A rainy start to the day but now my left foot has returned to normal I managed to get my shoes on trouble free, which enable me to YS mooch around Mark’s this morning

Couple of good un’s, sort of anyway. YS Lamb leg, use by is today, £8.74 was nearly £16 before which is well out of my “comfortable with that” price range. Bit pricey even YS but being as it’s my birthday treat to me I splashed out, especially with my birthday lunch at DDs on Saturday will be 100% veggie. I’ll chance it & cook it tomorrow hopefully with cold LO for a few days after

And YS “extremely cheesy” hot cross buns, a first for me, it was those or YS Bramley ones

Hope the ankle improves Caron, time seems to be the trick, cake& and a box set help as well

Lunch, sampled one of the cold buttered YS cheesy hot X buns, passed OK, later it was a fake Spam + salad sarnie

Dinner, trying one of Asda’s Aberdeen Angus rib eye steaks, they were on offer but still near a fiver, again the birthday excuse.  Looks a thick steak but I’ll judge it on taste, mostly good reviews but it’s all subjective isn’t it?

I’ll have HM AF chips, eggs & mushrooms with it with LO banana bread later if space allows

  • Rain and even hail on and off today, not that I saw much of it, been manic!

Dashed in from an off-site meeting and quickly made a fishfinger sandwich before my next (online) meeting whilst also, fielding numerous calls and answering some urgent emails. Worked till 5.30 to clear a few more as tomorrow is already looking challenging 🙃

Was glad of a swim to destress a bit and made an egg fried rice concoction with some of the roast pork, mushrooms, baby corn and sugar snap peas when I got home. Eaten while catching up on last night’s Masterchef 😋

Hopefully tomorrow won't be as manic as you fear JKS - we weren't too busy today just enough to make the day go quickly and we all escaped at 5pm 🙂

lunch was another gammon salad, I brought a small joint in Sainsbobs for under £5 and have three generous meals and there's enough for two more.  Dinner was some goat and cauliflower curry from the freezer with a quick flat bread

Woken by the wind howling in the early hours, it’s LO French storm apparently , still blowing now but the sun’s trying hard to peek out

Last night’s rib eye steak was fine, would’ve been pleased with it in a restaurant, nice & tender if a bit scrappy around the edges, usual on line shopping problem being not the one I’d have chosen. I would buy again so not all bad

Seems to be a fuel shortages around here, back to queues at the petrol stations and no one knows why, protestors blocking oil depots? Ukraine? Change from Red diesel and shortage of tankers? Local FB is full of “anyone know where I can get XXXX” I noticed queues when I went shopping yesterday but thought it was just some hitch at the garage, seems not. I’m OK for now anyway

Lunch, nicks JKS idea of Fish F sarnie, it’ll make a nice change

Dinner, it’s the YS lamb leg. I have some baby “new” spuds, plus steam cauliflower, cabbage, celery and some carrots. Only query, blobbed with Cornish butter or Bisto gravy? I’m leaning towards butter

    Good afternoon,

I'm just back from brunch and a noodle round a couple of shops with my sister. It's been a very long time since we've done this and it felt like a real treat. We timed it well too, the breakfast rush was over and the lunch time folk only beginning to arrive when we left. I treated myself to some Arran honey mustard from the deli but managed to resist other temptations. My ankle was feeling much better but is now complaining, it will be feet up for a bit before I see what needs doing. Still very cold and damp here but the rain stayed off while we were out and about.
I indulged in eggs florentine with mushrooms and a toasted muffin for brunch, that will definitely keep me going until this evening.
Jerk spiced chicken and veg traybake for dinner.

The French also shared their storm with us 😐 wheelie bins spent more time on the ground than stood up  :s

The gammon is the gift which keeps on giving so lunch was a gammon and egg salad with enough gammon for lunch tomorrow, I will definitely buy another one at under £5.

As I am once again trying to get wiggle room in the freezers, I have too many HM ready meals aka leftovers in the kitchen and at 15 it's getting very noisy.   Therefore dinner was chilli and rice

  • Busy but not manic day, mostly enjoyable and productive. And it’s Friday tomorrow 😀

Wet and fairly windy at times, fence still hanging on by a thread 😬

Lunch was yet more of the vegetable chilli stash with a toasted pitta. Quick and easy salmon with green bean and pesto pasta tonight.

Very dull, but dry & wind has stopped. Looking at weather picture seems the French are now sharing their clouds while rest of UK is in sunshine. So kind of them.

Last night’s Mark’s YS lamb was excellent, worth full price I expect but paying nearly £16 for a bit of meat while some can’t afford a tin of corned beef just doesn’t sit easily. But very good at half price and feeling slightly smugly virtuous

Oooh, I love Eggs Florentine Caron, prefer Benedict TBH but I suppose added greenery is healthier?

Today’s meals, lunch I have LO fake Spam; I may try and fritter [AKA fry] some and pop inside a sarnie

Dinner, some of the LO cold lamb, with HM AF chips & salad bits. Not quite the weather for salad but don’t want rinse & repeat form yesterday

    Good morning everyone,
I'm happy with anything that involves poached eggs and hollandaise Farway.  :) I'm not the amount of butter added to the spinach made it the healthier option lol!
Frosty first thing here and still very cold but it's a beautiful sunny day.
Ankle is complaining after yesterday's outing so will taking it easy today.
Tesco are due soon, no subs and I've ordered 2 salmon sides on SO to portion and freeze. That will keep us going for a good while.
LO roast veg with a scotch egg for lunch. Usual Friday freezer rake for dinner while DS2 has a chippy.
  • Didn’t feel 100% earlier so planned fishfinger sandwich became peanut butter on toast because it was what I fancied.

Got pretty much everything I wanted to done today plus the usual couple of crises averted.

Felt more like food this evening so made the planned steak with lemon, coriander and feta spinach - it’s an old Waitrose magazine recipe, really good 😋
