What a lovely summery day it is today, could be June. The hedgerows are full of Blackthorn blossom, all so green & pleasant driving into town after the last few weeks of cold & wet.
Plus first time this year I have the washing out on the rotary wizzer, only had to move one scoop of cat poo:eek:. Could even mow the grass tomorrow now it's drying out
Breakfast was overnight soaked porridge, sliced banana, HM yoghurt & honey. As usual
Nothing inspiring in town though, had a coffee & chat and back home
Lunch was the remaining PB baguette, with cheese & salady bits inside
Dinner will be the LO cauli cheese
I may have a potter in the garden, weed the plant pots, getting ready for planting the runners out in the next few weeks
PN, I never thought about parking costs, probably because I have free parking, pay at W/r like you, but it is only a short walk from free parking anywayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I had two sausage rolls for lunch.
I've started to dig out all that "summer stuff" that you'd like to lay your hands on "at short notice" to grab and go out (beach!). I figure if I get it all together now, and get it into one bag in the corner of the room, it's just all handy and ready to go, rather than leaving it until the moment I decide to do that and then find it takes me an hour to think what I want and find itif I were to then randomly get an invite "wanna go out? 20 mins" .... I'll be able to grab it all in quick time and feel "organised".
I bought some shorts last year, in case I ever went swimming .... wonder where I put those....0 -
Hi all - just to say "Back on line" - rather a wedge of money later. My computer went on me and I've had to have a new hard drive:(.
Could have done without that - particularly with a "storm in a teacup" in this little town (the like of which I've not been familiar with before moving:cool:) to try and sort out. Anyone free to be part of a "hit squad" on a local troublemaker that fancies a holiday in West Wales - I promise to feed you well. Hopefully troublemaker is back in his little box now....
Off to catch up now - many emails to scan etc later - and its MSE's turn now:rotfl:0 -
oh caronc, what a meal, made in heaven, bacon chops and colcannon. I think I will make that when the grandchildren come nextmoneyistooshorttomention wrote: »Hi all - just to say "Back on line" - rather a wedge of money later. My computer went on me and I've had to have a new hard drive:(.

My Dad & I really enjoyed our lunch and I didn't end up too full. In fact I've just scoffed an apple with my cuppa as my tummy wanted "something":). I've lamb mince browning for moussaka tomorrow so I best get on and griddle some aubergines. :cool:0 -
Just decided .... I think it'll be a cheeseburger and chips for tea
I've got a bread roll, burgers and chips .... so why not.
Now I've got that as my Plan A .... it's just a question of waiting until I'm hungry enough to go and whip it up, or until I choose/decide on something else.
I do hate having to think what I've got, what I fancy - and decide.
EDIT: Went with that and cooked it.... already eaten itIt was very very nice

Beautiful day here, got back from garden centre, with 3 plants. I dug up one large shrub that had gone leggy, and replaced with a nice yellow leaved philadelphus. Also mowed the grass and had a chop at the large hebe at the front.
I've had jacket potato, tinned salmon, hard boiled egg, and a salad of rocket, tomatoes, sun blush tomato, sweet pepper, olives, and onion.a bit disappointed that the jar of grilled peppers I was going to add,the lid mustn't have been screwed on properly and they'd gone mouldy. Other than that it was delicious.
Trying to decide wether to have a bit of yogurt, or wether I'll be overfull for yoga.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Sounds like a productive day wort
I envy you your yoga class, my consultant said it can be helpful for folk like me but unfortunately the only one locally is up a couple of flights of stairs which knocks it out for me.....:(
My Dad seems to have really enjoyed his lunch, I really must try and make one more often for him but don't want to get into the situation where it becomes set in "tablets of stone" where x happens at y time IFYSWIM. Years ago I used to make a Sunday dinner for everyone for 5pm every weekend and it did become a bit of a chore. I was secretly quite pleased when for a number of reasons it got disrupted and I just quietly didn't restart it, but there is probably a compromise in there somewhere. My Dad can and does fare very well in the cooking for himself department but is past the stage of wanting to cook for others and us CFOers know cooking for one can get a bit tedious! I need to have a think .....:)
Component bits for moussaka have been made so can chill overnight and I'll put it together tomorrow. It should make at least 4 portions so some for the freezer too.
I'm off to have a fridge raid to put together something for dinner, I'm quite hungry now but don't know what I fancy though the LO couple of spoonfuls of colcannon might feature, I've also some baked beans needing used up.:D
ETA- Ended up with colcannon and beans with some mushrooms & an egg.0 -
Lovely day here and still 19 according to the car, it's ashame I had to be in work. I was robbed this morning 'time thieves' stole 15 minutes and I've no idea where they went - one of those responsible meowed
not sure where the other 10 mins went. Luckily I usually leave early to miss the worst of the traffic so I wasn't late it just left me feeling I was playing catch up all morning.
Just got back from a walk across the fields only about an hour but better than nothing I was good and avoided my nephew's brownies sitting cooling when we got back. It would be easier if he wasn't such a good baker.
Falafels in pita bread with tahini dressing and raw spinach for lunch and prawn curry for dinner
Nice to see you back Money Hopefully the 'little' man will stay in his box, try sitting on itif not I'll 'help' you if you 'help' me with a work colleague?

paint came at 4 and I started work straight way, 5 litres all used and I have had to order more. I didn`t get back in until 7.30 and normally eat at 5, anyway could not face making the pasta sauce, let alone use two pans. A quick bowl of my new granola with semi milk, made it with jumbo oats this time. Went up at 10, having taken a paracetamol as I was already aching. Slept all night through on 3 pillows in a slope as I was concerned about eating so near bedtime. Well I never, didn`t wake in the early hours and maybe it was the jumbo oats providing more sustained energy all night
So I am changing my eating plan a bit, started today with sardines and sliced tomato on toast. Later gooseberries with a spoonful of yummy topping. Treat will be a chocolate hemp drink blitzed with frozen berries. Lunch will be pasta sauce, pasta and purple sprouting and some sweet salad leaves. Last meal will be jumbo granola and milk but I will try and stretch myself to having it later, maybe 6 if I last that long
Only the normal ache this morning, lower back/hip but I think I will be able to deal with that with a bit of lengthening0 -
Deal Brambling - and I'll put the kettle on for a cup of coffee if you bring the cakes:rotfl:
I guess we have to "compartmentalise" and "stick them in the deep freezer" mentally speaking:cool:..
Not easy sometimes. I guess we should be grateful for any advance warning that comes our way. I've been told someone might be joining a group I'm in and it was explained they've got a "chip on their shoulder" and what the nature of the "chip" is. We shall see - but it's something I've come across a few times recently and I'm figuring out "stop that line of conversation - right NOW" type comments if they start "bringing the chip out and frying it".
Guess, if they are the Trouble I've been warned they are and turn out to be persistent - then I guess a humorous comment could be one of the ones made if they push it - along lines of "Can I have that chip off your shoulder please?:) I'll fry it up with some beans and veggie sausages for dinner tonight". Hopefully everyone would burst out laughing at that point and situation defused....
I sighed at the fact that, if they're in Troublemaker Mode, the others have warned me that I'll be the one on the receiving end of it - so keeping fingers crossed the others will shut them up for me if they "start off on one".
I think, once one knows someone is like this = that's half the battle and we can try and think up appropriate comments/avoiding action/etc.
I know I had to do an overall action re problems I had at work latterly for many years. It's a long story - but it was a bad set-up and I had no option but to stay in the Civil Service for many years after I would have cheerfully walked out the door. I had to keep reminding myself very firmly that walking out the door (which is what some of management would have liked and were trying to "set me up" to do) would have resulted in the rest of my worklife going in & out of jobs/periods of unemployment/even lower income/maybe antisocial hours/maybe not an "office job"/etc/etc and that that would be even worse and would affect the rest of my life (ie lower level of pension after retirement).
So it was NOT easy - but I did learn eventually to mentally roll down a metal shutter blind behind me as I walked out the front door at work at end of my workday and pretty much shove any thoughts of work safely locked back behind that metal shutter. I had to "train" myself to only just remember that job just enough to ensure I was back there pulling that metal shutter up and walking back through it at the start of each workday.0
