Cooking for one (Mark Three)

I made another sandwich - more of that tub of coleslaw I bought and one of the tomatoes (dated 15 May)... just one of those to go.
It was passable .... didn't bother with lettuce this time as I CBA to put three items into a sandwich that was so wet and sloppy....
Bit more chocolate consumed... and some fruit pastilles .... crisps have been eaten today too.0 -
I'm glad it Friday, it's seems to have been a long 4 days, my manager let us leave at 4pm tonight
I think he just wanted the week to end as well. :rotfl:
I've been fighting a tired headache all day, I've ordered some rescue remedy as per kittie suggestion, definitely feeling a lack of sleep today. No rain but it's been muggy today which probably hasn't helped
Salmon and broccoli quiche with salad for lunch. Dinner was steak and HM chips, not a fancy steak just a nice frying steak, decided against a glass of red as I didn't think it would help with the headache.
No plans for the weekend I think I'll potter around the house and garden I might go as far as the garden centre which is less than a five minute drive away

It's been a funny week of eating for me. Since Sunday lunch time I've been away, entertaining my American friend, who comes over about every 4 years for a visit. While I enjoy having her, I find it a bit hard-going. She rather assumes I want to give up the bulk of my half term week off to entertaining her. Having someone else in my space 24 hours a day for 6 days is a lot for me, as I'm naturally quite introverted.
Anyway, meals have all been snacks/meals out. But I have been fairly healthy with them, and we've walked absolutely miles!!Because it's fun to have money!

Lunch was a ¼ of the quiche I bought the other day ... with some more of that salad bag (it's never ending, still some in there) ... the last of the tomatoes... the end of the big tub of coleslaw ... and some sliced pickled beetroot I've opened as I don't want a large glass glass of pickled beetroot to be part of "moving day".
I'd have rather had chips than all that salad stuff.... got rid of most of it, but there's still one portion of the lettuce
I've probably earnt some chocolate now.... a reward for eating salad.0 -
I had thought about staying in today when I woke, bit dull out.
Then remembered my prescription runs out tomorrow, so had to get to chemist, and then sun came out as well.
Up to my normal porridge, banana , honey & HM yoghurt & pot of tea breakfast
Into town, jackpot on YS bananas, over kilo for 10p, I bought two packs, they are not too bad, more the odd ones folk snap off a large bunch. It will be banana loaf later in the week once they start going over, meanwhile good to eat as is
Into Costcutter on way to chemist, lunches solved, YS pork pie collected
Lunch was 1/2 the pork pie, eaten with the last scrape of piccalilli left in jar
It is nice enough for a spot of gardening but I need to research booking a room in Plymouth, my normal lovely B & B is full that week, so a venture into the unknown. There are lots of choices of course, just finding one in price range with parking and lower floor rooms or a lift limits it a bit
Dinner, just do not know, I could have the other half of yesterday's corned beef hash, which was OK BTW but nothing special, I'll not bother with that again
So dinner is CBA & TBA so farEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Quiet day today, I couldn't shake off my headache until after lunch, so avoided doing too much especially in the garden as I didn't want to end up with it all weekend. Which was a shame as it was gardening weather
Lunch was some more of the quiche I had yesterday and dinner was a pork chop I saut!ed some LO new potatoes and served with veg.

Chinese takeaway ....
Still got a bit for tomorrow, but I really tucked into it tonight first, rather than making it stretch to 3 days.
They give you a large bag of prawn crackers too, which I didn't touch, so they'll be scoffed in the coming 4-5 days.0 -
Good evening everyone,
I'm late online today due to being out and about this morning, having a much needed snooze, planting veggies and then a visit & a natter with my sister. The day has just flown past:).
I woke to mist this morning though still warm & humid, the sun broke through this afternoon but it's definitely a lot cooler and fresher today. It's drizzling now and I've had to put a light cardi on!
I managed to get the builders tubs for some more veggies filled and planted. Chard, giant mustard leaf, calvo nero and kholrabi are all in and have been well covered with slug pellets:eek:. These veg are all either very expensive or impossible to buy round here so fingers they do ok. I've grown chard & mustard leaf before but not the other two so will see how they do.
Lunch was a quick ham & salad roll and tonight I having a griddled herbed pork steak with flat mushroom, tomato, broccoli and jersey royals. I seem to be living on a veg, protein, jersey royal combo just now but it's tasty and quick to do when I'm either gardening or not wanting to cook much in the heat so I'm not complaining:D.0 -
Dull and not too warm today, still no rain.
Had toast for breakfast then had spicy chicken salad sandwich with yogurt and seeds and a satsuma. At work for lunch.
My dd1 came and picked me up from work and took me for chips and gfree fish for tea. Then she's spent the last few hours trying to download photos from my cameras and hubby's old phones onto a memory stick.
It's not half complicated. Some photos have gone on the Google photo thing and we can't get them off!!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Good morning everyone,
It has rained steadily but lightly all night and it's still raining. The garden is loving it.:D The air feels much fresher this morning.
From tonight I'm going to mainly not CFO until the 11th as my elder son arrives this evening. I'm not sure what his plans for the week are so I expect there will be the odd CFO dinner during the week. Next weekend his gf and my younger son join us so I'll have them all home:).
I've bought a chook to roast for dinner tonight and I'll make a sage & garlic butter to pop under the skin before it goes in the oven. We'll have it jersey royals, green beans, asparagus and carrots. The remaining chicken will get used up over the next few days.
Brunch I think will be bacon and egg or I might make a BLT, I see what I fancy once I'm ready to make it. This morning I want to clean the bathroom and change my bed. If it dries up later I'll get a bit more done outside. My son has promised to give me hand with the flower bed in the front garden which is needing some bendy work done on it. I'm looking forward to having it look pretty again:)0
