  • klew - doesnt solve the problem for now. But for future reference re chives - I bought one of those little "pots" of chives (just a standard one from T*sco as I recollect) and planted it in the garden.

It's been coming up again now each year ever since and I've got quite a bit out there growing - shame I can't just wing some over the ether to you.

So - you could try that for future reference - ie once you find a "pot" of them.

Well done! I hope it's as smooth a transaction as you deserve.

And they say "older people" are struggling to find something to downsize to .... :)

That'd be a SERIOUS upsizing for most!

I remember finishing off yesterday with more sweeties and some ice cream.

    Today I've had:

    Breakfast: 2-3 fruit pastilles.
Lunch: the last 3 snack sausage rolls, with the last of the chocolate peanuts for afters :)

It's so HOT! I had a bath/washed my hair to feel better... came downstairs, stepped outside into the sun and within 1 minute I was feeling "all overcome by the heat" and had to come indoors again!

I'll stick my thermometer out there in the shade, see what it says. Inside here it says just 78F/25.5C.
  • Admits to serious envy at the thought of a quarter acre garden:rotfl:

    But - enjoy it Kittie....:)

I completely forgot about the thermometer that I put in the shade - and I looked and it was in the sun! 113°F/45°C

Moved it back to the shade now .... and, over time, it's gone down to "just" 93°F/34°C :)

It looks like it's still going down a bit - there's a breeze whipped up there now.

EDIT Temperature: It finally went down to 86°F/30°C

This morning I woke up to a swollen throat, slightly sore... and I assumed it was the cigs.... but I've just started sneezing, so maybe I'm coming down with a stupid cold. That'll be what happens when you go out in common shops among the great unwashed! I didn't use a basket, to try to minimise germ transference.

Congrats Kittie on the garden with a house chucked in, sounds ideal

Like everyone, hot hot hot, bit of a breeze but not doing much to cool things down, even large trees with deep roots have wilting leaves in this sun

Breakfast, back to porridge, banana, honey & HM yoghurt. Fresh batch of HM yoghurt opened this morning, this batch seems to have set nice & thick unlike last lot

Into town, running out of squash & fizzy water so got some more in, and a mixed pack of crisps, for Sunday with grandchildren, otherwise nothing exciting about

Lunch was my trial of corned beef & beetroot sandwich, I'll put it OK slot, think I prefer with piccalilli, or just pain old English mustard

Because I've opened the corned beef, dinner is some of that, with Actifryed frozen chips, and probably CBA salad, or maybe fried eggs, depends just CBA I feel at the time
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

I had a portion of choc/mint ice cream (unfortunately I'm still ploughing through the tub I'm not overly impressed with.... one big portion to go, or two reasonable portions).

    I've had lots of sweeties.....

And I just cracked open a jar of crab paste (proper job shipphams) and spread that over two pieces of toast ... and, by golly that was lovely - if I CBA I'd go and make another slice. The rest's in the fridge for tomorrow.

Farway you got it in one, garden first, house second. I am so tired now, paperwork coming at me from all angles, a very needy vendor who doesn`t stop talking and so on. Two things now:

Lanscaper/designer will be employed autumn because no way can I go from turf to raised beds and paths by myself, again and I am going to ask local reliable handyman to co-ordinate gutting, electrics, plumbing etc. I will have quite a small window to get all that done and tbh I got the house 25k cheaper than list and 5k less than my first plan so s*d the cost

I have eaten but don`t really know what, lamb and kale at breakfast and I think salad later. I hate these bitty days

The mint, chives and thyme I have in my garden were all originally SM pots as is the big bowl of basil I have in my kitchen which came originally from a pot I bought at Easter.:)

    Good evening everyone,

It's been another scorcher even warmer than yesterday so I've been mainly lurking in the veg patch to find some shade. Book, cold drink, specs, chair and a builder's bucket full of water to dip my feet and I was quite content.:D HM "pesto" has not been made :o but I will make a batch over the next few days and freeze what I won't use in a couple of days in an ice cube tray so I can just take a few blocks out when I want some. There is still no sign of any runner beans but the dwarf French beans planted at the same time have a good few pods:), the climbing French beans were started later so only just coming into flower. My first (and so far only) cucumber should be ready in the next couple of weeks, I do wish the other plants showed signs of fruiting but that said I haven't had a proper look so there might be wee ones lurking. I had a :D :Dat the wee fella next door (he's 6), he was on the other side of the fence when I was watering the garden and I could see him peering through so I said hello. Cue the questions re what I was doing followed by "can I help you?" (aka- that hose looks fun) Yes ask your Mum if that is ok, it was - I don't think my garden has been so thoroughly watered since my own kids were small, simple pleasures:D. I let him pick some peas and he was fair delighted eating them straight from the pod and was a good lad and took a couple of pods for his older sister, though I'm not sure they might not have been scoffed before she got them.:rotfl:
Lunch today was a gammon & coleslaw sandwich with some fresh pineapple chunks on the side. There is enough gammon left for lunch tomorrow so I'm please with how much I got from a small piece, one main meal, 3 lunches, stock and I gave my Dad a couple of decent slices when he popped by earlier. There is still about 1/3 of the pineapple left too, it was a big one, so what's left after tomorrow I'll freeze. Easy dinner tonight of breaded haddock & oven chips from the freezer with asparagus and some peas & radishes from the garden.

That's why I don't want to move as although I have a house a little bigger than I want to get what I ideally would like house space-wise I would need to sacrifice on the garden if I want to stay in the local area (which I do) which is a no-go for me so I'm staying put. I hope it all comes together smoothly for you kittie:)
