Another hotty today, Asda delivery arrived ten minutes early, but I was up & about so no harm done
Two subs had to go back, smaller size for same price as double.
They upsized the subbed carrots, 1kg instead of 500g, same price, but the carrots are those huge tree trunk ones, be OK in stew etc though. And the mushrooms are what I ordered, except this time they are large ones, just four in the pack :o , it's a chance I take by not buying a specific type, like button etc, all adds to the excitement on delivery day

All the fresh stuff is well in date, which leaves me wondering about meals, too many options. But seeing JKS salad really makes me think it's what I should be having this weather, I have everything and may have a rummage in freezer for any LO suitable protein, like chicken leg etc

Lunch, last of the bacon in a sarnie
Dinner, salad, new spuds + something from freezer

  • Really hot today. I had a missed call on my husband's phone and thought it was the carpet cleaners calling and then realised it was the dry cleaning place for me to pick up my altered dresses. I went to pick them up and thought the woman working there looked quite ill. She was drying duvets in her tumble dryers so it must be unbearable in this heat! It was funny as the label she put on the dresses said Wednesday. Not Wednesday2000, though.

I bought my husband a slice of cake from the Buddhist cafe and bought myself a cold beer to drink on the walk back. :D I had some leftover pasta for breakfast when I got home.

  • Very productive day - 3 loads of washing dried on the line, bed changed, bedroom dusted and hoovered, bit of ironing, everything unpacked and put away (including a bit of a sort of travel items, toiletries and first aid/medicine bits), Lidl shop to keep me going for another few days eating, packed lunch made for tomorrow, voluntary meeting attended 😅

LO pulled pork from the freezer in a toasted brioche bun with coleslaw for lunch. Tuna steak Niçoise salad this evening.

I'm glad you had a good holiday JKS

I met a friend in Chichester for lunch, boy was it hot 🥵 but good to catch up. I was glad I had driven down to my sister which is closer to the station so it wasn't so far to walk back when it is so not and sticky and I got cuddles and 'tea' from the little one as grandma was babysitting

His lordship and I finished the roast chicken tonight, just a sandwich for me his was minus the bread!

Another hotty today, and today is the day DGD drives up to Scotland, not ideal weather, but I suppose it never is, at least it will be dry driving for her.

I have picked all my apples now, some are bird pecked so will need to stew those sharpish, probably later today
My milk had turned to yoghurt overnight in fridge, tipped it :( , luckily have fresh one delivered yesterday, my I struggled to get the top off :o , the new containers are so flimsy they bend while trying to unscrew the top cap

Lunch, ploughman style again, I'm going to sample one of my HG pears at the same time
Dinner, boil in bag kipper fillets, I'm going to use up some frozen mash to go with them, the mash was a Covid lockdown purchase and using it will give me a bit of extra space

    Good morning everyone,
Hope DD has a smooth drive Farway.
Scorching here already and thankfully I'm feeling a bit less meh than yesterday which wasn't helped by my printer not playing. Goodness knows why it doesn't want to connect to the WiFi! DS2 will have look as I suspect it's user error!
Tesco order to finalise and this evening my sis and nephew are coming for dinner. He's started a new job today so looking forward to hearing how Day 1 went. Pasta with chorizo, veg and chickpeas in tomato sauce for dinner. LO curry for lunch.
  • I'm feeling really hot today! I am going to have a shower in a minute. I'm having a roll with something in it and a big salad with coleslaw for brunch.

I signed up to Too Good To Go today so I will look at that in a minute. Someone on here mentioned it.

  • Wow, very hot again, such a strange summer for weather. First day back at work after a week and a half of, ooft - bit of a day, glad I’m only doing 2 days this week 😉

Left all the curtains and blinds closed so the house was fairly pleasant when I got home. I’ve then had all the windows and doors open, had a drink outside and pottered in the garden to decompress 😅

Mediterranean lentils with avocado, tomato and hard boiled egg for lunch. BBQ back on tonight - some very nice Lidl sausages from the freezer (their posh range but cheaper than the farm shop), with new potatoes, salad and coleslaw.

Just caught up on last night’s Masterchef, I’ve really enjoyed this series, particularly once we were down to the last 7/8 contestants.

I hope GD drive is going well Farway

too hot to do any of the planned garden today, I'm not made for this heat and after a bad night sleep due to being too sticky I have had a day of pottering indoors and some personal admin etc I was also able to finish my book which is the annual one from a favourite author 🙂

a salad day due to the heat, ham and cheese salad for lunch with LO coleslaw.  Moroccan lentil and carrot salad for dinner with some prawns which needed eating today.  The salad was slightly tweaked using up what I had in fridge and I had a sachet of lentils but the dressing was as recipe other than honey rather than maple syrup

Sunny but a bit hazy and warming up already.

DGD change of driving plan, going today now, something to do with her hamsters and temperature.
Gosh, it's become complicated, seems DD [her mum] will be transporting hamsters in her air-conditioned dog walking van as far as the Lake District, where hamsters will move over to DGD car for the rest of the journey to Aberdeen area
DD stays in Lakes B & B until Sunday, then back home
Must be the most expensive hamsters in the world, Grandad rolls eyes here
Of course, mustn't point out to Eco super green DGD the carbon footprint involved in this hamster shuffling >:)

Stewed my bird pecked apples yesterday, not enough for crumble but fine for mixing in porridge etc
made another overnight loaf in time for lunch
Lunch, sausage sarnie, trying the new Porky White's brand bangers, I'll air fry them
Same for dinner, AF bangers & HM mash, with onion [instant] gravy
