Good morning everyone,Lol re the complicated hamster arrangements Farway!Still very hot so another day of doing very little, the heat seems to be aggravating my already painful hands and knees. It's to start to cool a bit tomorrow so looking forward to hopefully being a bit more comfortable.Tesco are due soon and then I'll be avoiding the kitchen/conservatory until later on when the sun's gone over a bit.
Scotch egg and salad for lunch. There's pasta LO from last night that DS2 will probably have it for lunch, if not I'll use it up tonight instead of my usual Friday freezer rake.0 -
We just had to take my dog to the vet as she seemed to have problems eating her treat yesterday. She needs to have some teeth out next week and they think she has a gum infection. They gave us some painkillers in a the meantime. I can drop her off next Thursday, but my husband will have to pick her up as I have my flu jab booked for the afternoon.
I had a green smoothie when I got home which was lovely and refreshing after walking there and back, although it doesn't feel quite as hot as yesterday, thankfully!0 -
Nice productive wfh day and an on time finish. Plus another 2 loads dried on the line 🙃
Stuffed vine leaves, feta, olives, tomato, cucumber, houmous and toasted pitta for lunch. Prawn, chorizo and ciabatta skewers on the bbq tonight, served with salad 😋0 -
After all the planning and expense I hope the hamsters survive the journey 🙂
poor doggy Wednesday tooth ache is no fun for anyone
another quiet day for me I'm happier indoors with curtains drawn in this heat, plenty of jobs for me to do, I did check my work emails saw nearly 300so logged off until Monday 😁
This weeks weather has produced another colander full of tomatoes, the plants are looking sorry for them selves now, I think I'll have to make a large batch of tomato sauce tomorrow and freeze, I already left some at my sisters when she was out 😁
there was a lot more of the lentil and carrot salad left than I realised (just as well it's nice 😁) I had a portion with some poached salmon from the freezer for lunch. Dinner was another portion with some pan fried slices of FR Hampshire pork fillet a 58p reduced bargain from Waitrose meat counter just before they packed it up for the evening the last time I was there, it should have been £3.58 🤑 it's lovely meat but it has become so expensive I only buy it up when I can see it on offer or YS. TBH I could have stretched it for a couple of portions if I used if for something else but at 58p I enjoyed every bite and it was nice and quick to cook. There is another portion of salad for tomorrow 😁
Just finished watching the masterchef final, now off to bed to see if I can sleep tonightLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Baking hot already, I had an early start to go up & water the volunteer pots, just in time as one was starting to droop, back home and cooler indoorsHamsters made it safely to Carlisle for an overnight stop, duly smuggled for the night
. Onwards to Aberdeen area today. There was an eight-mile queue on M6 so good training for DGD having recently passed her test, welcome to the world of motoring
The Porky White posh bangers were a let-down, all was going well, then Gristle!I'll finish the packet but now back on the search. Actually I quite like Linda M veggie ones, but they always seem to be a rip-off, although just checked, and it's three for a fiver in Asda, so next shop I'll probably get some in
Too hot to do much CFO, can't stand the heat, keep out of kitchen!.Having said that, I think I'll AF the last of the gristle bangers and maybe a couple of fried eggs, sort of brunchDinner, I have fresh chicken near use date, so I'll roast that and have with salad tonight. I've got LO cooked new spuds, so will make own potato salad as wellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Good afternoon,
Poor pooch having toothache Wednesday.
Glad DGD's journey is going to plan Farway, shame about the gristly bangers!
Scorching but hazy here today. There's a big air show on this weekend a few miles away so looking forward to seeing some of the fly pasts.
Salady bits for lunch and HM Philly cheese steak sandwiches for dinner.1 -
Far too hot to do very much at all today 🥵
I did a bit more ironing from the holiday washing but not much else.
More vine leaves, olives, feta, houmous, cucumber, tomato and toasted pitta for lunch. Lamb burger and chargrilled courgette salad with lettuce and new potatoes tonight. Cooked peppers for packed lunches whilst the bbq was on 😀0 -
Shame about the sausages Farway, and they aren't a cheap makePanic start to the day about 3am which didn't end up as bad as my 'panicking' brain though it was going to, but you know what being half asleep will do🙄 I Woke to what I thought was the toilet cistern filling up which was a little strange but realised it was coming from the cold water tank in the loft and there was no cold water in the bathroom or in the toilet cistern but downstairs tap worked ok. 5am I gave up and climbed the loft ladder to peer in to see if any over flowing water then remembered I shouldn't be climbing ladders anymore
especially as my mobile was downstairs. A google search suggested it was maybe the ball valve? I called my insurance home emergency number at 8am, which is when I remembered my insurance includes £200 emergency cover with no excess, it seems as I only have the one toilet which wasn't flushing it was covered 😁 I was impressed as they promised a plumber within four hours and texted the plumbers details etc and he arrived within the hour. It was the ball valve so he replaced it and was gone within half hour, it seems there was a very slight dribble of water getting in which was echoing in the empty tank sounding loud thought out the upstairs! He said his fourth this week and at least my loft hadn't reached 100 degrees yet.
Most of the time I'm happy living on my own but at 3am I would have loved to have nudged someone else awake to deal with it or tell me I was worrying over nothing
I've been slow for the rest of the day tired and hot so other than a quick trip to SM for fresh stuff and my sister coming around for a few hours at 7pm a quiet day, although a 5.30am breakfast threw off my usual meal times as well as his lordships
lunch was the last of the lentil salad with ham. CBA to cook so beans on toast for dinnerLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Way too hot yesterday, cooled now after sticky night, seems rain & thunder may be on the way as wellGood news on insurance & ball valve Brambling, and climbing loft ladders is no longer for me which was one reason I had my boiler replaced & hot water jiggled around and removing all water supply & tanks from my loft, I think that was one of my more sensible movesLazy CFO today with the heatLunch, ploughman style, cheeses & salad bitsDinner, some LO cold roast chicken, Maybe with salad or maybe with AF chipsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
