Another warm & sunny day, it was 67F in my lounge at 0630 this morning, finally no heating needed

Nil breakfast, to L's on way to volunteering. Plenty of YS pies, just when I do not need them, I assume the hot weather has stopped pie chomping, hence the YS clearances

One of the clients gave me some rhubarb, crumble on the way this weekend. I'll give him some of my excess tom plants, too many as usual despite limiting the sowing, conservatory only this year, fed up with blight

Lunch was PB baguette, with cheese / salad filling

Dinner i think is sort of frittata using LO boiled new spuds, LO Spam, maybe a bit of cheese and possibly a wrinkly tom

The bread pud turned out fine, plenty left should I fancy a chunk later

Grass was mown, rose planted. And after a 6 year wait my Doyenne Du comice pear is in blossom, they say pears for your heirs, beat them to it, hah. Like a lot of my stuff, it was from L's. £3.99, if I get fruit it will have paid for itself this year

Just to bring a bit of spring sunshine in, some of the blossom

  • Yep...good to see blossom indeed.

My fruit trees and bushes are starting to get it - including one that hadn't to date - so I'm hoping I might finally get to have some honeyberries (think that was what it's called??). I've never had honeyberries anywhere yet - or even seen them on the menu anywhere. So it's anyone's guess whether I'll actually like them or no:rotfl: - but I imagine I will.

Hmm, honeyberries, quick search, now thinking about them, honeysuckle grows like crazy here and they are same family it seems.

  • Indeed - edible honeysuckle.

Taste described as "very similar to blueberries" and I know I like blueberries - so should be okay with me.:)

It's a very healthy-looking plant - and I was worried as to whether a solo one would "turn out the goods" - as there seems to be some difference of opinion about that on different websites.

    Good evening everyone,
Beautiful blossom Farway, thanks for sharing:D.
Apart from brambles I don't grow any fruit, I used to do baskets of alpine strawberries for the kids but abandoned that when they grew up.
I decided that has there is rain due back on Sunday for a good few days, I best crack on and put weedkiller down between the slabs as it was really needing done. I'm pleased to have done it but I'm shattered now.
Lunch ended up being a cheese, tomato and beetroot roll followed by a couple of satsumas. Spaghetti with clams later :D.

For tea I just toasted half a bread roll and topped it with beans and cheese ... then some squares of chocolate.

Lunch was fish fingers, chips and peas.

I loved the pie today, had it with roasted purple sprouting and salad leaves, so nice that I have ordered another for next week

rhubarb from the allotment was gorgeous, I have frozen some. I sweetened it to have blobs with ice cream

Another afternoon painting and am 2/3 of the way through 5 litre tin two. 2nd coat on one whole wall on sunday, I am not risking it tomorrow with heavy shower a possibility. I will be glad to see the back of painting, everything I touched at one stage got blobs of paint on it from my roller and hands. I do know that after this session, I will not be doing any more big painting jobs. Any new house will be painted prior to moving in and all with auro white, which actually looks a lovely mellow colour. Easy to touch up if all the same

Well now, food tomorrow, oh no idea, apart from cold roasted purple brocolli
  • Are wild strawberries and alpine strawberries the same thing?

Put it this way - once some wild strawberries have been planted - then you've basically got them for evermore:rotfl:. I pulled them all up - a lot more have reappeared.

One way and another - I can just see a future owner of this house going "She must have planted wild strawberries and sorrel and chives - because they keep popping up everywhere to this day". The particular type of sorrel I'm thinking of will now be here in the whole vicinity till Kingdom Come in fact - as seeds from it have obviously been blown around nearby rather as well...judging by how many "weed" plants of it I'm now spotting.

I guess I really shouldnt have let the chives go to flower - as I thought they looked pretty and I'd sometimes rip a flower up and divide it to throw over salad to decorate it....whoops...

Painting is one of those jobs I find impossible to do well and stay clean, I'm sure I could be in a sealed outer space suit and still find splatters on my hair/skin:rotfl::rotfl:

I think they are the same but mine died:o.
Chives I've had the same pot for years (and years and years:rotfl:), I really must give it a bit of tlc, though like mint it seems to manage to grow with virtually nothing by way of encouragement....
