I slept late this morning, I woke at 6am and turned over and went back to sleep and the furry alarm clock unusually let me sleep in until after 9 which left me a little bleary eyed and slow to get going.  I did get a wash on the line but not my bedding as planned

my sister and I walked into town for lunch, I had a 'lite' portion of macaroni cheese, the cafe is inside the  centre so they have only just been allowed to open again.  We both picked up a pair of summer trousers and a couple of Tee shirts (different ones ) I used some vouchers 🙂  the town was busy so we didn't hang around too long and it was too sunny to shop

I had defrosted a half leg of lamb but decided it was too warm for a roast so made a 'ratatouille' type dish, no aubergine but I added fennel and chicory instead with the usual veg.  I was going to serve with couscous but decided if I cooked some broccoli that was enough.

I hope the dessert set Caronc and you had a great family dinner

Warm & sunny today, and forecast is same for next few days, salad days maybe?
I'm trying to run down my "must use" perishable food just in case my hospital stay is more than the one night, no reason it should be but I'd hate to stuck in there thinking about a rotting lettuce in the fridge, or the usual cucumber that turns overnight into a tube of mushy squidge
Only exercise today has been watering the back garden pots, looks like everything is about to rush on now cold weather has gone

Lunch was cheese & piccalilli on toast [piccalilli used up, ticks box]
Dinner, I think stab & ping "Deluxe" Iceland MFO, they are supposed to be for two but from the reviews I think that's just a con for the calorie count label, "XX calories per serving" fiddle, whatever it only looks a one decent portion or two mouse sized

    Good evening everyone,
Sounds sensible Farway one less thing to worry about!
Cake set beautifully Brambling and tasted wonderful. Quite a bit LO but sis will pass some to her elderly neighbours and my nephew will scoff the rest after his shift today.
Not the best photo as my sister's kitchen is tiny but I was really pleased with how it turned out. My sister cooked some gorgeous food including beef short ribs and it was a lovely evening from start to finish.

The weather has been glorious today and my greenhouse has been moved to it's new position.  :)
CFO this evening as my son has headed to his mates for a BBQ. I still haven't decided to have for dinner but it will be something easy that doesn't require much by way of prep or clearing up!

Cake has been bookmarked Caronc I'll try it at the next family dinner if I'm allowed as I usually get a request for my nephew's favourites

It's been a hot day, I managed some gardening between gossiping with neighbours 😁 until it got too hot after lunch and hayfever kicked in as well  :(

Definitely salad weather so lunch was a egg and cheese salad.  Dinner lamb and vegetable LOs

Dinner, more use up, the last trout fillet out defrosting, I'll have it with HM AF chips & salad.

    Good morning everyone,
It's another gorgeous day here, I have a few bits and pieces I need to do in the kitchen before it gets too hot in there (the downside of a kitchen/conservatory!) and then outdoors beckons. I hope to get a fair bit of re-potting done and give the greenhouse a good scrub before I start to re-fill it.
I finally remembered to take the smoked mackerel out of the freezer to make pate for lunch. Southern fried chicken thighs with baked spuds or wedges, salad and HM blue cheese dip for dinner.

Another hot day here as well 🥵 i went to the garden centre with my sister which is always a long process as she admits to being so indecisive when choosing plants 🙄. I picked up a couple of pots as I lost nearly all of my terracotta ones over the last couple of years and have been replacing them with others as and when I see ones I like which will fit into the front garden.   I think it was the really wet weather followed by a few really cold hard frost nights which finished them off.  I also picked up 4 half price tomato plants as mine are about a inch tall and going nowhere fast  :( so at least I should get some tomatoes 🤞

It was after 2.30 by the time we got back and I dropped my sister off so lunch was a lamb and mint sauce sandwich and a ice cream.  Dinner was lamb again as it is the joint which keeps on giving 😁 so I cobbled together cold lamb, HM hummus and crudités, I also made some flat breads. Very CFO

'morning, another scorcher due today, I have the windows open already
CFO is zero today because it's hospital day, nothing except water until I come round later when a nice cuppa will be very welcome
Dinner, no idea, last time I was in it was a LO sarnie because I was still out for the count at dinner time :s
At least I got the fridge cleared of the very perishable stuff and I've remembered I bought an All Day Breakfast in my last Iceland shop, that could be for tomorrow once I get back home

    Good morning everyone,
Good luck Farway, I hope all goes well.
Overcast but warm here today, my garden re-model is really beginning to take shape. It will be a while before it's completely finished but what a difference already. My son is busying laying chips before it gets too hot.
Virgin Media are due this afternoon to upgrade my phone line - I suppose I better dust before they arrive.
Smoked mackerel pate on crackers for lunch and lamb jalfrezi with rice & naan for dinner.

I hope the hospital visit went well Farway 🙂

Do you hire you're garden designer and labourers out Caronc

I managed to finish work earlier tonight at 6pm not on time but better than the 8 or 9pm of the last couple of weeks.  It was good to get some time for gardening and chatting to my neighbour over the fence, he's offered me a couple of his spare tomato plants (he can't say what they are as they self seeded in his green house from last years fallers)

Lunch was LO hummus and veggies from yesterday and there's still a portion left.  Dinner was JO filo chicken Kiev with green veg and new potatoes.  I made a couple of extra chicken Kiev for the freezer as well as a couple of salmon with wild garlic pesto parcels and some triangles made from soft goat cheese mixed with fresh thyme, dates and walnuts.  There's some filo left so I may make some Spinach, feta and pinenut triangles tomorrow to add to the freezer as well
