my water glass :rotfl: tbh i don't think IT had any idea what was wrong so it was a case of try something, oh that didn't work what can we try now !!
The JO recipe seemed a good idea when I started and I had all the ingredients, I knew before I finished it wasn't such a good idea, as you say life is too short to peel a grape or stuff a mushroomdefinitely not one for the book

It's been coming up again now each year ever since and I've got quite a bit out there growing - shame I can't just wing some over the ether to you.
So - you could try that for future reference - ie once you find a "pot" of them.0 -
I'm not well... so feeling sorry for myself (nobody else will, it's MY job).... and I'm bored, bored, bored of food.... but had to get some basics in (completely out of baked beans!). I also wanted to stock up on my favourite fizzy as in this hot weather I've been getting through up to 2 litres/day and I only have 8 litres left.... and, as they say there's a CO2 shortage issue for drinks I thought I'd get another 6 bottles now rather than regretting making the effort if the shelf is empty over the weekend.
So ... short list of food to get .... set off for L and then A.
L list was short: fizzy + cocktail sausages. Got those and managed to come out of there with a pack of sausage rolls too .... and a random jar of hot chilli sauce, a new jar of salad cream .... and 2 bananas. I'd have liked to have got chips and hash browns, but they're frozen and I was off to "A" next, so didn't fancy lugging frozen from one shop to another in case I was held up with an unexpected event.
Into A ... simple list: tomatoes, bread rolls, eggs. Toms are in their special price at 39p/6, so I grabbed those. Got two peppers at 39p each (multipacks of 3 are 89p, but you get stuck with the green one that isn't very summery/nice a lot of the time)... NO bread rolls! Again! Not the ones I go in there for! grrr... so I randomly grabbed some small tortillas and pitta (I've no idea why, but it seemed a good idea at the time). Beans, yep, got those, eggs. Yep.
Right ... where are we at? Bit disappointed to have failed to get a couple of things, so randomly decided to buy a pint of milk (tortilla quiche ideas with those tomatoes and peppers ... or something) ... and I decided to buy corned beef (5 slices) and a pack of four egg custard tarts. Some chocolate was also bought ... as you do.
So I've got something different, plenty of food and some treats. Well over a week's worth of food there... snacks, treats and nibbles.
I really wish I'd managed to get the bread rolls, but they keep running out of them. I suspect it's because people have been grabbing them for BBQs.... the bar stewards. If they're not good enough for you normally, why buy them now and deprive me of the only ones I like.
Yesterday I removed two bits of quiche from the freezer and stuck them into the fridge to defrost, so I guess today I'll be having the quiche ... and, er ... chips as I've never got any salad... and chips are always better than salad aren't they0 -
Hope you feel better soon PN <<hugs>>
Good morning everyone,
Scorcher again today so I nipped out early and watered the garden/greenhouse before it too warm to be in the direct sunshine.
Usual toast for breakfast & I 'll use up the last of the gammon for lunch but I've no idea what to have for dinner yet. Definitely something that doesn't require too much standing in a hot kitchen.0 -
vendor from hell, playing the sympathy card, a lifetime of stuff that she wants to offload on me. I almost pulled out this moning, had enough. Ea is stepping up at last, should have done so at the start, will support her and is telling her to leave me alone and to leave the house empty
Had another lunch meal at breakfast because food is becoming so erratic here. Had flax crackers and cheese and hemp drink. Should make a salad but will probably make a green drink as I cba cooking beetroot. Photos for my house in 2 weeks, so copious watering ahead, oh dear and now my stress headache is coming back0 -
In fairness Kittie - she may just be thinking of it as "This/that/that is still perfectly good and I'm being helpful to offer it to her". A younger person/couple setting up home for the first time might be glad of some of it - to save themselves money whilst renovating the house to modern standards.
It's easily possible to not answer the phone the second it rings and then dial up on it to see who it was that called/if a message has been left or ring right back if it's someone one wants to speak to.
It's no big deal imo just to say "No thanks" to this/"No thanks" to that etc.
I got the impression you are buying this house from "capital", rather than from "sale of current house"?? and then replenishing that capital from your sale?? I may be wrong on that obviously.
If I were paying £25k less than the asking price for a house that had just come on the market - then I'd just grit my teeth/smile sweetly/get rid of owt I didnt want that was still there afterwards (quick call to a house clearance company = job done).
It's unnerving to up sticks and swop houses Kittie in any circumstances - for both you and her and I'd just think "I've been looking for months/I'm ready to go - this too will pass" and carry right on with my purchase personally. It's so blinkin' difficult to find the Right House in Right Location at the best of times ...whatever the finances involved....
Hope you'll take this in the (helpful) spirit it's meant....0 -
I`ll just say that she has a very cluttered house and does not want to pay storage charges or have the bother of having it all removed. She is needy but I am not her best friend. 20 years caring and now a widow, this was her first house in the uk. EA says that she has no idea how things are done and at long last he is stepping up to the mark and doing what he is being paid to do ie supporting her. Leaving stuff is the easy way out but anyway, it has moved forwards and my solicitor is very reassuring and all will be documented. It is now illegal to leave anything except an empty property, apart from items that are recorded as wanted by the buyer
Food is fine, at least I am eating and no doubt will have lost some weight0
