A use up day today, an easy day because I have nothing I need to prepare, apart from washing some salad leaves.
Started well today, beans on toast, large mug of lancashire tea, a rest and then had a small matcha tea. I have taken a currant bun out to defrost and want that toasted when I have my choccy/hemp/berry drink. I bought 4 buns from AnC and I have to say that my hm buns are far better. I`ll make some next time I put the oven on for something else. Oh my oven needs a good clean, it is high and I cannot reach into the back of it, anyway the burnt on stuff does not easily come off. One day I will get someone in to clean it but likely I will wait until I move.0 -
The rain cleared at lunchtime yesterday, so we had an hours walk with my brother ,sil and niece, and their new dog, until the rain returned! It cleared not long after we got home though typical:o
Dd1 called for a Chinese, I had chicken fried rice, without soya sauce, I add my own gfree one at home. Then later the ice cream man came and I had a tub of whippy icecream. :j
I really enjoyed both, as I haven't had them for so long!
Need to organise my food for this week, will check stores later.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Just had a clean round, hoovered and mopped .I've turned off the tall garage freezer to defrost whilst I've not much in my small freezer. I've just popped a couple of pans of boiling water in and will go back later to see how it's doing.
I need to go out for milk today, I've made up 4 pizzas for freezing, 2 tomato based, 2 green pesto based, both types have garlic, chilli, onion, mushrooms and peppers. I freeze like that and top with salmon or chicken then sprinkle with cheese as I get them out. They were quick to assemble with my pre prepped onion, mushrooms and peppers out of freezer.
Only been up 2 hours even washed my hair and I'm sorted for the day!!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Up at silly time this morning, couldn't drop back to sleep. It was still dark
Usual pot of tea, porridge, banana, honey & HM yoghurt
My internet vanished earlier, no idea why, switched off, made a cuppa, ponced around a for bit and it's now working OK
Removed frozen salmon fillet ready for tonight, I'll have it with salad, but it will have to be chips if I want spuds with it.
I've only got frozen chips left. Luckily L's have bakers on offer from Thursday so I'll top up then
Lunch is use up, the YS crumpets, with grilled cheese & chutney topping
Sun's out now, I may clear the weeds out of the last large pot. I'll need the space for this weekend, the Runners are going out thenEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Good evening everyone,
My lunch out with my old work friends was lovely and evolved into a long catch up. I just got back in time for my early evening Tesco delivery:eek:. The conversation certainly was wide-ranging with lots of laughs. Food wise, we went for the soup or fries + sandwich option so I need to think about a meal for this evening. A "bung it in" frittata I think might just fit the bill. I had the soup which was lovely - chicken, bacon and brie which wasn't as rich & heavy as it sounded though I found my baguette lacked a bit of oomph (prawn mayo), nothing actually wrong with it just a bit underseasoned.
Fresh supplies and essentials like loo roll now restocked, I was definitely getting a bit too close for my personal comfort in the lack of fresh veg department though I've plenty of frozen veg I could fall back on.
Weather has been dire and it is really quite cold tonight, I've had to pop the heating on:(.0 -
Glad you enjoyed your lunch Caronc it's always good to catch up.
I love gooseberries but I lost my plants a couple of years ago, that was after two years when all their leaves etc were stripped overnight by gooseberry sawfly caterpillars just leaving the bigger stems. A little disheartening.
I also had an early start this morning my furry alarm clock attacked my feet 5am and then chased them up the bed biting my toes, my own fault I was determined before I got him that no more cats in the bedroom :rotfl: that last 3 weeks
I was interrupted by visitors yesterday so quickly threw together the meatballs and tomato sauce planned for today's lunch, they turned out really nice, just wish I paid more attention in what went into the sauce, at least there are 3 portions in the freezer to enjoy. Not really that hungry tonight so scrambled eggs and toast for dinner
I have been putting several homemade ready meals in the freezer lately but surprisingly I have wiggle room in one of the drawers plus a lower shopping bill the last month :T Work is due to get really busy and we're short staff so I think I will be making the most of some of those meals.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I'd made two bread rolls yesterday (cheese/pickle & egg/salad cream) so I had those today .... later I had crisps and chocolate .... and for tea I had fish fingers and chips and chocolate0
