Morning all, Kittie I could of done with a rescue melt this morning. I woke at 4 ish , then the birds started ,it's like sitting in an aviary , where do all them birds come from !!!! I even turned on my fan to try to drown them out. So I'm shattered this morning.

I've got my hairdresser coming, at 12 yipee! It's way too long but added an extra week on as I'm on holidays in 2 week and didn't want it to have grown much!
Dgson is here all day, his mum is off to a wedding. The plan is a walk to the park about 3 as I have an appointment at 4 with the chiropractor, and it's on the way. As long as it doesn't rain, it keeps being forcast but not had more than a shower so far.

Yesterday I had a gf baguette with cheese with pickles and onion in, tomato and lettuce with extra onion for lunch, and bit of Greek yogurt with a couple of dried apricots and seeds .
Tea was hm pizza, with veg and smoked salmon on.then a solero lolly.

I'm trying to be good not eating after tea, I don't do diets, but keeping off eating extras!! As I'm not long off hols.

Lunch today will be similar and tea is chicken dopiaza, with rice and poppadoms.

A word about the cat alarm thing . Next door have them and any young visitor or someone with good hearing have complained of a shrieking noise,so may be something to consider if you have good hearing!!!;)
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.

Just smashed a slab of halloumi into my grid. So tasty but by god I'm sweating cheese here now.

I just grabbed two slices of the bread I bought earlier and used some of the lettuce I bought the other day, then dolloped a couple of big spoons of coleslaw on top... by which time it looked like I'd struggle to fit more on top, so just had that as a sandwich .... with a packet of crisps :)

    Good afternoon everyone,

Taxis have been an absolute lifeline for me if I want to do anything independently, local rates are pretty good for short journeys and for me it is money well spent. :)

Very hot & humid here today, it felt really thundery earlier but we've just had a very, brief light shower and now the sun is shining. We do have a thunderstorm forecast for later though.
I've had a domestic morning dealing with my grocery order and hoovering. Just the floors to mop now and that be my "chores" for today done. I may well leave that to later though and read my book outside while the sun lasts.;)
Lunch was a very tasty roll with Ayrshire ham, "proper" smoked cheddar (from here http://marrbury.co.uk/), lettuce and cucumber. Tonight I'm not sure I'm swithering between copying kittie with a fish/pesto bake, using up some tinned mackerel in mustard sauce in a salad or using up a flat mushroom in a halloumi burger. I'll see what I feel like later:)

no luck today, another over-priced new build on a small footprint. Lovely quality and so it should be. Anyway far too rural

Lunch was fish, pesto top, spinach, tomato. Wort I have a very good reason and have no deep wish to eat after 4.30, hence feel no mouth hunger or urges for food. Lying down can give lots of people silent gerd, stops people sleeping, wakes them up in the night. I digest food slowly, hence the long night without food but it works, no cravings and much better sleep

Another dull day after a misty start

Nil breakfast into L's on way to volunteering
Popped into 4ldi to get bread rolls, but, yet again, they had none - just an empty slot. .

All the missing rolls are YS in my L's PN, piles of them. I was tempted but decided not, just a loaf & a 1Kg net of toms total shop. At least being half term it was not full of kid's [STRIKE]shoplifting sweeties[/STRIKE] spending their dinner money on sticky buns today

Slightly tempted to veer into fish & chip shop on way home, but decided against it, so opened a tin of corned beef, couple of slices plus a tom in a sarnie for lunch

Peered into garden, my new grape has a green shoot:j, and the Shoo fly seeds have popped up again. One of those plants that either self seed or hate your garden. They love mine, nice, unusual & non invasive plants as well, at least they are for me

Dinner will be a new meal for me, corned beef hash in my Actifry. I came across the recipe / method the other day and have been waiting for a good opportunity to try it. Tonight's the night, should be one that whatever the result it will be palatable

I don't use taxis around here, car is easier, but when away I use them and seem reasonable, especially for a group & compared to some bus fares for a group
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

I've just opened the cheeky bar of chocolate I bought at 8am this morning :) Four squares down. The 4ldi 30p chocolate is lovely and soft and meltalicious .... I don't rate the L1dl 30p chocolate at all as it's hard/snaps when you bite into it.... I do prefer the melting sort.
  • Duly had the leftover stirfry at lunchtime today.

Dinner was trying out a recipe from one of my newest cookbooks - of chocolate oatmeal (ie sorta oatmeal porridge with cocoa powder and dried goji berries in it). Pumpkin seeds, ground flaxseed, date syrup, raisins also figured in it. Wasn't at all bad as was. Drizzled a bit of my Oatly "cream" on top and was rather nice. Will do again.

Followed by some rustic sourdough bread - and the sod's law of "Just my luck dropping a slice of bread on the floor when said loaf cost me £3.50. Duh!".

    Good evening everyone,
MTSTM - as you are a "pet free" home I'd of been applying the "5 second" rule and rescuing the slice:rotfl::cool:
The forecasted thunder storm never arrived though there were a few rumbles to the South East, it's been another lovely sunny afternoon though very hot and humid. There were a couple of sprinkles of rain but not enough to get you wet IFYSWIM. I mopped the floors before heading out to the garden with my book, a cuppa and a builder's bucket full of cold water to dangle my feet in- bliss:D:D.
Once the sun had moved over I did some more potting/planting and sowed seeds for more peas & beans. If the weather holds as I might get another sowing in a few weeks but this may be the final one for this year. I've planted on some SM pots of basil and mint into nice containers and they are looking pretty on my kitchen table. I have got a pot of mint outside but it's needing some attention so the leaves are a bit coarse- fine for cooking but not so nice in salads. The SM herbs were bought at Easter before mine were ready but have done well due to the lovely weather.

I had a good chat with my elder son on Facetime early, he's more or less organised for coming up on Sunday. His gf will join us next weekend as she is away abroad through her studies just now. She'll only be here for a couple of days and I think she might be pretty jet lagged but it is lovely she is heading here even if just for a short time :).

I'm going for the mackerel salad option for tonight and will use the mustard sauce it's in to make a salad dressing with a few chopped gherkins added and some more mustard. I've a bag of radishes and one of watercress/spinach/rocket leaves to I'm looking forward to a tangy salad. I've micro steamed a few jersey royals and green beans to add to it. [STRIKE]I'm debating whether to boil and an egg for the top.[/STRIKE] I'm going to semi hard boil an egg to have on the top. :)
