    Good morning everyone,
The weather forecast was correct - it's pouring:(.
I'm not sure what my plans for the day are yet, though they should involve a wrestle with Henry (hoover) at some point:rotfl:
Second portion of the tuna/bean salad is planned for lunch and I'll defrost a piece of steak for dinner tonight.

lol wort, that is why I don`t buy crisps and biscuits but I still eat a frozen date slice, luckily it satisfies mouth hunger. I could kill for a bag of crisps sometimes, or rich tea biscuits

Cooked breakfast today, sausage, egg and tomato, then washing in wm on a timer while I work on the allotment, picked purple sprouting and uprooted the last plant. The sprouts keep very well indeed in the vac containers, 10 days. I only have enough now for the week, 2 plants was one too many. I think my next job will be to prep more rhubarb for the freezer, raw in bags

Lunch is pretty well cba and will be all in one pan, pasta, tuna, psb, peas and there is a dill sauce in a jar for a topping. I also have blackcurrant tart and creme fraiche. I just drank my new favourite drink/small meal of water/hemp/cacao/vanilla/frozen blackcurrants, whizzed and strained to remove seeds

Archers will have to be on iplayer and I also have the onedin line on dvd, I am enjoying it and realising what a dreadful dangerous time sailors had prior to steam

You realise all this mentioning of the cat means we'd like a photo of them up here Brambling:)

Once I work out how :o I think the tablet hates me today. He's just been outside for the first time, he seems to be happy about coming in and out although he hasn't used catflap yet as door is opened to enjoy the sunshine. Last nights thunderstorm storm has cleared the air and the washing is almost dry. I do like putting line dried bedding back on the bed :)

I've taken some veal and pork mince out of the freezer so will make meatballs for tomorrow's lunch just need to decide on tomato sauce or a Jamie Oliver beer sauce to go with them, there will be [STRIKE]some [/STRIKE] a lot going back in the freezer which will unfortunately take up more room than the mince that came out  I've also taken out some chicken breast and plan to make charred lemon chicken piccata for dinner, whilst rummaging I found some cooked gammon so that will be in a roll for lunch.

As you can see I'm putting off decluttering the small bedroom which has become a dumping ground, it's amazing how easy it is to fill space when you have it, I could no longer live in one room in a shared house even if I wanted to  too much carp these days :rotfl:

Tasty sounding food Brambling, I know what you mean re taking a small pack of something out of the freezer then results taking up more space:eek:.
I've had my wrestle with Henry and he's safely back in the cupboard:rotfl:also sorted out a meal plan for the next week:-
    • rump steak strips in a mushroom, mustard and creme fraiche sauce with rice (LO from last night) and savoy cabbage
    • out for lunch so probably "something on toast"
    • chicken, leek & mushroom pie with green veg
    • lamb chops with either ratatouille & baby spuds or chickpea salad, tzatziki & flat breads (cooking for my Dad so will see what he fancies)
    • gnocchi with tomato & veg sauce
    • scampi, oven chips, veg

Sunny here - but it's a little breezy. Weatherman hinted that there'd be rain later, so I'm even more undecided than usual. That old "so where DO you go?" question. But I've packed up a little tent, ground blanket, couple of towels, swimsuit/swimming shorts (don't expect to use those, but got them anyway), hat, drinks, 2 filled rolls, crisps and a pasta salad + plate/cutlery in case I buy something en-route that needs those... and I'll be leaving those in the car too as yesterday I could've done with that so I could've made up some rolls in the car with sandwich filler.

However.... without a clue as to a destination and knowing the roads will be bunged with everybody and his dog and his caravan.... I've been sitting. I figure if it doesn't rain, I can go out later when it's quieter and I've fewer hours to "kill" "sitting doing nothing".

Two hot sausage rolls for lunch ... and I just had a packet of crisps (bought a multipack yesterday)

Was it just me with huge thunder storms last night? Chucked it down, rolling thunder, lightning, the full Monty

Nice, sunny warm and fresh this morning, pot of tea, usual porridge, honey, banana & HM yoghurt

Bit of a bummer when trying to go into town, my car key fell apart:mad: Checking on Youtube, seems par for the course, carp design.
Quick application of [STRIKE]bodge [/STRIKE]Duct tape fixed it for the moment, no doubt a few million quid will be required for a replacement to get it working with the alarms /immobiliser:(

The trip into town was a waste of time, nothing worth having at all, usual YS mega packs but nothing useful

Lunch was two more of the crumpets, topped with grilled cheese

Then had a crack at turning one of my goosegogs into a lollipop one. I found one in a pot, layered from last year. Now shorn & tied upright.
Nice to hear yours only took a few years Kittie, my one has a few blossoms on it, so I left them on to see what sort it is, then will sort out in 2019
I've got a hinamaki, I'm going to try and turn it sort of espalier, having succeeded with my pear

Dinner, ??? could be tin of CBA ravioli, but maybe jumbo posh fish fingers. I had the Mushroom Wellington last night, so that is no longer an option

I've stewed the rhubarb, not enough for a crumble, I may open my hoard of tinned custard and go with that

No we had one too right overhead started about 11pm, although the rain started earlier. It probably came from your direction

    Good afternoon everyone,
No thunder here last night but a couple of rumbles early afternoon. It seems to have been enough to clear the air, though the downside is it is positively chilly this evening. ( I'm hoping not to have to put the heating on but will if it gets any cooler as I've plenty of layers on already.)
My sister popped round for a cuppa and a natter and the rain stopped for a bit so I managed to get some bits done in the garden. Sadly my elderly butterfly lavender bush has not survived the cold winter:(, so got it pulled out. I did buy on YS from M&S about 10 years ago for 10p so it didn't owe me anything:). My minor efforts in the garden are beginning to show, I always feel you seem to do stuff for ages and can't see any difference. I do wish the weedkiller on the slabs would hurry up and work though:cool:.

As it's due to rain for more or less the rest of the week, my next project is my wardrobe cull. I was going to start today but wasn't going to do that when I could be outside! My new clothes have all arrived and I have them hanging on doors as an incentive to get rid of stuff. I promised myself that I would get rid of 3 things for each item bought and as I bought quite a lot of new things there is going to be quite a lot heading for the charity shop. Once I've got my clothing stocks under control and hopefully better suited to my non-working life (I had a quick count and I have a dozen pairs of "office-type" black trousers ......:o) and going to try and operate a "one in one out policy". However, apart from routine underwear replacement or invitations to a "posh" do (unlikely :rotfl:), I shouldn't need to buy anything until the Autumn at the earliest though I do need to review my shoes and get rid of any I no longer need or can't wear anymore but I don't think I'll need anything much unless my favourite, ancient ECO sandals finely fall to bits:eek:.

The steak has defrosted and dinner will just take minutes to prep/cook so I'm enjoying a glass of wine before I head into the kitchen to sort out my dinner. :D

goosegog plants are very amenable aren`t they farway, those hinamaki ones have the worst thorns. They were full of bumble bees today

I could tell it rained very heavily last night, the mud between pavers was splashed up, like with a hosepipe. Gotto get prepared for cold weather again, at least the warmth made some seeds germinate but I can see me putting them in and out depending on overnight temperatures

Food tomorrow? Doh, another day of wondering what to have without going out to buy anything. Probably beans on toast for breakfast and an all on one pan pasta/tuna/veg dish with a nice tasty dill sauce, had that today and it was lovely. Must make my AnC order out now, in case I forget something

Dill is one of my favourite herbs and I will be growing some in pots. In summer I do a nice chilled 'soup' with dill. It's just natural yoghurt thinned down with a bit of milk plus tomato juice, diced, peeled cucumber and chopped dill and seasoning to suit. It has to marinate a while so the dill flavour comes through. Plus some nice fresh crusty bread. :T
