Quiet work day even with a unexpected meeting this afternoon which even my mild manner boss was grinding his teeth over someone's unachievable request 🙄
lunch was the last of the gammon with salad, I made a vegetable slaw with a Greek yogurt and mustard dressing. Dinner was salmon, green beans and new potatoes, the salmon was YS tikka salmon so didn't need cooking, I froze the whole pack so another one for the weekendLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Sunny start to the morning, marred by news my cousin has died, not a big shock as he’s been ill for a while, plus I’ve not seen him for decades. Lived up near Felixstowe so I’ll not be attending the funeral. He was 75
Meanwhile today I’m over to my daughter’s this afternoon for my birthday buffet which has been postponed for a couple of Covid years, don’t think it’ll be warm enough to sit out but never can tell. The grandchildren are now too old, and at work, to have Easter egg hunts, probably face first in their phones anyway
Meals today are light lunch in view of buffet later, I think I’ll nick another idea from JKS and have peanut butter on toast for lunch
Dinner, hopefully a cake laden doggy bag will be provided by DD but if not I’ll rummage about and see what I fancy

Good afternoon everyone,
Happy Birthday Farway, shame it was marred by sad news. Hope you enjoy the buffet at your DD's.
Bright but cold here, the wind is bitter. Good drying day though! DS2 is busy fence painting and later, under my supervision, is going to set up the greenhouse for me so it's ready for growing on my bedding plants when they arrive in a week or so.
Cheese & pickle toastie for lunch and tonight I'm making Cajun spiced burgers using turkey and pork mince. I'll make some coleslaw as I have a huge savoy cabbage (you could go 10 pin bowling with it lol) and no doubt some AF chips will feature.0 -
Happy birthday Farway, sorry if had a sad start, I hope you enjoyed your lunch 🙂
it's been a lovely day here, quite warm 🙂 I drove into town rather than walk in to drop off a couple of bags of books at the CS, too heavy to walk. Whilst I had the car I topped up on DW tablets and some other bits from Savers and Wilkos also some white vinegar for cleaning from a little shop in town, he is the cheapest place to get it but I need the car to carry 5ltrsHome via Sainsbobs for a small shop of some fresh stuff. If anyone is near one their joints are on offer (beef, lamb and pork) ready for Easter. I'd already taken a small beef joint out of the freezer for tomorrow and I have a half leg of lamb from the farm shop in there but I did buy a small pork loin joint.
Lunch was LO vegetable slaw with the second piece of salmon from yesterday. I caught up with my sister this afternoon and shared a hot cross bun with a cuppa.Dinner was lamb bhunda and rice, the lamb was some lamb neck from the FS I forgot it can be a little boney not a problem as just meLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,
More on the cloudy side this morning, I'm swithering if it's worth hanging the washing out.
DS2 made a grand job of fence painting and setting up the greenhouse. He's still lounging in his pjs this morning, well deserved as he didn't stop yesterday.
I took advantage of Morrison's offer on lamb legs and asked DS2 to pick up a couple when he popped there for the pop he likes yesterday evening. I'll bone and portion them later and that will give us a good stash for a while. I already have a nice butcher's one in the freezer for Easter Sunday.
LO coleslaw and probably a toastie for lunch. Pork chops with mash and tbc veg for dinner.0 -
Weather is a bit indifferent today, dull then sun, cool but not cold
Yesterday’s birthday buffet was a blow out belly buster, my daughter went to Costco and there were loads of things on the table, a lot was catering type stuff, like sushi, olives selections etc., very nice. And huge chocolate muffins. My doggy bag had a jumbo blueberry muffin plus slabs of Easter egg chocolate
And I was given a packet of Burpless cuc seeds as well, a job for later on today
I’m still stuffed from yesterday so it’s easy & simple food today
Lunch, toast and probably soft cheese spread
Dinner, some LO cold lamb & salad, with HM AF chips

Warm enough today to get a couple of loads of washing 90% dry, just a little damp on the towels 🙂 I love the smell of line dried washing
Other than washing a lazy day with a little housework, my hip objected during the night to something I did yesterday so I had a broken night.Lunch was a egg and cheese salad. Dinner I roasted a small M&S beef joint and had it with all the usual veg, I was going to cook some red cabbage but cba.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Not much CFOing going on here this weekend so been MIA.
Have got a load of washing dry on the line each day, which strangely makes me incredibly happy 😊
Made a brunch/early lunch yesterday of smashed avocado and scrambled eggs on toasted bagel before heading off for a haircut. Out to the theatre with friends last night and we met up for pre-theatre tapas.
Out for Sunday lunch today so cheese and biscuits for supper. Have prepped a couple of days of packed lunches - it’s looking like a busy short week…1 -
Nice & sunny with a bit of breeze, ideal hanging washing out day, just wish I could these days but wobbles & lack of puff means just carrying washing down the garden would be a very hazardous task and not one I’m prepared to gamble on, at least I have a flat area outside the back where I can hang “stuff” on a drying horse come summer without too much danger to life & limb
Managed to get my birthday Burpless cucs sown, in anticipation of bumper crop this summer whilst a shortage in the shops. My little 60p pot of thyme is growing well and needs planting out soon, and hopefully 60p pot of flat leaf parsley will arrive with my Asda shop on Wednesday, plus my mint has taken in the front, so will have some fresh herbs this summer at least
Spot of bad news, my neighbour of umpteen years is selling up, the latest energy price rises have proved to be a step too far for her income, plus her daughter moving abroad has prompted her action. Can’t choose neighbours but I can only hope her replacement are as good and trouble free
Meals today, very much in a rut now, toast & cheese spread for lunch
LO cold roast lamb + salad + HM AF chips for dinner

Good morning everyone,
I have pots of basil, parsley and mint needing potted on. The supermarket thyme I planted 2 years ago is massive now.
Dull and drizzling here this morning, I've friend's visiting tomorrow who I've not seen in nearly a year (apart from at a funeral) so need to get some housework done. They plan to give their pooches a run on the beach then head here for lunch. As the forecast isn't great I'll make a pot of soup. I slow cooked a ham hock overnight and the house smelt amazing this morning.
DS2 is cooking tonight - lamb keema saag0
